2022 is upon us and it is always fun anticipating what new albums will come out in the year. There are quite a few we already know about, but some haven’t been officially announced or even a date set yet.
Last year, there were a few artist I was hoping would release an album that might have or might not have released one. It is always fun to hope for new music from these bands, but sometimes there are disappointments. Here are the ones I was hoping to get new albums from last year and what actually happened…
- Def Leppard – I don’t care if I get new music, but give me The Collection Volume 3 at least!!! – We did get The Collection Volume 3!!!
- Kiss – I will keep this on the list until I die!! – We did get a Live Bootleg album in what I hope is the first of many!!
- The Winery Dogs – Still keeping my hopes up – No Album, BUT…they are working on a new album for 2022
- Guns ‘N Roses – Rumors, Rumors, Rumors!! – STILL NOTHING…But did get a couple singles!
- Aldo Nova – He keeps talking about a 2CD set, but will he get around to releasing it?? After 2 years still nothing…he keeps saying its coming but I will believe it when I see it!!
- Matt Nathanson – Loved what we got last year, but time for new music!!! I believe he finished recording it, but haven’t heard anything for a long while. – He has recorded it but Covid delayed it. It Will Be 2022!! We did get a live album so that was cool! Now he did surprise us with a U2 covers album called Achtung Matty!
Okay, are there albums I want to see this year from some of my favorite bands that haven’t been announced or in some cases even rumored? Of course there are. These are the bands I want new albums from this year…but it might not happen.
- Def Leppard – They’ve been writing…will we get the new album in 2022?? Or at least The Collection Vol. 4 which is the final in the series
- Kiss – I will keep this on the list until I die!! At least give us another Soundboard LP.
- Guns ‘N Roses – Rumors, Rumors, Rumors!! They teased us with a couple singles, is an album in the works?
- Aldo Nova – He keeps talking about a 2CD set for over 2 years and still nothing much, but will he get around to releasing it in 2022??
- Poison – I think it is finally time for a new Poison album!!
- Will Hoge – His last one was 2020 so now is the time for another!
- Billy Idol – He teased us with an E.P. in 2021. A full album would be nice
From what I have gathered around the internet, here are the bands that should have new albums out in 2021, but no dates announced yet. The ones I would give a try will be highlighted in Blue. The ones with Dates Announced are at the bottom of this post. The list is building up nicely!!

They’re hit or miss with me. I love the cover album they did a couple of years ago. Four albums seems a bit extreme.

I have to check to make sure I have Marillion on pre-order. I know I placed a Marillion order before Xmas but I think their website was glitchy on that pre-order.
Lots to look forward to and yes I do think we will get another Kiss live album this year. See you tonight.

Eddie Vedder, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Slipknot and Zach De La Rocha would be musts. JAck White, Del Amitri too. Tons I’m curious about too. But hey aren’t you giving away a ton of future Friday New Releases posts here? 😉
Oh, and don’t forget Guided By Voices will probably drop about 6 albums this year.

I can’t believe I didn’t put Guided by Voices as that is an obvious one.
And ha! No, not worried about giving away as all those posts are so popular regardless. The more times I repeat it, the better it seems.

Wow 2022 is promising. I have the Slash album on preorder for cheap as I liked the two songs they had put out.
I’m also looking forward to the Georgia Satallites live one coming out in March as u mentioned.
Thanks for doing what ya do Snowman!

Nice list! Well done on the research.
A few stand out for me. Stereophonics, Bloc Party, the Cure, White Lies. I can’t get enough of either band. As for Our Lady Peace, I hope the sequel is on par with the original. They did a good job with the concept album.
I sure hope you’re right about a new Coheed and Cambria release. Their last release, aside from a few singles, was 2018. Get with it guys!

I hope I’m write about C&C as well. I hope I am right about a lot of these!! It could be some good stuff in 2022.

I’m interested by Hcss’ abrakadabra (their last albums was perfect, I hope this one will be at least as good), Kissin’dynamite because their my favorite group after KISS (the third is Hanoi Rocks or Aerosmith or guns N’ roses or twisted sister, but more hanoirocks than the others), scorpions , Gn’R (I should stop to beleive), Slash featuering Myles kennedy and the conspirators and Halestorm. I’d like if winger, Poison and Extreme would release something new

I have a feeling the Bon Jovi box set will be released in 2023, since that’s the band’s 40th anniversary, but I could be wrong. I’m guessing the box set will include stuff with and without Richie, so I’m hesitant about that. The Saxon album is tempting though, since their previous album ‘Thunderbolt’ was pretty good. As for new releases, I’m hoping for a new studio album from Def Leppard and one from Richie Sambora as well. I’ve been talking with Pete from destroyerofharmony and he said that Bob Rock (who Richie worked with for his new album) said that the album is finished; it’s just up to Richie on when he wants to release it.

That is probably right on Bon Jovi, but I would like it sooner than later (depending on what it is exactly). I would like to see a new Richie album!!

Yeah, like you said, depending on what’s in the box set, I’d like for it to be released this year as well (since it’s now 2022, omg). I know right?!?! Pete said that Richie is waiting for covid to end to release the album and I’m like, “dude, it ain’t ending anytime soon. Just release the dang album already!”
