Happy Friday. We have a long weekend here in the States as we celebrate Independence Day on July 4th. Which is why I am guessing this is not a strong week of new releases. Where I had 45 albums last week, there are only 14 listed this week. There are two I am interested in and they are highlighted in Blue. I hope there is something here for you! Let me know what you want to hear and what I may have missed. Thanks so much for stopping by and have a great Holiday Weekend!!
Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers – Angel Dream (Songs and Music from the Motion Picture “She’s the One”) – (Petty Legacy / Warner): To celebrate the 25th anniversary of the release of She’s The One, the album has been re-imagined as Angel Dream – and is the final chapter of the audio releases relating to Petty’s masterpiece Wildflowers.
Richard Marx – Stories to Tell: Greatest Hits and More – (BMG Rights Mgt): Richard Marx is releasing a book called ‘Stories to Tell’ and this is the greatest hits package to accompany that book. It also has includes never before released demos of his hits, live tracks & brand new recordings and since I am fan of Mr. Marx, especially his Twitter page, this is a perfect piece to add to the collection.
Earl Slick – Fist Full of Devils – (Schnitzel)
Crack the Sky – Between the Cracks – (Carry On Music)
At the Gates – The Nightmare of Being – (Century Media Records)
Born of Osiris – Angel or Alien – (Sumerian Records)
Year of No Light – Consolamentum – (Pelagic Records)
Sebastion Plano – Save Me Not – (Mercury Classics)
The Go! Team – Get Up Sequences Part One – (Memphis Industries)
Laura Mvula – Pink Noise – (Warner / Atlantic / Flamingo Records)
JXDN – Tell Me About Tomorrow – (DTA Records / Elektra)
Jeff Lorber Fusion – Space-Time – (Shanachie)
Lord of the Lost – Judas – (Napalm Records)
Desperate Journalist – Maximum Sorrow! – (Fierce Panda Records)
Dennis Lloyd – Some Days – (MTFKR, Ltd / Arista Records / Sony)
Why does so much knew metal sound like a freakin’ techno hybrid? What happened to this?

I think Earl Slick’s is the only one I’m interested in this week.

I was excited to see he had an album out. I hope it is a good one.

I really like that tune, so hopefully the album has that vibe. Hopefully get a chance to give it a listen later or over the weekend.

I know he’s not on the list but it’s Jimmy Barnes for me.

Nothing absolutely urgent for me – but I feel like I should have a Richard Marx compilation in the collection at some point!

I think you should. I ordered it plus his new book that comes out next week. Both signed!! I am looking forward to it.

Tom Petty for me and Earl Slick could be interesting. Did u see that doc on sidekicks in which he and Bernard from the Stones were on?
I’m listening to Fozzy Happenstance. Full of fun covers.

I did not. Was it good? And any Fozzy is good.

Yes, I liked it. Think it was called Rock’n’Roll Guns for Hire: The Story of the Sidemen. Wendy and Lisa were in it too. Had no idea they are doing music to tv series now. Felt bad for Slick and Bernard and how uncertain their jobs have been. And the shock for Wendy and Lisa when they were just replaced.

Sounds good and sounds a little like Hired Gun.

Best thing about Twitter is Marx. He is a savage when the trolls come out. Always makes for a great read…

He is awesome. I am looking forward to his book next week.

Petty just came in today! I’m clueless about the rest!

Is it just a remaster? Is there anything else special about it?

I think it might be a remaster only. But I’m not sure.

More research required, thanks!

It is not a remaster. Four new tracks and some of the She’s The One songs redone. Nothing duplicated from the Wildflowers releases.

That is awesome. I didn’t realize that.

Looks like I am off to buy the Tom Petty. Also, I thought Crack The Skye was Mastodon for a split second there… but nope.

Do u know what’s the story behind naming the greatest hits Stories to tell since there’s acoustic album by the same name too. I’m listening to it at the moment. Confusing…

No, I am afraid I don’t. My only thought is he used that title to soon and really liked it so stole it for the book as well (and greatest hits)
