Welcome to the last Friday New Releases of the month. There are too many new releases this week and no way to even come close to listening to it all. There a handful I will attempt to get to and those will be highlighted in Blue, but doesn’t mean there aren’t others on this list I don’t want to hear. I have to some way prioritize the listening choices. I am sure there is something on here that you will find exciting. Let me know what you are interested in getting.
Shania Twain – Now – (Universal Nashville): Oh Shania, how we have missed you. Back with her first album in 15 YEARS!!!. I have heard a couple songs off the album and haven’t been overly impressed so I am little worried about this one. My wife and I enjoy Shania and went saw her in concert about 2 years ago and we also had “From This Moment” played at our wedding. As a result, I will give this a listen despite my hesitations.
Black Stone Cherry – Black to Blues EP – (Mascot Label Group): The Southern Hard Rock band is bringing us a little EP to hold us over until their next album…I am so cool with that. They don’t seem to ever disappoint and I could use a good old rock album about now.
Airbourne – Diamond Cuts (4CD set) – (Nettwerk Records): Airbourne is re-releasing their first three album plus a CD of B-Sides which includes 2 previously unreleased tracks. That is the CD I want. This band is heavily influenced by AC/DC and if you like that than this album is for you.
Johannes Linstead – Azul – (Johannes Linstead): I love flamenco guitar and Spanish guitar. Not many do it better than Johannes Linstead. He is also blends so many other cultural sounds that are so amazing. This is one of those albums I will grab because I know it is him and don’t have to know any song from it to know I will enjoy it. Can’t wait to add this one to my library. There are no videos so here is an older song so you can get an idea.
Ronnie Montrose & Ricky Phillips & Eric Singer – 10X10 – (Rhino Records)
Hedley – Cageless – (Univerisal Music Canada)
Demi Lovato – Tell Me You Love Me – (Island Records)
Miley Cyrus – Younger Now – (RCA)
UFO – The Salentino Cuts – (Cleopatra Records)

Pearl Jam – Let’s Play Two – (Monkeywrench, Inc)
Michael Jackson – Scream – (MJJ Productions)

The Shania Twain song is just too damn catchy!

I am a huge fan of Shania, but that first single is awful IMO. It seems kinds corny and a step backwards. I am hoping the rest is better.

Though I don’t listen to it very often, I’ve always enjoyed a little flamenco. Interesting that some of the best are not Spanish – Ottmar Liebert is German and Johannes Linstead is Canadian.

For me, I love going to sleep listening to it. There is just something relaxing about it even thought it is so upbeat at times.

Herb Alpert for me all the way.

Definitely the Stones for me – a 2015 live set? Sure thing!
I saw the PJ set in the shoppes and was shocked it was $30. For a 2CD of live tracks we already own a zillion times? There are three tracks that make it interesting, but not $30 interesting…
New live Gilmour is also interesting…

I didn’t even know Pearl Jam had a new live album until just now! They should be giving them away free at this stage!

That is funny. I haven’t streamed it yet, but I do plan on giving it a listen one day when I can squeeze it in. I am devouring the STP reissue of Core 25th Anniversary edition for the next few days.

How’s the bonus stuff with that?

Don’t know. Just got back from Atlanta and I am just listening to the main album on Vinyl right now. That will come soon. I will definitely be writing this one up soon.

I’m interested in the releases from The Stones, Primus, and Lucinda Williams. I also have to admit to being intrigued by the Miles Cyrus release…

We listened to the Miley one when my family drove to Atlanta this weekend. It was pretty good…very mellow compared to the prior releases.

I’m not familiar with much of her stuff. Other than the Dead Petz release, this is the only one that’s really interested me.

I wouldn’t have listened to it if it wasn’t for my kids.

Why is Johannes Linstead familiar to Me? I wonder if he is Canadian. Was he in Gypsy Jayne?

Yes, he is Canadian. But I don’t think he was in Gypsy Jayne that I can see

Listening to it now. Well the B-sides disc anyway. It sounds like Airbourne. Not bad for B-sides at all.
