Happy Halloween!! October was not a good month for me. It was mostly Tricks and few Treats! The tricks were that I was recovering from an appendectomy and after two weeks of that, I caught a virus and then a bacterial infection and was sick for 2 more weeks. My motivation is now at all time low and I have no desire to write or even buy as my energy level is completely wiped. I haven’t written much at all this past month and don’t know when I will get back in to a full time mode, if I ever do. It was hard enough to even put this simple post together, but I am trying.
This month might be my smallest number of purchases in quite some time, but doesn’t mean it doesn’t have what I think are some really sweet Treats! I did get to one record store during the month on the sole day in between recovery and illness where I felt good. It didn’t last that long because by the afternoon, it all went down hill. Noble Records was having their 3rd Anniversary Drop and what a drop it was. I picked up a Kiss Bootleg. More to come on this one down the road, but this is a 1981 reissue of a 1978 bootleg of Kiss My Axe 1978.
While there I picked two albums I had reviewed in my You Pick It Series that won for albums I had never heard before. I grabbed Frank Zappa’s Hot Rats and George Harrison’s All Things Must Pass which was the owners personal copy. It is so clean and even includes the poster!!
Then I picked up a classic I had been wanting for ages, Thin Lizzy’s Jailbreak. Nothing I need to add to that…
And lastly, I picked up the 12″ Maxi Single for Billy Idol’s White Wedding. I had been wanting it for ages due to the cover. Pretty great!!
And that was it from Noble, but what a haul it was. I also picked up a couple Matt Nathanson CD Promotional Singles that I have been collecting. I think I only have 4 more to get and I will have everything out there that I know exists…
That wasn’t all. I grabbed a Joel Hoekstra’s 13 debut Dying to Live. I bought this because I forgot that Jeff Scott Soto sang on half the songs…duh!! How could I not have remembered that!!
And lastly, the only new release I have bought and it is Richard Marx’s Storyteller. 20 songs and broken up in to four categories, Pop, Rock, Country and Ballads. Some great stuff as the man can write a song!

You do know that Beefheart on on that Zappa record. Should make you feel better. My neighbor came for a visit last night and brought me an old Kinks record ‘Everybody’s in Show-Biz. Nice guy. Some good pick ups 2Loud.
Here’s one out of one of those music coincidences we have. Typing this while listening to a Chris Spedding record and he’s doing a CB cover ‘Click Clack’. No lie. It’s kinda of scary. Perfect for Halloween. Take it easy. You’ll be up to speed in no time.

Beefheart is the worst thing about that record!! LOL!! Happy Halloween. We had a slow night in the neighborhood. Only about 100 kids instead of the normal couple hundred!!

I love the whole vibe of the day. Seems to be untouched by any kind of regulations, lets take the fun out of it etc. People (mainly kids. Arent we all?) just go with the spirit of it. Going out to get a bag of candy. Doesnt get any better than that! Puts a big fricken smile on my face when the little rascals are knocking at my door.
By the way. I handed out White Owl Cigars and chewing tobacco this year.

I still have my original Jailbreak on vinyl, such a cool cover art.
Ouch… I had my appendics removed earlier this year after excruciating pain. 2 months to fully recover and all is well now. Hope you’re on the mend!

Luckily my surgery was a preventative measure and not from pain or any emergency problem. I felt better from the surgery in about a month. All back to normal now. Glad yours worked out as well.

Nice haul, as usual. For the first time in a while, I bought only five discs. Moving houses takes up a lot of idle shopping time, which is probably a good thing. I capped off October by getting the latest from Classless Act. I think they’re opening for Steel Panther on the current tour.

My wife broke her leg recently. The move has been tough, but it’s going well. We’re both suffering from a nasty head cold (thankfully not the dreaded ‘vid). We’ll be fine soon, hopefully soon enough for the Steel Panther show next week.
Seeing your Billy Idol review recently, it made me think I should look at his stuff beyond the compilation I have. I found a remastered S/T and Rebel Yell together for cheap today. Good stuff!

And yes, Idol is great. Especially his more recent stuff. His last studio album Kings & Queens of the Underground is one of my favorites of his. And the 2 EP’s have been really awesome.
