Happy Friday!! You made it through another week so congratulations are in order! And as an award you have an abundance of new releases to pick through and hopefully something will catch you eye. We have the 2nd week in a row with over 50 albums to choose form. I also want to give a shout out to my beautiful wife and wish her a HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!! Today she is ??? I ain’t going to tell you her age, that would be rude!! Now back to the show, I am really excited about one and somewhat about others and I have highlighted all my choices in Blue. Let me know what you want to hear and what albums I may have missed as it does happen. Thanks for stopping by and I hope you all have a wonderful weekend.
Billy Idol – The Roadside E.P. – (BFI Records / Dark Horse Records / BMG): I am so excited about this release as I have been a fan for a long time and I did a whole series of over 20 posts on his career. It was a blast. His new song “Bitter Taste” is actually amazing and I can’t wait to hear the rest. The only disappointing thing is it is an E.P. and only 4 songs, but I will take what I can get at this point. My autographed copy should be here soon.
Daughtry – Dearly Beloved – (Dogtree Records): It has been 3 years since his last release but feels like longer. I like his style of rock as it is pretty damn catchy and he has some great choruses and I like that. I did get oversaturated with him, but I am ready for some more as I feel it has been longer than it has actually been. Here’s to hoping for a good album!!
Candlebox – Wolves – (Pavement Entertainment): Candlebox’s last album I felt was astounding and showcased a band that has been around awhile and can still keep it fresh. I think they have come a long way from their grunge sound but still kept true to themselves. Here’s hoping for some more freshness.
Lindsey Buckingham – Lindsey Buckingham – (Buckingham Records / East West Records / Warner Music): If he isn’t in Fleetwood Mac anymore, fine, I can deal with that but at least I get solo Buckingham and I definitely fine with that.
2 Cellos – Dedicated – (Sony Masterworks): He knew someone could make the cello so cool and these guys do just that. Take pop and rock songs and turn them classical…sounds good to me.
And then we have all the rest and sit back as it is a ton…

Quiet Week?? There are over 50 albums so it isn’t quiet, just not a lot of great stuff that we are all interested in. I have a few so I will be busy.

Yup, that’s what I mean obviously. Quiet week from my perspective.

Both Scotty McCreery and Daughtry are releasing albums the same day? I’ve been doing ‘American Idol’ marathons for weeks, so now I’m seeing ‘American Idol’ everywhere lol! Also, happy birthday to your wife; I hope she has an awesome day!

Thanks. I hope she does as well. Our oldest is coming back from college today for her birthday so we will be thrilled to see her. And I am only interested in that Daughtry album as I can’t do McCreery.

That’s nice your oldest daughter is coming back to spend time with her mom on her birthday. Where does your daughter go to college, far away from your home? Yeah, it’s ok I’m not interested in McCreery either lol!

She goes to a college about 3 hours away. So not too far, but too close either.

Oh 3 hours away, that’s not too bad.

I missed that one. I need to go get Ozzy!!!! I don’t have that one on vinyl!! Waiting for my Billy Idol E.P. to come but it is still in Tennessee so will be a few days probably.

Hey I have that Dream Theater!

Nothing for me, I spent $300 on Metallica so that’s it for me this month.

Yeah, that would make me done as well. If you already have that DT one, what is this release then?

Looks like a reissue with a new cover.

Frontiers strikes again with their sink or swim release schedule. But Daughtry already has my ears this week. It’s great to hear him rocking again.

Thrilled about Daughtry being back. Can’t wait to hear that one. Blasting Idol first though!!

There are several things here I’d like to give a spin, though Carcass is the star of the show for me this week.

Nice! I do love that album cover. Great job on the designer.

Candlebox? As in that band I rocked in university in the early 90s Left Behind and You Candlebox?
Why am I not surprised Dream Theater can just play all of Master Of Puppets in concert. Probably even casually, for a lark.
Is the Raven Age the son of Steve Harris’ band? Or am I thinking of something else? Pretty sure some band with Raven in the title opened with we saw Book of Souls in Toronto in 2016…

Yep, Candlebox is the 90’s band!! Good stuff. Their last album was stellar.

Cool! I had the self-titled and Lucy but then lost track of them. I had no idea they were still going. Time for research.

I looked it up, Raven Age is Harris’ son’s band!

That is cool!!

It is! They were good, but we were there to see the mighty Maiden so they probably lost points for being in the way lol.

Another cool one I saw was when we went to see ROLLINS BAND in Montreal, the opener was Apartment 26, which turned out to have Geezer Butler’s son in it. They weren’t as good as Raven Age, and I really wanted to see ROLLINS so they probably lost points too lol.

Cool. Did you check out Dickinson’s son’s band As Lions? That was an awesome debut album.

Never heard of it. More to check out!! Thanks!

Tons of goodies this week. Yep, count me in on Daughtry train too! Dylan, Lindsey, Dead Sara, Candlebox and Billy!!!!! What a week.
I pre-ordered Billy from my local dealer.
Listening to Elton Caribou at the moment and feeling really weekendy.

Loads there, eh? Jings. Only a couple of interest to me, right enough – Larkin Poe, Dead Sara… maybe the Dylan… possibly check out the Jose Gonzalez album at some point, too.

That is a bunch to listen to if you get to them. Enjoy!

Wow, so much new music! It’s truly mind-boggling! Lots of indie artists I follow are also releasing new singles or EPs today too, and I can’t keep with it all! I’m really liking the new songs by Daughtry, and it’s great seeing him still putting out music. Billy Idol & Melissa Etheridge too.

Too much to keep up with for sure. Crazy how much stuff is coming. I have to be very selective on what I get.

Happy Birthday, Mrs 2loud2oldmusic – I like that there’s a new release named ‘around the sun,’ feels like an appropriate choice for a birthday/another trip around the sun!

Thanks Geoff! I will let her know. And yes, that is an appropriate album title.

Wow, Thrice have a new one out. I’ll have to give it a spin. A friend introduced me to them by lending me To be everywhere is to be nowhere.
Candlebox is a name I haven’t heard in some time. I have three of their albums. It seemed to me that they were drowned out by other bands of the era.

Candlebox did fly under the radar for a long while. I really like their stuff. Very underrated in my book.
