Happy Friday! It is time for more new releases and one I know everyone on earth is waiting to hear…that is right…Nickelback!! Your local police will be thrilled to have new Nickelback music to play and torment their prisoners. There is quite a lot and a little for everyone so take a look and start listening. My choices are highlighted in Blue.
- Nickelback – Feed the Machine – (Nickelback II Productions): Nickelback is back (no pun intended) to bring more enjoyment to our senses (this was supposed to come out as sarcasm, but sometimes it is tough to show that in writing). Will I give it a listen??? Maybe, not sure yet. I figured I would mention it since so many people do buy their albums and go see them in concert.
- Cheap Trick – We’re All Alright! – (Big Machine): The first of two childhood favorite bands with new albums. First up is Cheap Trick. I am glad to see them still cranking out new tunes as this is their 18th studio album and they actually released one last year as well. Will I give this one a listen…hell yeah!.
- Styx – The Mission – (Alpha Dog 2T): The 2nd album comes from Styx. It has been far too long since any new material and I am s excited. This is their first release since Big Bang Theory back in 2005. It is about damn time!!
- Lorde – Melodrama – (Universal Music)
- Big Bad Voodoo Daddy – Louie Louie Louise – (SLG, LLC)
- Matthew Sweet – Tomorrow Forever – (Honeycomb Hideout)
- Eli Young Band – Fingerprints – (Big Machine)
- Iced Earth – Incorruptible – (Century Media)
- CKY – The Phoenix – (Entertainment One)
- Steve Earle & the Dukes – So You Wannabe an Outlaw – (Steve Earle)
- Jason Isbell & the 400 Unit – The Nashville Sound – (Southeastern Records)
- Royal Blood – How Did We Get So Dark? – (Imperial Galatic Limited)
- Fleet Foxes – Crack-Up – (Fleet Foxes)
- Alison Moyet – Other – (Cooking Vinyl)
Some releases this week that I’m interested in. Top one is Steve Earle’s new one. I dare say I’ll pick that up soon.
Also really interested in the Fleet Foxes and Jason Isbell releases. Fleet Foxes last album is pretty brilliant and I like the single (Fool’s Errand).
I’ll check out the new Cheap Trick too.

There is a lot for sure. I don’t really know Fleet Foxes so I will need to add that one to my list of to get to this week.

Fleet Foxes are worth checking out. Wonderful harmonies and the dynamics are really special, too. Despite initial reservations, Helplessness Blues was a favourite of mine.

Lots here that I aim to get. I’ll pretend you didn’t put Nickelback up top. LOL
Styx, Cheap Trick, Steve Earle and Royal Blood at the ones I plan on picking up.

I figured the Nickelback would get some comments! If it makes you feel better, I actually listened to Styx on the way in to work. It was great. Old school Styx!

HELL YEAH. The new single has been on the radio a lot and I am digging it. This will be the first new Styx album I bought since…probably Brave New World…in the 90s.

Hell yeah. Not to mention my beloved Deep Purple too.

Iced Earth is on my list for sure! And I’m pretty excited for more Royal Blood. They’ve been releasing some excellent material over the past months. 😀

You are the 2nd or 3rd to mention Royal Blood so I am listening to it now and dang how have I missed them???

Oh yes, they’re brilliant live too. Mike Kerr rocks the hell out of that bass!

I didn’t know Big Bad Voodoo Daddy were still around. I really like them. I had to pay £20 to get their first album on import, and I don’t pay £20 for anything if I can help it…

I can understand that. I have the same problem with Def Leppard. I will pay whatever for copies I want. As far as Big Bad Voodoo Daddy, I didn’t know they were still kicking either and when I saw they had a new album, I had to add it to my list. They are great.

Man, I can’t WAIT to hear the new music from Cheap Trick and Styx!!!! But I was super annoyed when I read Nickelback frontman come out and diss Corey Taylor claiming “Stone Sour is Nickelback-lite and Slipknot is a gimmick”. Uh huh.

Cheap Trick is awesome. Nickelback is just trying to stay relevant and say the dumbest things.
