Yesterday was April Fool’s Day, but that is what today feels like since there isn’t much coming out this week. You do have the return of Demi Lovato and a new Shakey Grave album, but outside of that there isn’t much else. And for me, there really isn’t anything I want to hear so a good chance for me to catch up on all the stuff that came out in March. I would say my choices are highlighted in Blue, but there is only one so it is highlight in Blue. Let me know what you want to hear and what we may have missed because I am sure there are. Thanks for stopping by and have a great weekend.
The Fratellis – Half Drunk Under a Full Moon – (Cooking Vinyl Ltd): The Fratellis are a personal favorite of mine so anytime I can get a new album, I’m thrilled. They are on their 6th Studio so between their studio albums and Jon Fratellis solo albums, they keep me happy. I love their garage rock style mixed with a post-punk feel. They sound vintage and I like it. Bring it on…
Demi Lovato – Dancing With The Devil…The Art of Starting Over – (Island Records / UMG)
Shakey Graves – Roll The Bones X – (Dualtone Music Group)
Helloween – Skyfall – (Nuclear Blast)
Flock of Dimes – Head of Roses – (Sub Pop Records)
Cactus – Tightrope – (Purple Pyramid) – no video
Mindy Abair – The Best of Mindy Abair – (Pretty Good for Girl)
Kelly Price – Grace E.P. – (Motown Gospel / Capitol)
John Schneider – Truck On – (Maven Entertainment)
Ivan B – Frames – (Fromivanb)
Leslie Jordan – Company’s Comin’ – (Pony Farm Prod. / Dirt Heel Music)
Level 42 – Complete Polydor Years Volume One: 1980-1984 (10 CD set) – (Robinsongs)
The Helloween song sounds kind of cool, but what a stupid fucking video! Puts me off of it a bit.
Keeper of the Seven Keys Pt. I is the tits.

I didn’t pay attention to the video, but the song wasn’t bad. Now I have to go watch it.

Helloween, so cool.
Here’s a video of them talking about the song…There’s 3 different versions, Kiske, Hansen and Deris each doing vocals.

Always thought she had a great voice — would love to hear her rock out one day!

I bet she could do it.

I’m certain of it, but we’ll see what she wants to do!

I like the stuff she did on her first two albums because it was pop-rock, but then after that, she started doing more pop and R&B, which turned me off.

No interest in even Helloweeen? Classic power metal band reunited with classic singer Michael Kiske.

I won’t say no interest, just not in a hurry to hear it.

That was in reply to Michael.

It’s not a secret now, the whole world knows (or at least the 100 people that will see this post!)

I almost did a ‘Songs with the Same Title’ post about Demi Lovato and I talked a lot of sh*t about her later songs and how much I miss her pop-rock sound from her first two albums. But I got rid of it when I saw the trailer for her new documentary because I’d feel bad about saying negative stuff about someone that just overdosed on drugs. But seriously, stuff like “Get Back” are bangers and I know there are people that like her later songs, but ughhhh!!!

Yeah and growing up on Disney Channel is not easy either, so there’s also that.

John Schneider is still trucking on, eh? Good for him!

I guess, but not something I’d ever listen to.

Yeah slow day of releases for me. Helloween is a band I still check out based on their 80s releases.

I like the cut of that Shakey Graves’ jib, so I do.
Also, I can never tell if John Schnieder is honestly making these throwback records with his whole heart, or if he’s taking the pish.

I should try that one as I’ve heard good things. I think Schnider is serious, but man, it ain’t good stuff.

Spend some time on the Tubes Of You with Shakey. There’s a pile out there. He’s something else.
There should be a whole series on the cover art of country music and trucks. There’s a lot.

I will do that. And I will skip the county music truck series (unless you do one).

Ha I don’t own enough country music albums with trucks on the cover to be able to. It’s a neat idea for somebody out there, though.
