You Pick It! – Which Album To Review in August?

You, my reader, are going to pick an album for me to review each month.  It is really simple…first, I will give you 5 albums to choose from and second, you will tell me which one of those you would like to see reviewed on the site.  See…simple!

There are a few simple rules I have put in to place in my selections.  They are…

  • One has to be a new release (within the last month)
  • One has to be one I have never heard before (new releases don’t count for this one)
  • One has to be from a genre I don’t normally listen to at all or very often
  • And the last two are choices from my collection that I haven’t reviewed before

What are the 5 albums you ask?  Funny you should ask because I have those right here…

New Release – The Wallflowers – ‘Exit Wounds’

Never Heard Before – The Sex Pistols – ‘Never Mind the Bollocks’

Not My Normal Genre – Wu Tang Clan – ‘Enter the Wu Tang (36 Chambers)’

From My Collection – Black Sabbath – ‘Paranoid’

From My Collection – Twisted Sister – ‘Under the Blade’

Let me know which one you would like to see and sometime in August, I will post a review of the album that gets the most votes. You have one week to decide and from there I will start listening to the album and do a review.

Thanks for participating!!

      1. It was either Wu Tang Clan or The Wallflowers for me, went and listened to the Wallflowers and liked what I heard. Was never into the Pistols, or any sort of heavy metal. I think Twisted Sister and Black Sabbath are Heavy metal but could be wrong.

        1. Sabbath & Twisted are metal!! I had never been in to the Pistols myself but it is always ranked as a great album so figured I’d pick it as one of the choices. An Wu Tang, I’ve never heard either and wanted to check out theirs if selected.

  1. What?????? U never heard Never mind the bollocks? Hasn’t almost everyone done covers of Pistols songs? Mötley, Mötorhead, Antrax, even Bananarama. There’s tons. U really haven’t heard the album?
And u even like Generation X.

      1. Should have seen my eyes go wide reading that u haven’t heard it. It’s a classic. Even if it doesn’t get chosen could u still go and listen on utube or somewhere? It says on wikipedia that it’s only 38:44 minutes long.
Difficult to grasp this. Next you will be telling us that u haven’t listened to L.A.M.F…..

    1. Why the question mark…not confident about your pick? I think it is a good choice. It is a band I’ve never listened to as it is not a genre I really listen to so thought it would be a fun pick.

  2. There are at least three here I want you to review. But I’m going to go with Bollocks. I quite like the album but find I cannot listen to it frequently. It’s so abrasive. I want to know what you think.

  3. ALL FIVE. You made this choice very difficult!

Man, how have you never heard Never Mind…? That’s an all-timer for me. I’ve gotta give my vote to it, just so you have the chance of hearing it.

  4. thanks for the shock. I listened to Bollocks twice today! Always refreshing. Makes me shake my head and making faces like a hooligan and dreaming of colouring my hair orange. So a typical summer feel….
    Listening to Lemonheads now.

      1. Don’t get me wrong, Never Mind the Bollocks is a classic record, but I think PIL put out a wider volume of great stuff. Metal Box is the opus, Flowers of Romance is a personal favorite.

Never Mind is a tough listen. It’s so aggressive. I was into thrash then and it still took several listens for it to click with me. Now of course I’ve heard much more extreme/unlistenable music.

    1. I sent Harrison their song Sub-mission once and he liked it despite disliking punk.

Their manager told them to write a song about BDSM/submission, so Lydon wrote the song about a sub-mission. A submarine on a mission. That’s punk!

        1. The original punk band, England fuck off though. Robert Plant saying Nirvana was our first punk band is so silly! Obviously he never heard The Ramones.

  5. I was going to say the Sex Pistols because I’m curious about your thoughts on the guy’s voice (since I hate it lol), but I’m suggesting Black Sabbath’s ‘Paranoid’ because it features a lot of classic Sabbath songs.

  6. (2 Loud 2 Old Music) be tossin’, enforcin’ my style is awesome. (This site) is causing more family feuds than Richard Dawson. And the survey says, you’re dead. Fatal flying guillotine chops off your f—ing head!
