Friday New Releases – November 27, 2020

Here in the States, yesterday was Thanksgiving and this year we really do have a lot to be thankful for despite how bad 2020 has been. And since it is New Release Friday, we have even more to be thankful for and this is also Record Store Black Friday so dang, even more. I am not listing the Record Store Day stuff as it is too numerous plus not everyone has a local, independent store to buy from. If you want the list, click…RECORD STORE DAY LIST. Now, this Friday on our normal releases, they are plentiful as well. Take a look at the list and let me know what you want to hear. There isn’t anything I am running out to buy right now, but a few I will stream in the meantime to see what they brought. Thanks for stopping by and have a great and wonderful Weekend!! Oh yeah, my choices are in Blue…as usual.

  • 81+akZQU0pL._SX522_  Miley Cyrus – Plastic Hearts – (RCA / Sony): Miley has been putting out some rocking covers lately and she has a voice that suits that genre pretty well. For that reason alone, I am looking forward to hearing this to see if she is bringing the rock…plus I am sure my kids will be listening to it so I am hearing it regardless.
  • 61NzJ4Ta0AL._SX522_  Smashing Pumpkins – CYR – (Sumerian Records): Here is the thing. I am not a huge Pumpkins fan, but I am still interested in hearing what they have for us for some strange reason.
  • 716JMmZB9lL._SX522_ Kenny Wayne Shepherd – Straight to You: Live – (Provogue): Now, this one I am legit interested in hearing. I do like me some Kenny. I love his playing and I love some good blues at the same time. I also like the fact this is Live so let’s see if he brings the goods for this one. I am sure he does.
  • 919KnGsYfNL._SX522_  Billie Joe Armstrong – No Fun Monday – (Warner Bros): Mr. Armstrong was doing the No Fun Monday’s during the Covid Pandemic and this is a collection of all those covers. I am not huge on covers all the time, but I like the ones he has on here. Some different choices than you would expect to hear from him.

And then you have all the rest…

  • 91BsRjzuhvL._SS500_  Jaded Heart – Stand Your Ground – (Massacre Records / SoulFood)

  • A134JQpNWzL._SS500_  Sodom – Genesis XIX – (SPV Spy Schallplatten / Entertainment One)
  • 81PUoeP7bQL._SS500_  Volbeat – Rewind, Replay, Rebound (Live in Deutschland) – (Vertigo Berlin / Universal)

          1. Glad your trip was successful, can’t wait to read all about it!

Also on a random note, my Def Leppard Volume Two CD set came in today and I am pumped! I am so happy to finally have a physical copy of “When Love and Hate Collide,” the demo version with Steve’s last recorded guitar solo. I’ll be reviewing that boxet for sure!

Sorry for the extra info, just thought I tell you since you’re a huge Leppard fan yourself. Not sure if you bought any Def Leppard stuff this November, did you?

            1. That is awesome you go the Vol 2 box set. That is a great one. I was so happy to get that on vinyl as I didn’t have any of them on vinyl before. I am ready for Vol 3 now to come out.

Yes, sort of. I bought a Down N Outz EP which is Joe Elliott’s side band.

              1. Volume 2 is awesome. Volume 3 would be cool, but I’m more curious about Volume 4, since they’ll probably include the rest of their studio albums on the third one.

Oh Down N Outz nice! They’re good, sadly I just buy Def Leppard stuff. I’m not much into side projects. Is the EP good?

  1. I’m intrigued by the live KWS, and am wondering about that Jimmy Buffett (needs research – is it another Hits set, a companion to Songs You Know By Heart?). Hm. Same with the Clutch, a hits set? So much Googling in my future! I don’t follow Billie Joe but covers might be fun. Is that the stuff he was doing with his kids? Much to consider this week, thanks!

  2. Curious about a lot of these, but not buying any.

I already have the definitive version of Lightning to the Nations, the original version as released on vinyl plus all the singles and B-sides. A re-recording doesn’t do it for me.
