Things might finally start heating up. No, not the weather it has been pretty damn hot for awhile. I am talking about new releases. What has felt as a pretty lackluster year so far in new releases, maybe it is time for some good ones to start coming out. I have 2 this week, one of which is on pre-order and the vinyl should be there when I get home. My choices this week are marked in Blue. Let me know what you want to hear or if I missed anything. Have a great weekend!!!
Scott Stapp – The Space Between the Shadows – (Napalm Records): The former lead singer of Creed and the very short stint with Art of Anarchy, Scott comes back with his third solo album. It has been 6 years since the sensational ‘Proof of Life’, so high expectations for me as that is a favorite. I have the vinyl on order and can’t wait to drop the needle. The opening single, “Purpose of Pain” is great so this should be another homerun.
Through Fire – All Animal – (Sumerian Records): Justin McCain, lead singer of Emphatic, is on his second band and second album with Through Fire’s new album ‘All Animal’. The first was a heavy dose of rock that is right up my alley. Looking for more of the same and will be cranking this one up pretty damn loud!!
And a couple more…
C.F. Kip Winger – Get Jack Soundtrack – (C.F. Kip Winger): Kip Winger is a man of many talents from his band Winger, to his solo work to his foray in to Classical music and now a musical thriller with Get Jack. I have no idea what to expect, but it is Kip so it will get a listen…at least it was written by Kip.
Live – Throwing Copper (25th Anniversary) – (Radioactive Records): Live is celebrating 25 years of Throwing Copper. That is as good a reason as any to revisit this amazing record.
And all the rest…
Sum 41 – Order in Decline – (Hopeless Records)
Crown the Empire – Sudden Sky – (Rise Records)
Sabrina Carpenter – Singular Act II – (Hollywood Records)
Eddie Money – Brand New Day – (Money Music, Inc)
James Taylor – The Warner Bros. Albums: 1970-1976 – (Rhino/Warners Bros)
Mike Love – 12 Sides of Summer – (BMG)
Iggy Azalea – In My Defense – (Bad Dream Records)
Shakespear’s Sister – The Singles Party (1988-2019) – (London Music Stream)
I’m glad you’re finding some new tunes this week John. I look forward to seeing what you have to say about the Stapp and Kip records.

I am excited. Finally a few that I am actually excited about. The Stapp one should be at the house when I get home and the Live one i will have to pick up later. That Kip one will be interesting as I am not sure what to expect with that one. He has done the Winger stuff and Classical and now a musical, he is a man of many talents.

That he is in regards to KIP! You have to hand it to him as he totally reinvented himself as an artist doing classical and also still doing Seventeen!
Wicked Talent actually!

Yes he is. I started to listen to Get Jack and it is definitely a musical. I don’t know who is singing, but it is a musical. I am going to have to be in the mood for that one.

Agreed. I will get that one soon, but already bought the Stapp one before I saw this was coming out.

I’d completely missed the Throwing Copper reissue. Bonus tracks?

Yes, the vinyl has 3 bonus tracks. The CD has the same three plus a 2nd CD of the ’94 Woodstock performance

Oh! That sounds like something I need to check out then… I used to have a boot of the Woodstock performance long ago (or a boot that claimed to be the Woodstock performance!)
