I can’t believe we are now in November and thankfully, the new releases keep on coming. This past week we had our Presidential Election and since I don’t do politics on this site, we will skip over that mess to say I am so happy no more political adds for quite awhile. Man, I was so sick of those things. It is so hard to chose a candidate because basically you are choosing the lesser of TWO EVILS!! One thing that is easy to choose is which releases I want to hear and those are marked in Blue. Let me know which ones you want to hear and what I may have missed so everyone can know about it. Thanks for stopping by and have a great weekend!
Jeff Scott Soto – Wide Awake (In My Dreamland) – (Frontiers Records): The man is a machine. He puts out so much music whether it is solo, his band SOTO, his band W.E.T. (new one coming in January) or his other band Sons of Apollo. And the cool things is everything is pure quality and his voice doesn’t falter. I have been collecting everything of his on CD and it is tough to keep up as there are probably 50-60 to try and buy. I’m probably only half way through. But this one will arrive today to add to that list.
Whitesnake – Love Songs (2020 Remix) – (Rhino Records): A new Whitesnake…not really as it is a compilation. However, everything is remixed and at least 1 or 2 haven’t been released so it is a good kind of compilation. This is the 2nd release in the Red, White & Blue Series. We got White several months back, The Rock Album, and this is the Red one (Love Songs). Blue (The Blues) will be out around February/March (not yet announced though).
We are at the end of another month and what a way to end it. There are so many releases this week I hope there is something you can find and enjoy. My vacation will be ending this week and then back to work next, so I am going to try and do nothing for a couple days except listen to music. My choices are in Blue. Let me know what you are feeling and if I missed anything. Have a great weekend!!
The Wild Feathers – Greetings from the Neon Frontier – (Reprise Records): This is where I will spend most of my time. I really think these guys are great. They are a mixture of Rock, Folk, Country and blend it all together so nicely. It is always a listening pleasure and so much to take in. Give them a try and as this is their third studio release, go back and get the other two.
Guns N Roses – Appetite for Destruction Super Deluxe Edition – (Geffen Records): What can I say about this one. One of the greatest debut albums by any band and now we get the ultimate deluxe edition. I can’t afford the big daddy release as I just bought the Def Leppard Vinyl collection (Volume One) so I will end up settling for one of the lesser expensive releases. Either way, it is nice to have for the collection.
It is the last Friday of April…amazing how time flies. We have a lot of albums coming out today, but nothing that really excites me. I will pick a couple to listen to, but it looks like a good week to get caught up on previously released albums from the last couple weeks. I hope you can find something that tickles your fancy. Mine are highlighted in Blue.
John Mellencamp – Sad Clowns & Hillbillies – (John J. Mellencamp): Always a fan of the former Mr. Cougar. Whatever he puts out I always give a spin and see what he has to offer. I haven’t heard anything yet so not sure what to expect. I do know it is his 23rd release and will feature Carlene Carter throughout. We will see…or I guess we will hear soon enough.
The Cranberries – Something Else – (The Cranberries & BMG): It has been 5 years since a Cranberries release and that is way too long to go between albums especially for a band as talented as them. Glad to get some new material even if it is only 3 new songs. The rest are acoustic and orchestral versions of 10 previous hits. I am not overly greedy so I will be happy with the 3 new singles even thought I would have preferred a full album of new songs.
Not a ton of releases this Friday, but a few that could be promising. After spending some time at the beach this week with my family, it is nice to be home and enjoy some new music. The ones I will be checking out are in blue.
Blink-182 – California – (Viking Wizard Eyes LLC) – Blink release a new album but without Tom DeLonge, is it really a Blink album? That is the question I am asking and I will give it a listen to see what they give us.
Through Fire – Breathe – (Sumerian Records) – Justin McCain is back with a new band Through Fire. Justin was the founding member of the Emphatic, of which I was a huge fan. Basically, it is the same band with just a name change and a new record label. High hopes for this one.
American Authors – What We Live For – (Island) – Back with their sophomore effort after the huge success of ‘Oh, What a Life’. Can they continue that success or get sucked down by the sophomore slump? We will have to listen and find out.
The Dirty Clergy – Rattlesnake – (Happy Daze Records) – I screwed up and had them on last week when they were only releasing a new single last week. Now the album comes out. It has very simple productions, but some great songs on here. A nice raw quality to the whole thing.
Maxwell – black SUMMERS’ night – (Columbia)
Fates Warning – Theories of Flight – (Inside Out Music)
Pet Shop Boys – Twenty-Something (EP) – (X2 Records)
Bat for Lashes – The Bride – (Warner Bros.)
Magic! – Primary Colours – (Sony Music Entertainment)
