We are to the final week of October and Halloween is right around the corner. I don’t see any scary releases this week except maybe Lea Michele’s Christmas album…that one looks truly frightening and I will stay as far away as I possibly can from that one. Me, i plan on scaring up a couple for sure and maybe give two others a try. They are marked in Blue. Let me know what interests you and what I might have missed. I hope you find something and have a great weekend!
Airbourne – Boneshaker – (Spinefarm Records): The boys from down under are back with another earth shattering, bone rattling rocker. I have this one on order and the vinyl should be there when I get home. I have everything else they have done on vinyl so why not this one. If you like AC/DC, you will like this. They are loud, aggressive and fantastic. Turn it up and let them blow your ears right off.
James Blunt – Once Upon a Mind – (Atlantic Records): And if you want something a little more in the pop arena you won’t find anything better than James Blunt. His unique voice, great story telling and song writing are always entertaining and worth quite a few spins. Plus, the man is hilarious. I saw him live and his self-deprecating humor really made me a fan. HIs last album, ‘The Afterlove’ was amazing and so I have high expectations for this, his 6th album.
Stereophonics – Kind – (Parlophone Records/Warner): These guys have been around long enough to deserve some respect. As a result, they will get a spin. Their earliest albums were really amazing and I always hope for more of the same. Their brand of British pop is better than most of the crap on the radio so I am looking forward to it.
Bad Wolves – N.A.T.I.O.N. – (Eleven Seven Records): This L.A. metal band made some waves with their debut album last year and now they are back already with some new music. They are managed by Zolton Bathary from Five Finger Death Punch with which they toured along with Breaking Benjamin and Shinedown. Some pretty good company to learn from. Interested to hear how they have matured and how their music has grown.
And the rest, hopefully something for you as there is a little of everything….
Harry Connick Jr. – True Love: A Celebration of Cole Porter – (Verve Records)
Phil Campbell – Old Lions Still Roar – (Nuclear Blast)
Rick Astley – The Best of Me – (BMG)
Van Morrison – Three Chords and the Truth – (Exile Productions)
Ringo Starr – What’s My Name – (Universal Music)
Saint Asonia – Flawed Design – (Spinefarm Records)
Ginjer – Macro – (Napalm Records)
Norma Jean – All Hail – (Solid State Records)
Neil Young & Crazy Horse – Colorado – (Reprise Records)
Joe Bonamassa – Live at the Sydney Opera House – (J&R Adventures)
Grace Potter – Daylight – (GEP Productions/Fantasy Records)
Fit for an Autopsy – The Sea of Tragic Beasts – (Nuclear Blast)
Steve Grimmett’s Grim Reaper – At the Gates – (Dissonance)
Toby Keith – Greatest Hits: The Show Dog Years – (Show Dog/Thirty Tigers)
Lea Michele – Christmas in the City – (Sony Music)
Old Dominion – Old Dominion – (Sony Music)
I’ll likely check out Neil Young’s latest, but that’s about it.

Look forward to your thoughts on Airbourne John. Cool to see that you are super psyched about it.

I really dig Airbourne. It is mindless, hard rocking fun. If you like AC/DC, then this is a no-brainer.

I actually heard some of the new Kanye today. The first track is very gospel, and I liked it. I didn’t like it when he started rapping — as soon as he opened his mouth I lost it. But the actual gospel stuff was good. The album came out around lunch time today, 12 hours behind schedule!

Nice. It is good, but I think I like the last one better. They are going to tour the states in 20 so hoping they come to my neck of the woods.

This was a monster week for me. Neil Young, Phil Campbell, Van Morrison, and Airbourne. Just getting it all onto my phone now to see what will be vinyl worthy. How many Joe Bonamassa live albums does one need????

That is a lot to get through. As far as Joe Bo, there is a limit. I stopped caring a long time ago about the live discs.
