Happy Friday!! We have a lot of releases this week for you and a bunch I want this week which hasn’t been the case lately. All my choices are highlighted in Blue. Let me know what you are interested in hearing this weekend and let me know what I may have missed. Thanks for stopping by and I hope you have a great weekend.
Kiss – Off The Soundboard: Live In Virginia Beach 2004 – (Universal Music / Simstan Music): Kiss is now on their second in the Off the Soundboard Series and rumor has it we might be getting 2 more this year and I am excited about that. I hope they start going back further like with the Ace & Peter years or even Eric & Bruce would be great. But I will take this for now.
Ghost – Impera – (Loma Vista Recordings / Concord): It is hard to believe that it has been 4 years since Ghost last album, I hadn’t heard of them prior to that one, but I loved ‘Prequelle’ so I am excited to see what Tobias Forge has in store for us this time around.
Bryan Adams – So Happy It Hurts – (Badams Music / BMG): I know Bryan’s albums lately haven’t been as good as when he was in his prime, but there are always a handful of tracks I really like. I saw him live when he toured for the last one and he is still awesome live!!
New Horizon – Gate of the Gods – (Frontiers Records): Former H.E.A.T. lead singer Erik Gronwell starts a new metal band with multi-instrumentalists Jona Tee. I loved him with H.E.A.T. so I am really excited about this one.
Franz Ferdinand – Hits to the Head – (Domino Recording): Franz Ferdinand get their first greatest hits package with all their singles in one place and I am good with that. They are one of those bands I think I would happy with just a greatest hits! And here we get one.
The Georgia Satellites – Lightnin’ in a Bottle: The Official Live Album – (Cleveland International Records): I liked them back in the day so I am excited to hear this live one. A fun rock band that I believe was rather underrated.
And then we have all the rest…enjoy!!

An Off the Soundboard release is always interesting, but I don’t care for the 2004 tour. I fear most of this series will be sourced from the later days, which is a shame, even though that might be most of what’s available in the vaults.

yeah, just interesting…

I am afraid you might be right, but I am still hoping for a Revenge era, a Creatures era and an Unmasked era. I can always dream at least.

Ghost was a band that I had zip interest in until I saw em open for Maiden. Then that changed as Tobias is a great singer/songwriter.
KISS I like that setlist and it should be live right?? Georgia Satellite’s also as they guys bring it live so this is a long overdue release. Vinyl is not coming out to July so I will be a non stop streamer on it til then..
Adams I will give it a shot and go from there just because of Keith Scott.
Thanks for this Sir!

It will be live and probably somewhat untouched. I just hope the go deeper in the years with this series.

I listened to the album on Apple as mine has not been shipped yet lol but I really like as Gene and Pauls vocals are blown out so its live and for KISS that is a great thing!

I’m not use to Gene’s vocals being blown out, but yeah, they sound horrible. All the backing vocals suck and the guitar sound and playing is also awful. This is a strange pick for the next one as it isn’t that good.

I actually like this album as they are a mess but its kinda cool as its live lol

I’m not saying I don’t like it, but a couple songs were so bad that it was cringeworthy (Tears are Falling and Unholy). I was so excited to have Unholy on a setlist, but ugh…Gene sounds bad and I’m always one to think Gene never sounds bad.

I hear ya what u are saying but goes to show you that when you get on a run of shows the voice will go at times..
I’m like you they need to step up with a retro 70s and 80s shows now…
They have to make up for that awful live sounding show in the Destroyer reissue…talk about cringeworthy sonics …lol

Ohh Yeah, that show is bad. I want a Dynasty Era show, an Unmasked, a Creatures and a Revenge era show. And I forgot, a Hot in the Shade era as that was when they started playing more older stuff again.

I’m with you on all of those esp. a Dynasty one as that was my very first show..
Gene if u are reading this release the Duluth Oct 6/79 show ASAP!

The New Horizon one could be good.

I love KISS but I don’t like the sound of these recordings, I’d like live albums of the 80s or 90s, during the tours to promote a new release with more songs of the new record.

I’m an little nuts for Kiss so it is buy no matter what. I’ll listen, write a review down the road and we will see.

Ghost and KISS. I forgot to pre-order Ghost because I need to check out the bonus track situation. Some reports are really praising the new album.

I will stream it for now. It is getting a lot of buzz which is nice to see.

Bring on Ghost! There must be something in the meatballs in Sweden, because they’re pumping out great bands.
Other than Ghost, the one with the HEAT singer sounds interesting. Into the great unknown is a pretty good HEAT album.
Happy Friday everyone.

Scandinavia in general has some great ones, but Sweden leads the pack.
