Friday New Releases – October 2, 2020

Welcome to October and this month starts off with a BANG!! There are so many releases this week and a ton I am interested in at the very least, hearing. October has a lot coming so this is only the beginning. Everyone that has been holding off due to Covid is finally being released. This week, I am sure there is something you will find that you like. I am going to highlight my choices in Blue. I want you to let me know what you want to hear and what I may have missed that is coming out. Thank you so much for stopping by and I hope you all have a wonderful weekend!

  • 91MiwNRPU3L._SX522_  Queen & Adam Lambert – Live Around the World – (Hollywood Records): This one is on order and I hope it will arrive sometime today as I am dying to hear this one. I took my daughter to see them on their most recent tour and since Adam sounded amazing, it will be nice to have an album with him on vocals.
  • 71NNfjYV4dL._SS500_  Bon Jovi – 2020 – (Captain Kidd / Island Records): Am I excited about this one or what?? Actually, it is or what! I am not excited at all and do not have this on order. I am only interested in hearing it to confirm to myself that Bon Jovi is still not worth a damn anymore. Now, if I find the vinyl in the used section of my local store and less than $10…I might pick it up as the completist in me feels the need to do. I haven’t liked what I’ve heard so far so my hopes aren’t very high.

Tuesday’s Memes – Covid-19 & Music

We have been stuck at home for weeks now and things are slowly opening back up, but music is changing already.  Who knows when live shows will continue.  Bands have been delaying their new albums which is crazy because I am home and have time to listen, release the damn thing already.  How will things look going forward?  We have no idea yet, but it will be different.  So, we need a few laughs and I have compiled some memes from around the interweb thingy and found a bunch related to Covid and music.  So I hope you enjoy!!

Tuesday’s Memes – Five Finger Death Punch

I was surfing the web and noticed a lot of hate for Five Finger Death Punch or FFDP.  I was surprised…okay, no I wasn’t.  However, it made me think why I haven’t roasted them on the Tuesday’s memes collection.  I know, I have been slack lately, I apologize.  I am here to make up for it.  So I gathered some of the better memes (or at least ones I could find).  Sit back and get ready to receive a Five Finger Death Punch to the face.

Apparently, the are not cool…

Tuesday’s Memes – Creed

Okay, it is time to finally celebrate Creed with a collection of memes…well…maybe not celebrate so much as attack, poke fun, ridicule or anything else that might be a little negative.  Come on, you know you want to.  I wanted to pick ones that celebrated Creed, but honestly, there are none…really!!  Come on…they weren’t that bad.  So sit back and enjoy this collection of memes that are about Scott Stapp and Creed.

Before I get lots a crap for bashing them, it is all in fun.  Plus, I truly couldn’t find any that celebrated the band.

Top Rock Songs of 2017

Welcome to the Top 20 Rock Songs of 2017.  These songs are my favorite songs of the year and were not necessarily played on the radio or even shot up the charts.  They just moved me in some way good or bad!

If you missed the Top Rock Albums of 2017 or the Top Albums of 2017 (that were not Rock), just click on the link and go check them out.

It is time to start the list so here we go…

#20 – “Make It Move” by Jonny Lang off the album ‘Signs’:  The loud stomping sound that opens the song and throughout feels like a train barreling down on you.  The opening track to the album starts it all off with a bang.  The song also delivers a great message that you need to make the move and not wait on something to happen.

Tuesday’s Memes – Classic Rock

Welcome back to another Tuesday’s Memes.  Today, we do another genre focused post and this time, it is Classic Rock.  Classic Rock is anything old and everything good.  Sadly, most classic rock was just rock when I was kid.  Does that make me a Classic now???  I think so!!  Take a trip down memory lane with some good old Classic Rock…Enjoy!!

Adelitas Way – ‘Notorious’ – Album Review

The new album, ‘Notorious’, was released in October 2017 by The Vegas Syn/The Fuel Music. Adelitas Way is from Las Vegas and formed back in 2006. The band now consists of only  Rick DeJesus on lead vocals, Trevor “Tre” Stafford on drums and Andrew Cushing on bass.  Adelitas Way is an independent band and to get this album made they did a Pledgemusic campaign to help fund and after some time, we have this great straight-up rock & roll album.  How long did it take?  Well, the first single came out in September 2016 which is a little over a year before the album finally released.

The album is only 9 songs and at a little over 3 minutes for the average song, you are in and out in about 30 minutes.  Straight and to the point.  No filler, just a sonic blast of rock.  I would rather have an album of 9 great songs than an album of 14 songs with a bunch of filler.  After the slight disappoint I had with their last release, ‘Getaway’, ‘Notorious’ makes amends and proves they can still put out quality work.

The album opens with the title track and third single “Notorious” and comes screaming out of the gate with heavy drums and a wave of guitars.  It is a modern rock song that fully assaults your senses before going straight into the first single from the album “Ready for War (Pray for Peace)”. This rocker doesn’t slow things down and DeJesus sounds great and delivers a catchy, memorable chorus that will make a great song to hear live.  The crowd will be bouncing up and down with their hands in the air.  Andrew Cushing’s bass is also a standout as well as some great guitar work.

Nickelback – ‘Feed the Machine’ – Album Review

I know what you are asking…Why on Earth am I doing a Nickelback review???  I have asked myself that same question over and over again.  But I do have a reason.  I wanted to see if I could objectively review an album despite any prior biases I might have with the band.  It was more of an experiment…a challenge.

Let me give you some history.  I started out as a fan of Nickelback…I mean who didn’t back in the day.  They wrote really catchy songs that got stuck in your head.  Over time, that like became boredom as everything they ever did was the same old shit.  No growth, no diversity.  Then further on, they became a joke, a caricature of themselves.

Then they became down right irritating with stupid, worthless feuds such as the recent spat with Stone Sour’s Corey Taylor.  Now I can’t even listen to Stone Sour’s album as a result.  They both had albums coming out around the same time so the spat was probably planned for publicity that neither band really needed.  It was so fucking stupid (excuse my language but it was).

That got me thinking even more (which is dangerous).  Do I not like them anymore because of all the negativity that I have heard over the years or is it because they really aren’t that good.  That thought intrigued me.  So, I forced myself to try and wipe all that out of my head and do a solid review on this album as if it wasn’t Nickelback.  As if I hadn’t heard of this band or had no idea who did the album.  Did it work???

Tuesday’s Memes – Nickelback

We made it through another Monday and now we need a reason to laugh.  This week, I am focusing on Nickelback.  Why?  Because why not…Chad Kroeger won’t shut the f#$# up and his little spat with Corey Taylor is almost comical and completely sad.  And that spat is so bad that when I listened to Stone Sour’s new album I thought it sucked as bad as Nickelback’s new one.  Everyone gives Nickelback a hard time and every time Chad opens his mouth, I know why.

So, I am going to poke fun at the them as well…Enjoy and have a great rest of the week.
