I learned a new phrase today. I learned that Friday’s are also called “POETS” Day. A British slang I believe for “Piss Off Early, Tomorrow’s Saturday”. So why don’t we all celebrate “POETS” Day every Friday and treat ourselves to some music. There are a good amount of releases today and my choice is highlighted in Blue. Let me know what you are interested in hearing and what I missed on the list as I only usually put stuff on here for bands that I actually know something about so I miss a lot. Thanks for stopping by and I hope you have a wonderful weekend…now Piss Off!!
Dee Snider – For the Love of Metal (Live) – (Napalm Records): Speaking of live albums, we have a new one from Dee Snider from this tour of his latest album, For the Love of Metal. Looking forward to hearing this as that was a great album.
And here are the rest…some good stuff that might get checked out in the near future…
The Psychedelic Furs – Made of Rain – (Cooking Vinyl)
Black Veil Brides – Re-Stitch These Wounds – (Sumerian Records)
Lionheart – The Reality of Miracles – (Metalville Records)
Alcatrazz – Born Innocent – (Silver Lining Music)
Paul McCartney – Flaming Pie (The Archive Collection) – (Capitol Records)
Jon Anderson – 1000 Hands – (Blue Elan Records)
Steve Howe – Love Is – (BMG Rights Mgmt)
Brandy – B7 – (Urban/Entertainment One)
Warkings – Revenge – (Napalm Records)
Chris Tomlin – Chris Tomlin & Friends – (Sparrow Records) – Digital Only – CD on August 28th
Rascal Flatts – How They Remember You – (Big Machine)
Thelonious Monk – Pal Alto (Live) – (Impulse Records / UMG)
And I can’t forget Alanis…pure oversight on this one so I will add her here at the end…so last but not least…
Alanis Morrisette – Such Pretty Forks in the Road
It’s funny that Jon Anderson and Steve Howe have new albums on the same day. The rest of the year isn’t looking very exciting from my perspective.

I’m glad you caught that. I found that strange as I would think they would have the same fan base. Is it a competitive thing between the two of them, a hatred for each other, or simply by chance.

Is it like when Kiss’ members all recorded solo albums on the same day? No idea how many current/former Yes members are around – 15? Imagine 15 on the same day.

Not quite. If at least 4 members did it, then yes, like Kiss.

Flaming Pie is my favourite Paul McCartney 90s album. I originally bought it on CD, but hopefully by the end of the weekend I’ll have the reissue on vinyl.

I’ve always liked The Psychedelic Furs but didn’t know they were still actively making music, so it’s a surprise to see a new album release from them. From the track “No One” that you included, they still sound pretty good, so I’ll be giving their album a listen.

I had no idea they were still active either. I might give that one a try myself.

Might have to check out that Snider live album. Looks like a good mix of stuff on it.

That is the only release I will go out of my way to listen to, but no others. I will get to them when I can.

I’ll get the Alcatrazz. Love Bonnet and I’ve been hearing good things about it.

Of any of these, the Thelonious Monk appeals to me most!

POETS is a new term to me too!
I’m probably most intrigued by Alanis, hard to believe it’s been 25 years since Jagged Little Pill

Why can I just not care about Dee Snider anymore?
That Alcatrazz sounds brutal.

I don’t know. Maybe his mouth lately. I did really like the last album. This was okay. I haven’t listened to Alcatrazz yet. But I will give it a try.
