Happy Friday. We made it through another week and in today’s world, that is saying something. As your reward, we have a batch of new releases for you. And let me tell you, I need this pick me up. There are a few I am interested in hearing and they are highlighted in Blue as normal. Let me know what you see that you want to hear or maybe I missed something so let me know. I hope there is something for you. Have a great weekend!!!
Joe Satriani – Shapeshifting – (Sony Music); I love Satriani. The first guitarist I dug that released his own solo albums. Well, maybe it was Vai and Satriani. Joe has been pumping out music almost annually and I couldn’t be happier. I can’t wait to see what he has in store for us this time around.
The Strokes – The New Abnormal – (RCA): The Strokes are back. How long has it been? It has been 7 years since their last release. I am not a huge fan, but I am interested to see what they bring to the table in 2020. I like garage rock and they were kings for a short time, will they regain the reign…we will see.
And the rest…
Local H – Lifers – (AntiFragile Music)
Metal Church – From the Vault – (Rat Pak Records)
Nightwish – Human. :II: Nature. – (Nuclear Blast)
Maddie & Tae – The Way It Feels – (Mercury Nashville)
John Anderson – Years – (BMG Rights)
Jazz Sabbath – Jazz Sabbath – (Jazz Sabbath)
Brian Culbertson – XX – (BCM Entertainment)
At least there is some nw music still trickling out. You think with what’s going on more bands would release stuff as what’s there to do after a while.
Thanks for posting New Release Fridays John,

You are welcome. Next week’s list has already been re-worked as several big artist moved their release. Now, there isn’t much next week, but still a post.

I like that Satriani track you posted. It reminds me of old Satriani, when they really sounded like fully-formed songs. Now I am definitely curious about that. A local record store called Encore does ship, and I was thinking I would place an order if I could find a few albums to buy….

I haven’t completely enjoyed some his more recent stuff, but they always get a listen and I do like that track too. I will wait and see if I order.

Done like dinner — just ordered this and a Deke album that I never owned before, and a few more treats from back catalogues. Thanks for the suggestion man. I might not have placed an order this morning if not for Friday New Releases on 2l2o!

Great! My goal was reached then as that is the main purpose of the post. What album has Deke put out, because I know I don’t have it 🙂
There are a couple early 90’s Scorpion albums re-released on vinyl on Amazon that are hovering around $20 that I might order.

OK I’ll tell you what I ordered 🙂
New Satch
Vandenburg – Vandenburg
King Kobra – Thrill of a Lifetime
Love/Hate – Blackout in the Red Room with bonus tracks
The nice thing is none of these are re-buys for me, this is my first time for getting all of them. A nice change of pace for me.

Very nice. Well, I went to Amazon and one of Scorpions Face the Heat 2LP dropped to $17.99 so I ordered (should get in a week). Crazy Nights was $19.99, so I ordered that one (which won’t make it until May 2 sadly. I don’t have either on vinyl, but I have owned them before.

I like Face the Heat better than Crazy Nights, it had some underrated music on there. Either way — can’t go wrong. You’ll still get your Kicks After Six.

Jazz Sabbath? Do they do Black Sabbath covers, but Jazz? Or just a coincidence?
Either way, I like that they did the Black Sabbath song – by Black Sabbath – from the album Black Sabbath with their group – album – label format!
Jazz Sabbath – Jazz Sabbath – (Jazz Sabbath)

It is Sabbath covers in a jazz format with a piano (at leas the song I heard)

Awesome. That makes me feel good. I will do it every week as long as their are more than 3 releases I know about. anything less than that, not worth the time.
