September? Is it September already? No way! Impossible…yet here we are. It is Labor Day Weekend here in the States and that means not a ton of releases as most bands don’t want to compete with peoples travel money. However, we still have around 20 for you today down from the 40 to 50 we normally see. I actually have two I want to here and they are marked in Blue! Let me know what you want to hear and what we may have missed. I hope everyone has a great weekend as I know I will enjoy my 3 day weekend!!
Megadeth – The Sick, The Dying…and the Dead – (Universal Music): I can’t believe it has been 6 years since their last effort with the phenomenal, ‘Dystopia’. I really loved that album. A lot has happened with Covid and Ellefson’s firing, Dave’s health issues…a lot. Glad to have Dave back and can’t wait to hear what’s in store this time around.
King’s X – Three Sides of One – (InsisdeOutMusic): King’s X is a band I never really got in to, but that doesn’t mean anything. These guys are a band’s band…musicians love these guys and they should…super talented. I will give it a listen to see if it finally clicks for me as I have mad respect for them.
And then all the rest…
Miss May I – Curse of Existence – (Sharptone)
The Hu – Rumble of Thunder – (Better Noise Music)
Blind Guardian – The God Machine – (Nuclear Blast)
Epica – Live at Paradiso – (Nuclear Blast)
Yungblud – Yungblud – (Locomotion Recordings / Geffen Records)
Kris Kristofferson – Live at Gilley’s – Pasedena, TX: September 15, 1981 – (New West Records)
Pabst – Crushed By the Weight of the World – (Ketchup Tracks)
Novelists FR – Deja Vu: Premiere Partie – (Out of Line Music)
Defacing God – The Resurrection of Lilith – (Napalm Records)
Trial (swe) – Feed the Fire – (Metal Blade Records)
156/Silence – Narrative – (Sharptone)
Mad Max – Wings of Time – (Rock of Angels Records)
Two Door Cinema Club – Keep on Smiling – (Glassnote Entertainment Group)
The Front Bottoms – Theresa E.P. – (Elektra Entertainment)
Mo Troper – MTV – (Lame-O Records)
Tom Chaplin – Midpoint – (BMG Rights Mgmt)
Unloved – The Pink Album – (Heavenly Recordings / [PIAS])
Jon Pardi – Mr. Saturday Night – (Capitol Records / UMG)
Wheeland Brothers – Pacific Vibrations – (Wheeland Brothers)
Forgotten One – Forgotten No More – (Bentley Records)
Man that King’s X song is fucking shit. Especially the mix.

Agreed on the mix, but the song is a grower.

I know they are great, but it doesn’t do anything for me.

Nothing for me today (this is, like, a month of nothing now!), but I’m happy to see the Hu with a new one. You know, something in my head (which you know means weird) thought it would’ve been more powerful if they’d shown up with that amazing first record and covers and then just disappeared, gone off to do other things. I don’t know why I thought that, because the new song is also awesome and I’m happy for them so welcome to my brain lol.

Your wallet thanks you. Now on The Hu, how awesome would it be if you knew the album was so good that you couldn’t do better so you could do just that.

My wallet will not get abused today.
It’s a good thing, as I still have tons of August purchases to go through.
Thanks for the list!

Megadeth and Blind Guardian for me, and a handful of others to check out. Funny how this week’s been on my music calendar for months now and it didn’t dawn on me it was a holiday weekend.

I’m liking the Megadeth one. I’ve never listened to Blind Guardian so maybe I’ll give that one a try.
And can’t forget about the Holiday Weekend…3 day weekend for me!!

It’s been an amazingly dry spell here for the last few weeks. Couple of New Zealand albums coming up in the next few weeks though.

Another busy one. Always loved Megadeth even though they’ve not been…great as of late so fingers crossed on this one.
Spotify has been trying to get me to listen to 156/Silence for months so I guess I’ll take the bullet.
Wife loves The Front Bottoms so I gave that a listen. One track is decent the rest was meh.
A band called Fawn Limbs dropped a new…guess it would be an EP. It’s 5 minutes long and it’s great.
The Homeless Gospel Choir dropped a surprise one Friday as well and it’s quite possibly my AOTY.
