Another Friday is upon us and I am glad you made it through another week. I am sure my kids are glad it is Friday as well since they started school this past week. It is a different type of school for them now thanks to COVID. But one thing that hasn’t changed is Friday is new release day. There is a lot here this week, but there isn’t at the same time. There is one I am looking forward to and one I will give a spin as it looks interesting and they are both marked in Blue. Let me know what you are excited about and what I may have missed. Thanks for stopping by and have a fabulous weekend!!
The Lemon Twigs – Songs for the General Public – (4AD Ltd): I know nothing about this band, but the album cover with them dressed very glam like has made me interested in spinning this one. I need something new, so hopefully this will satisfy that craving.
The Killers – Imploding the Mirage – (Island Records): This album got bounced around so much due to Covid, I lost track of the release date and missed having it as a featured cover on the header. However, this is the main one I would want to hear this week. Sorry this was added late, but it has been added.
And then there are a lot more here for you to give a try! I hope you find something you like…
Tim McGraw – Here on Earth – (McGraw Music / Big Machine)
The Georgia Thunderbolts – The Georgia Thunderbolts E.P. – (Mascot Label Group)
Old 97’s – Twelfth – (ATO Records)
Jefferson Starship – Mother of the Sun – (Secret Knock)
Erasure – The Neon – (Mute Artists LTD)
blackbear – everything means nothing – (Beartrap / Alamo / Interscope Records)
Mad Max – Stormchild Rising – (Steamhammer)
Kill the Lights – The Sinner – (Fearless Records)
Incantation – Sect of Vile Divinities – (Relapse)
Bright Eyes – Down in the Weeds, Where the World Once Was -(Dead Oceans)
Snow Patrol & the The Saturday Songwriters – The Fireside Sessions E.P. – (Polydor LTD)
Cold War Kids – New Age Norms 2 – (AWAL Recordings)
Unleash the Archers – Abyss – (Napalm Records)
Josh Turner – Country State of Mind – (MCA Nashville)
Katherine Jenkins – Cinema Paradiso – (Decca Records)
I’m a big fan of the Mad Max films. Maybe I’ll check the band out simply for their name

Kill the lights will get a listen. Well take it from there.

That lady in the thumbnail of the Kill the Lights video wears an expression as if she’s getting cunnilingus just out of frame.

I hope you like it. I really don’t know their music. You will have to let us now how it is.

Screaming verses and melodic Chorus.

That is what I would expect from them.

The Mad Max films are better.

The Mad Max films are better than 99% of all things that do and don’t exist. You could probably leave this comment on any blog post that anybody in our “group” has posted and it would always be true. Hell, I’m off to review them now. I was gonna post-pone Filmtastic Friday to accommodate the conclusion of my R.E.M. series, but screw it. I’ll do both, and they’ll like it!

I headed over to your site and saw the reviews. God damn that was fast.

Did you guys here it was announced a few days ago that Kino Lorber is putting out the original Mad Max on 4K UHD? UHD discs are always region free, so you guys can import two of those motherfuckers and have movie night together.
Too bad they’re not putting out Beyond Thunderdome too. That’s Harrison’s favorite.

Hey hey hey. That’s bullshit. My favourite is the first two.

Holy assclowns. Harrison said a naughty word!
By favorite is the first two of course you mean the first two hours of the third movie (the whole thing) is your favorite, right?

Yeah, good luck with that one.

Not much there for me. There’s an Anthrax reissue out today so I’ll be getting that.

The Killers new album needs a mention! I haven’t had a chance to listen to it yet but I hope it’s a good one.

That album got bounced around so much that I missed it finally landed somewhere. I have rectified that problem and it is now mentioned in the post. Thanks so much.

I only listened to a few seconds of Mad Max. They seem to have a classic Deep Purple vibe. I’m going to listen further.

I will probably give them a try this week, especially if a little DP vibe.

It is slight but it is there! I can’t imagine our Canadian accents are gold to anyone’s ears.

No problem with the accent on my end. I actually don’t really notice the Canadian accent much until one of you says…eh!

I see Petty is coming out with a Wildflowers deluxe in Oct. I always liked that album and in a couple of weeks the Stones with Goats Head Soup the deluxe as well. I’ll wait it out til than..
Thanks though for doing your duty at keeping us informed!

There are way too many deluxe sets coming out…don’t forget Thin Lizzy as well. I can’t keep up and definitely can’t financially!

I like The Lemon Twigs…they have some really good power pop. I’ve seen them doing the Abbey Road medley live and it’s really good.

I have no problem with artists putting out their stuff but I must say that, at this point, I don’t even know what the band name ‘Jefferson Starship’ refers to.

Ha! Yes, I don’t get that one at all. I was stunned when I saw that out there to be released. Who is even in the band now?
