Friday New Releases – April 26, 2024

This is a big week for me. Two of my favorite artists are releasing 40th Anniversary Editions of their biggest albums. First, Def Leppard and ‘Pyromania’ and Billy Idol with ‘Rebel Yell’. Yes, I ordered both and they are on their way. Can’t wait to dive in to this and here the previously unreleased material. If those don’t shake your tree, there are ton more new releases this week that are actually new releases. Let us know what you want to hear or what we may have missed. Thanks for stopping by and I hope you all have a wonderful weekend.

  • Def Leppard – Pyromania 40th Anniversary Box Set – (Mercury Records)
  • Billy Idol – Rebel Yell (40th Anniversary Expanded Edition) – (Universal Music)

Friday New Releases – July 8, 2022

Happy Friday…I hope everyone is staying cool. Speaking of cool, we have a bunch of cool stuff for you this week. We don’t have as much as some weeks, but there are still over 30 releases this week. I have a few I am interested in hearing and some I’ll get to eventually and those will be bolded. Let me know what you want to hear this week or what we may have missed. Thanks for stopping by and I hope you have a great weekend!

  • A1q6kVDyt3L._AC_UY436_FMwebp_QL65_  James Bay – Leap – (Mercury Records / Republic Records / UMG): James Bay is back and it has been awhile as it has been 4 years since his last one. He is a fantastic guitarists and his music leans between folk, pop, rock, Americana and whatever else he feels like playing. I am excited to get some new tunes.
  • 81zTZ0x99hL._AC_UY436_FMwebp_QL65_  Journey – Freedom – (Freedom JN / BMG): Speaking of being gone awhile, Journey hasn’t had a new album in 11 years…that’s right…11 years. It is about time. Can’t wait to hear Neal rip on guitar and Arnel sing his heart out (man what a voice he has). Even Dean Castronovo sings on one song so this should be a good listen. Can’t wait to hear it.

You Pick It! – Which Album to Review in January?

You, my reader, are going to pick an album for me to review each month.  It is really simple…first, I will give you 5 albums to choose from and second, you will tell me which one of those you would like to see reviewed on the site.  See…simple!

There are a few simple rules I have put in to place in my selections.  They are…

  • One has to be a new release (within the last month)
  • One has to be one I have never heard before (new releases don’t count for this one)
  • One has to be from a genre I don’t normally listen to at all or very often
  • And the last two are choices from my collection that I haven’t reviewed before

What are the 5 albums you ask?  Funny you should ask because I have those right here…

New Release – Neil Young & Crazy Horse – ‘Barn

Never Heard Before – John Prine – ‘John Prine’

Not My Normal Genre – Shania Twain – ‘Come On Over’

From My Collection – Queensyrche – ‘Rage For Order’

From My Collection – Triumph – ‘Allied Forces’

Let me know which one you would like to see and sometime in January, I will post a review of the album that gets the most votes. You have one week to decide and from there I will start listening to the album and do a review.

Thanks for participating!

Friday New Releases – December 10, 2021

It is possibly the last Friday New Release post of 2021 as next week there is only a handful of releases and nothing (in my opinion) of any real merit. But what do I know. For now, this is the last one and your last chance of grabbing any last minute Christmas gift ideas for people. If you have friends that like Alicia Keys, Green Day or Neil Young, there is something here your friend will need. For me, there is nothing here I will be adding to the list and nothing on my list until 2022. If I don’t post anything next week, then the next Friday New Release Post will come back on January 7, 2022…so until then keep on listening to music no matter what it is. Thanks for stopping by every week as we do appreciate your support!!

