Welcome to the last Friday of May!! Let the Summer heat and fun begin!! School is almost out for the kids, but busy times ahead for me. Let’s end the month with some new releases. I have a few I am interested in hearing and they are highlighted in Blue. There is a handful of releases this week so let me know what you are interested in or if I missed something that needs a shout out! I hope there is something for you. Enjoy and have a great weekend!!
Kenny Wayne Shepherd – The Traveler – (Concord Music Group): First up for me is KWS and that awesome blues guitar. Kenny has been around awhile now and his last release was stellar so expect more of the same with this. It is funny how his Blues actually makes me feel good. Is that the way it is supposed to work?
Duff McKagan – Tenderness – (Universal Music): The Guns ‘n Roses bass player is back with a new solo album which is the first one in 20 years (not counting the 8 years since his band Loaded’s last album). I don’t have high expectations or any for that matter, but I am curious as to what he has to offer and he has earned the respect for a listen. I want some new GNR music though!!!
Texas Hippie Coalition – High in the Saddle – (Entertainment One): Sometimes you need your rock loud, raw and just plain dirty. Something with a little grit and untamed and these guys fit that bill nicely. It is heavy and full of raucous fun and sometimes perfect for the club. Also not bad for that drive home from work when you need to work out a little of that frustration!
Seventh Day Slumber – Closer to Chaos – (Rockfest Records): Another Texas band, but this one is more of the Christian rock band. The story behind the lead singer is interesting. After a suicide attempt, he became a Christain while on the way to the hospital and he hasn’t looked back since. I am sure he has had his struggle since, but he found his place in Christian rock music and thankfully we reap the benefits of it. Worth a listen!!
The Afters – Fear No More – (Fair Trade Services): Another Christian band, but on a much lighter note…definitely more pop than rock and just as good. This brand of music makes you feel good inside and out. It is uplifting and at times even inspiring which always earns them a spot on my busy listening schedule.
Rory Gallagher – Blues – (UMC)
Phil Collins – Other Sides – (Rhino Entertainment)
Phil Collins – Other Sides Remixed – (Rhino Entertainment)
Thomas Rhett – Center Point Road – (Big Machine Label)
Death Angel – Humanicide – (Nuclear Blast)
Kirk Franklin – Long Live Love – (Fo Yo Soul / RCA)
Susan Boyle – TEN – (Simco LTD/Sony)
Been waiting months for this Texas Hippie Coalition to drop!

Listening to Tender on the commute. He’s embraced country on this one and Shooter Jennings is along for the ride. It’s really pretty good. I was considering picking it up, cause the deluxe LP looks like a nicely put together package.

Nothing really here this week as far as I’m concerned John.
I bought one album off of itunes yesterday that I have been waiting for years for them to get. I’m going to work on a review of it this weekend I hope and all will be revealed next week! haha
How’s that for self promotion and hype ?
Have a good day dude..it’s Friday

That must have been horrible not having it open. I think I would curl up in to a ball in the corner if my local store was closed!!

Still waiting on the new Death Angel to hit the mailbox, but my biggest new release pickup this week was Gloryhammer’s Legend: From Beyond the Galactic Terrorvortex. Pure power metal ridiculousness and it kills!!
