Things are heating up as we are now in the middle of Summer and if you think it is hot outside, just look at the heat on this list of new releases. There are 44 albums set and ready to go so there is something for you I am sure. We have metal, rock, pop, folk, country, world, r&b, alternative, indie and probably genres I’ve never heard of until now. There are 2 I am interested in hearing, but not so much buying just yet. They are marked in Blue as usual. Let me know what you want to hear or what I may have missed as I am sure there is still something out there I don’t know about. Thanks for stopping by and I hope you all stay cool and have a wonderful weekend.
John Mayer – Sob Rock – (Columbia Records / Sony): The new Mayer album intrigues me especially with an album cover that celebrates an old Richard Gere movie. I heard that this might be where Mayer turns into Clapton with his sound or maybe even yacht rock, but I will have to wait and hear it.
Ida Mae – Click Click Domino – (Vow Road / Thirty Tigers): Ida Mae is a British band that plays American roots music. When I saw them open for Needtobreathe, I was hooked by their sound. The husband and wife duo are great together. I can’t wait to hear the new one and see what new they have to offer.
And then all the rest…I hope there is something for you to enjoy!

What you’re not buying Barenaked? The guys who made the second best debut album of all time after Van Halen, according to my panel last week? 😉

8 track is more Tim’s deal but why not, Deke must be a super fan since they made the #2 debut of all time lol

I missed that week. If Barenaked Ladies came 2nd then maybe I didn’t miss much.

If the show was about the most fun debut of all time, then that would have been good.
They were hard to take serious at times though.
I’ve met Steven Page and he signed all my stuff. Nice guy. But best debut album. It may of may not even make my top 100. Probably not. Beating Guns, Boston, Sabbath, Zep, Cars, Petty, CCR, Metallica, and 100 more. Nope.

Nothing for me this week, but I guess that’s the perk of not liking a lot of bands, it saves me cash for the bands I do like! Like Deke said, props to you for doing these new releases posts every week. Your research is much appreciated!

Thanks and I am glad you enjoy them even when you don’t find anything you like. At least you have the potential of finding something. My problem is I like too much stuff.

Of course! I also enjoy seeing the different album covers because there are some creative artists out there. Aaron likes too much stuff too, so you are not alone.

5 copies of Barenaked. 2 for me and 1 for each of my co-hosts for voted for it.

I was so surprised about that actually. They weren’t big down here but for like an album or 2. And it was that episode which is why it was so close to the top as I figured you guys would be interested in it.

By us guys, please make sure that doesn’t include me lol.
Total surprise. Can’t believe that happened last week. Glad the band are a still recording 30 years later.

Jeez, imagine being an artist on Frontiers.
They drop so many albums at once that those albums compete against each other.

It is stupid in my opinion. Do one a week or even 2 but 4 to 8 at one time is crazy.

I agree. And from what I’m reading, the artists spend their own dollars to record it and then sign their masters away with the hope that Frontiers will make em big.

And I’ve been cranking Times Of Grace. A great album and a review coming soon on it.

Bad timing for these albums to come out the day before Record Store Day. A bunch of people will be waiting until tomorrow to try and buy exclusive stuff, and with time limits and having only so much cash, these albums will probably get overlooked.

Maybe not, as there was nothing I had to have this RSD. Now last month’s RSD there was a bunch

That’s a huge week! I’m happy to see BNL with a new record. I will be buying the John Mayer even though I was told not to buy anything for myself with my birthday approaching. He did a cool interview for Apple Music where he talked about why he went this direction.

I am listening to it now and totally love it!! I might buy this one!!

Right on. I have only heard the one track, Last Train Home, as I want to hear the whole album as a piece. I will definitely be buying it.

Some pretty good ones here and Powerwolf definitely got my attention.

New Powerwolf’s on my to-listen list! Also pressed play on a few random ones; Velvet Insane sounds fun.

I need to check out the Velvet Insane as I keep seeing it pop up in places so maybe worth a try.

Nothing for me this week. I’ve tried John Mayer in the past. I think he is at his best when he is with the Grateful Dead.

I’ve never heard his Dead stuff.

He just noodles in the background while they do their thing. Then comes out for an explosive solo once in a while. Perfect.
