For My Sunday Song #121, we are going to explore the instrumental classic by Ace Frehley called “Fractured Mirror”. For the next 10 posts, I am going to go through 10 of my favorite instrumental songs. I figured I would start with the first instrumental song I ever got into. The song is from Ace Frehley’s 1978 Kiss Solo album and it was the last track on an album that made me wish I could be Ace Frehley and a guitar god.
“Fractured Mirror” was actually the first instrumental that Ace would release would end up being a total of 5 pieces released in total on most of his solo records. You have “Fractured Too”, “Fractured III”, “Fractured Quantum” and finally “Quantum Flux” on his latest release. For me, they are usually the highlight of the albums.
On Ace’s 1978 solo album, Ace showed he could be the frontman, he could survive on his own and do songs just as good or better than Kiss. It was the start of things to come. With “Fractured Mirror”, Ace showed that he was a technical guitarist and that he had the chops to hang with the best.
From the opening bells of the song, the opening guitar riff and throughout the beautiful melodies he created to the ending of that same opening guitar riff, Ace delivered a masterpiece that all his other instrumentals would be compared against. Sadly, all were good, but none were this good.

This week it is time to honor Jimi Hendrix in the Meme collection. There were so many to choose from so I am sure there will be a part 2 down the road. For now, I hope you enjoy these that I found. Let us jump right into it.
Because he is Jimi ‘Fucking” Hendrix…
And just for fun…
I hope you enjoyed. Have a great rest of week!!
John 5 & the Creatures bring us a new album to start the year off and this time we get their first live album. ‘It’s Alive’ was recorded live off the Season of the Witch Tour in 2017 at the Sellersville Theater in Sellersville, Pennsylvania in April 2017. The band consists of John 5 on lead guitar, Ian Ross on bass and Logan Miles Nix on drums. The amount of music that comes out of these there guys for this album is incredible.
In listening to an interview with John 5 on Talking Metal with Emily Strigl, I learned that album was recorded rather spontaneously. They arrived at the theater the day of the show and someone from the theater asked them if they wanted to record the show as they had a recording booth upstairs. The band joyfully said yes. And a little less than a year later, we have a live album released.
John 5 also stated in the interview that there are no overdubs or any re-recordings. What you hear is what you get. And what you hear is a live album that is near perfection which is also a little of the drawback. The album at times doesn’t sound live as the musicianship is absolutely incredible. There are probably errors, but they are not noticeable (at least to my untrained ears).

Back in 2013, Richie Sambora met Orianthi and sparks flew, apparently. The two are an item and now they are putting out music for the masses and it is about time. I had heard back last year, I believe, that they were working together and going to put out an album. Well, we finally got one; however, it is only an E.P. with only 5 songs. Now, I am not greedy, but I would have preferred a whole album.
Now when I heard we were getting music from the two, I was excited. I love Richie’s vocals and his bluesy, rock style plus he can play the guitar (have you heard of Bon Jovi). Orianthi is also one helluva a guitar player herself and she can sing with the best of them. She has played for Michael Jackson and for Alice Cooper as well as her own solo work. The two together, I was expecting a bluesy rock album with some amazing guitar work.
What I was expecting and what we actually have are not quite the same thing. Apparently, the two of them wanted to deliver an album that was not what people expected. They wanted to give something that shows that they can do something more than play guitar. Message received loud and clear.

Welcome back to Tuesday’s Memes. This week we will focus on the Guitar. The instrument that screams Rock & Roll to me. Personally, I tried to play but there were two problems…1) I have no patience and expect to play “Eruption” in 5 minutes after getting my guitar. I got frustrated and quit. 2) And the main reason…I sucked. I had no talent. However, that doesn’t change the fact that I love the guitar. If you want to see my favorite guitars just click on GUITARS.
Here are the memes I found that made me laugh. I hope you enjoy and have a great week.
And that would be me.
