Friday New Releases – March 22, 2024

March keeps flying by and we have another long list of releases for you this week. The last two weeks for me have been huge with a ton of releases I was dying to hear and some I bought. This week, there is only one I want to hear and it is the new album by Gary Clark Jr. He has impressed me a lot and so I want to see what he has in store for us this go around. And who am I kidding, I’ll probably stream Alestorm because who doesn’t need a little Pirate Metal in their life. Let me know what you want to hear this week or what we may have missed. 1. I haven’t kept up with recent country a whole lot, but last week was a bit of a supernova in terms of albums that came out at once. And nothing on the rock or metal ledger struck me as essential, so I’m a redneck ’till Friday.

  1. Is the female singer in Alestorm a new member? I didn’t see her when I saw them at Bloodstock in 2018. Speaking of Bloodstock, I saw Leaves Eyes in 2010 and was very impressed. However, I haven’t bothered with them after Liv Christine left but the new singer has stepped in very well.

    1. I had to listen to the Gossip song just out of morbid curiosity. It’s actually really good if you’re into that kind of music. That big girl can sing.

  2. Thanks again for posting this list and for posting the video clip of Hammer King. This is a band that has flown under my radar. I watched the video you posted and liked it enough to investigate the rest of their discography. I will be getting the new Hammer King album. Ever since discovering GloryHammer and their CD “Space 1992: Rise Of The Chaos Wizards” back in 2015, I’ve been into the power metal scene. Of course, the music is great, but I also dig the costumes, war paint, epic tales of fantasy, glory, battles, science fiction, dinosaurs, and ninjas. Ha! All For Metal, Twilight Force, Victorius, the aforementioned GloryHammer, and now Hammer King are so much fun. Plus, they have, hands down, the best album covers.