  • 617Q8GZKu-L._AC_UL640_FMwebp_QL65_  Alicia Keys – Keys – (RCA Records / Sony)
  • 91rYELHMWML._AC_UY436_FMwebp_QL65_  Green Day – BBC Sessions – (Reprise Records)

Friday New Releases – February 26, 2021

This is another big week as I have over 25 new releases for today. Unfortunately for me, there is only a couple I’m really interested in and they are marked in Blue. There has to be something you can find in this list that you want to spin. Let me know what tickles your funny bone. Also, let me know what new releases I missed because believe it or not, it has been known to happen. Thanks for stopping by and I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend.

  • 61yFSK+0uGL._SX522_  Alice Cooper – Detroit Stories – (Edel Germany / Earmusic): Alice is still going strong at around 73 years of age. This time around the album actually features all surviving members of the Original Alice Cooper Band. How cool is that!! I am sure this is going to be another guitar heavy masterpiece that only Alice can give us.
  • B1qx+KFwSPS._SX522_  The Black Crowes – Shake Your Money Maker (30th Anniversary Deluxe) – (Universal Music / American Music) – DIGITAL ONLY – The Deluxe Edition is not until March 19th on CD & Vinyl…This is the only other I am eager to hear. This is loaded full of unreleased material. The only bad news is that the CD & Vinyl Deluxed Editions aren’t coming for another month. I think I can make it!! It will be difficult, but I will survive.

Friday New Releases – November 6, 2020

I can’t believe we are now in November and thankfully, the new releases keep on coming. This past week we had our Presidential Election and since I don’t do politics on this site, we will skip over that mess to say I am so happy no more political adds for quite awhile. Man, I was so sick of those things. It is so hard to chose a candidate because basically you are choosing the lesser of TWO EVILS!! One thing that is easy to choose is which releases I want to hear and those are marked in Blue. Let me know which ones you want to hear and what I may have missed so everyone can know about it. Thanks for stopping by and have a great weekend!

  • 81Qc-HPivML._SX522_  Jeff Scott Soto – Wide Awake (In My Dreamland) – (Frontiers Records): The man is a machine. He puts out so much music whether it is solo, his band SOTO, his band W.E.T. (new one coming in January) or his other band Sons of Apollo. And the cool things is everything is pure quality and his voice doesn’t falter. I have been collecting everything of his on CD and it is tough to keep up as there are probably 50-60 to try and buy. I’m probably only half way through. But this one will arrive today to add to that list.
  • A1wQQxC9YhL._SS500_  Whitesnake – Love Songs (2020 Remix) – (Rhino Records): A new Whitesnake…not really as it is a compilation. However, everything is remixed and at least 1 or 2 haven’t been released so it is a good kind of compilation. This is the 2nd release in the Red, White & Blue Series. We got White several months back, The Rock Album, and this is the Red one (Love Songs). Blue (The Blues) will be out around February/March (not yet announced though).

Friday New Releases – October 25th

We are to the final week of October and Halloween is right around the corner.  I don’t see any scary releases this week except maybe Lea Michele’s Christmas album…that one looks truly frightening and I will stay as far away as I possibly can from that one.  Me, i plan on scaring up a couple for sure and maybe give two others a try.  They are marked in Blue.  Let me know what interests you and what I might have missed.  I hope you find something and have a great weekend!

  • 9113CV5UhSL._SS500_.jpg  Airbourne – Boneshaker – (Spinefarm Records):  The boys from down under are back with another earth shattering, bone rattling rocker.  I have this one on order and the vinyl should be there when I get home. I have everything else they have done on vinyl so why not this one.  If you like AC/DC, you will like this.  They are loud, aggressive and fantastic.  Turn it up and let them blow your ears right off.

  • 91uELDXSA5L._SX522_.jpg  James Blunt – Once Upon a Mind – (Atlantic Records):  And if you want something a little more in the pop arena you won’t find anything better than James Blunt.  His unique voice, great story telling and song writing are always entertaining and worth quite a few spins.  Plus, the man is hilarious.  I saw him live and his self-deprecating humor really made me a fan.  HIs last album, ‘The Afterlove’ was amazing and so I have high expectations for this, his 6th album.
