Finally!! Yes, there are some albums I am actually excited about this week. It has been awhile for me since the last week that anything I was anxiously awaiting. This week, I have two that will definitely get a spin first thing in the morning while I am sitting at home in my office like I have for the last two months…I can’t wait to sit in traffic and drive to work. I never thought I would say that!!! Anyhoo, my choices are highlighted in Blue. Let me know what you are interested in hearing and what I may have missed. Thanks for stopping by and have a great weekend!!
- Dennis DeYoung – 26 East, Vol. 1 – (Frontiers Records): I couldn’t tell you the last time a Dennis DeYoung record got any press, but this one is making the rounds. I have heard nothing but positive comments on this one so far, so it has really piqued my interest. I have heard there is a strong Styx element and why wouldn’t there be as he was a huge part of that sound. We will see.
- One Desire – Midnight Empire – (Frontiers Records): Okay, this one might the first one getting a spin this morning. These two songs I have heard so far are a couple of the best I’ve heard this year. If you like some solid guitar driven, heavy melodic rock with a guy that can sing his heart out, this is the one for you to hear. I think this is going to be the one to beat this year.
And there are some solid releases that I think people will like, but I will get to if I can (at least some of these…
- The 1975 – Notes On a Conditional Form – (Polydor/Interscope)
- Indigo Girls – Look Long – (Rounder Records / Concord)
- Steve Earle – Ghosts of West Virginia – (New West Records)
- Pretty Maids – Maid in Japan: Future World Live – (Frontiers Records)
- FM – Synchronized – (Frontiers Records)
- Black Rainbows – Cosmic Ritual Supertrip – (Heavy Psych Sounds)
- Caligula’s Horse – Rise Radiant – (Century Media)
- Ulcerate – Stare Into Death And Be Still – (Debemur Morti Productions)
- The Airborne Toxic Event – Hollywood Park – (Rounder Records / Concord)
- Alina Baraz – It Was Divine – (Mom & Pop Music)
- Tiffany – Pieces of Me Unplugged E.P. – (Outright Rock Records)
The 1975 AND Carly Rae Jepsen = Totally the best week of the whole year.

I’m so glad for you! For me, next week might be that week. 2 Def Leppard Live albums, Rush Anniversary album, Lady Gaga and many more.

My wallet is waiting for next week as I haven’t bought anything for this week…but if that One Desire album is as good as the first couple songs I’ve heard, that will get bought and make my end of year list.

ATE would be the one I’m most interested in – their debut is one of my favourites from the 2000s. I wonder if they’re getting any grief about the band name these days.
I still admire Anthrax’s response, when questioned about the appropriateness of their name during an Anthrax scare – change the name to baskets of puppies, so as not to offend anyone!

I don’t really know them except by name. I might check that out. And I am sure they have fielded a question or two about it. I am ready for the next metal to come out called Covid-19 or The Corona Virus.

Yeah, same here. It was okay overall. The songs I heard before it came out were really good. I think I need a good drive around in the car listen before I say for sure.
