Friday New Releases – July 16, 2021

Things are heating up as we are now in the middle of Summer and if you think it is hot outside, just look at the heat on this list of new releases. There are 44 albums set and ready to go so there is something for you I am sure. We have metal, rock, pop, folk, country, world, r&b, alternative, indie and probably genres I’ve never heard of until now. There are 2 I am interested in hearing, but not so much buying just yet. They are marked in Blue as usual. Let me know what you want to hear or what I may have missed as I am sure there is still something out there I don’t know about. Thanks for stopping by and I hope you all stay cool and have a wonderful weekend.

  • 61-OCosgt3S._SX522_  John Mayer – Sob Rock – (Columbia Records / Sony): The new Mayer album intrigues me especially with an album cover that celebrates an old Richard Gere movie. I heard that this might be where Mayer turns into Clapton with his sound or maybe even yacht rock, but I will have to wait and hear it.
  • 81bHDtPZ5kL._SX522_   Ida Mae – Click Click Domino – (Vow Road / Thirty Tigers): Ida Mae is a British band that plays American roots music. When I saw them open for Needtobreathe, I was hooked by their sound. The husband and wife duo are great together. I can’t wait to hear the new one and see what new they have to offer.

Friday New Releases – November 17th

Happy Friday!  Next week is Thanksgiving here in the States and sadly, there isn’t a ton to be thankful for on this week’s releases except for the few new live releases from Iron Maiden, Jeff Lyne’s ELO and Black Sabbath.  Outside of that, I don’t really care too much.  I might give some a listen, but got get through these live albums first.  My choices are highlighted in Blue!  Let me know if anything tickles your fancy.

  • 61NVOd2PN1L._AC_US436_QL65_  Iron Maiden – The Book of Souls: The Live Chapter – (Iron Maiden LLP):  Of course any Iron Maiden live album is a welcome sight and this one is no different.  This will probably be first up on the drive in to work.  I know several of my loyal followers will be devouring this one as well.  You know who you are!!

  • 61UAzisoUHL._AC_US436_QL65_  Black Sabbath – The End – (Eagle Rock Entertainment): The Final Black Sabbath show was captured and now being released.  Not surprising that they are coming to an end, amazingly they lasted as long as they did.  I am interested to see how this show turned out and bid a final farewell to this icon of metal music.  For that alone, it is worth a spin!

Friday New Releases – April 14th

Happy Friday or should I say Good Friday!  Being Easter weekend probably explains the fact there are so few releases this Friday.  However, there is one special one that has my attention…the great Richie Kotzen.  Outside of that I might listen to Barenaked Ladies, but don’t know when and if I will get to others.  As usually my choices are highlighted in Blue.

  • 51yt9kcfX4L._AC_SY200_  Richie Kotzen – Salting Earth – (CD Baby):  Richie Kotzen is a true guitar wizard.  He is back with another solo album and I believe I have lost count after there have been so many.  He was incredible with Poison, Mr. Big and especially with The Winery Dogs and as a solo artist he is even better.  Check out what spells he is casting on this one.

  • 170x170bb (97)  Barenaked Ladies & The Persuasions – Ladies and Gentlemen: Barenaked Ladies & The Persuasions – (Raisin’ Records):  The Barenaked Ladies are collaborating with a cappella group The Persuasions.  The album consists of a lot of rewords from the Barenaked Ladies catalog and one cover of a Persuasion song.  Without Steven Page in the band anymore, are they really the same?  Don’t think so.
