Happy Friday Everyone! It is time for another week of new releases and for me there is one I am super excited about and one I’m curious as to how they will follow-up on the success of their last album. Plus a bunch more that might be really interesting to hear. I will mark all my choices in Blue as usual. Now, your turn…what do you want to hear from the list? What may I have missed including on the list? Please let me know so we can make sure everyone else knows about it as well. Thanks so much for stopping by on this wonderful day and I hope everyone has a fantastic weekend!!
Needtobreathe – Live From the Woods, Vol. 2 – (Elektra Records): Back in March, Needtobreathe did a few live shows which I think were socially distanced of course and now they are releasing the best of those shows as an album. The follow-up to Live From the Woods, Vol. 1 obviously. My vinyl is on order and will probably be here in about 3 months, but the digital piece is here today!! Enjoy!! You will have to go to about 2 minutes in to get the song…the rest is the band talking to James Corden.
Greta Van Fleet – The Battle of Garden’s Gate – (Republic Records): Greta Van Fleet is back with the follow-up to their very successful debut Gold album, Anthem of the Peaceful Army. This is the one that will determine whether the band has any staying power. The songs I’ve heard so far haven’t been bad, but I am interested to hear them in an album setting as that makes a big difference for me. We will see if they can do it.
The Vintage Caravan – Monuments – (Napalm Records): I don’t these guys, but I love the vintage 70’s rock vibe I’m getting. I think I’ll check this one out…last minute add.
And the batch of albums, I will try to give a listen to when I am able…
The Offspring – Let The Bad Times Roll – (Wabi Sabi Worldwide / Concord Records): 9 years since their last album and their 10th overall album. I am intrigued to hear what they bring to the table after such a long absence.
Tom Petty – Finding Wildflowers (Alternate Versions) – (Petty Legacy / Warner Music): If the new Wildflowers Deluxe album wasn’t enough, there are even more versions of the album. Is this too much of a good thing??? Ummm…NO!!!!
Paul McCartney – McCartney III Imagined – (Capitol Records): Paul just released Macartney III so what is this you ask. It is a reimagined album with help from other singers. Interesting choice…
Norah Jones – ‘Til We Meet Again (Live) – (Blue Note Records / Capitol): Ohhh Nora!! What a talent, what a voice and now live…yes please!!
And all the rest…
Eric Church – Heart – (EMI Records Nashville / UMG)
Triston Marez – Triston Marez – (Torrez Music Group)
Two Feet – Max Marco is Dead Right? – (Two Feet / AWAL)
Cannibal Corpse – Violence Unimaginable – (Metal Blade Records)
Hail the Sun – New Age Filth – (Equal Vision Records)
Icon of Sin – Icon of Sin – (Frontiers Records)
Temple Balls – Pyromide – (Frontiers Records)
To The Grave – Epilogue – (Unique Leader Records)
While She Sleeps – Sleeps Society – (Spinefarm Records)
Marty Friedman – Tokyo Jukebox 3 – (The Players Club)
Jethro Tull – A (A La Mode) 40th Anniversary Edition – (Rhino / Parlaphone)
Imelda May – 11 Past the Hour – (Decca Records / Universal)
After all my posts, no interest in Two Feet?

It made my list because of your posts, if that makes you feel better. I will give it a try only because you said something.

Looks like I’m buying A again.
I’m bored with Greta, and the Offspring can fuck right off.

How many copies of A do you have?

Just one. I bought the CD/DVD deluxe about a decade ago.

Didn’t realize Marty Friedman was THAT good on the guitar.

A busy week! Credit where credit is due, there’s something to be said for having an instantly identifiable voice, and Dexter from the Offspring would definitely be in that category

Yes, he definitely would.

Needtobreathe: THIS will make John VERY happy! Woohoo!!!
Tom Petty: My copy has been on Amazon pre-order since Boppin told me about it a while back. I expect a Shipped notice shortly!
Vintage: That song is quite a wall of sound. Cool.
Norah: “Ohhh Nora!! What a talent, what a voice and now live…yes please!!” And don’t forget goreous. Definitely gorgeous.
Offspring: Haha I know Mike won’t be excited about thhis, but for myself I’ll at least want to hear what they have to say.
Greta: I dunno, just doesn’t grab me. Good on ’em for carrying on, though.
Cannibal: I am impressed they are still going, right on. Did you know Jim Carrey (the actor) is a huge fan?
Jethro: That set looks sweet! I only own a couple of their albums, Mike hand-me-downs!
Imelda May: I love that cover photo on her album. That’s a great one! And if Ronnie Wood was in any way involved, I’m definitely curious.
Also:
Gojira: don’t forget, April 30th the new Gojira record, Fortitude, will drop! GOJIRA!! GOJIRA!! GOJIRA!!

Now this is a comment!! Nice!!! NTB has made me very happy. I would’ve been happier if the vinyl wasn’t so far out, but at least I can stream. The Greta one isn’t bad. Listening to it now. And Gojira will be one of the tops on my list for the 30th, don’t you worry!!

Haha sometimes I don’t have much to say, sometimes you gotta stop me! NTB is probably stuck dealing with Covid delay/waiting, just like everyone else. Man the tracks I’ve heard from the Gojira are so awesome.

And if Gojira wasn’t enough for the 30th…there is another Guided by Voices album coming as well!!

I know!! I wasn’t sure if that’d make your list, though!

Of course they would. There are over 30 albums on that day. They had a good shot at making it.

Yeah slow week for me this week. All of these releases are “when I have time” releases and Frontiers is getting predictably boring and same same.
LikeLiked by 1 person
Yes Frontiers is. And I do love their album covers generally. I can pick out their albums solely based on the cover as they are all similar in style and color palate.

I got Greta and Petty and enjoying both. The Greta naysayers on here know not of what they speak. I’ll be reviewing them when I get done with this Hip business.

The Greta new one is good, but I felt they overreached and it felt like they were trying to be bigger than the songs really are if that makes any kind of sense.

Yeah, I don’t know if I agree but I hear what you’re saying. I’m going to do a deep dive on it for a review. It sounds great to me on the surface.

Yes, on the surface, it sounds good. They were very ambitious with this one.
