June 2023 Purchases – Vinyl, CDs & More…

Welcome to another monthly round-up of what we obtained here at 2 Loud 2 Old Music. It was another big month, but not quite like last month. The month started off with another Buy 5 Get 5 deal and ended with a trip to Los Angeles so it was a fun month here at the site.

First up was the 2nd & Charles Buy 5 Get 5 Free on Used CDs, so of course, I took advantage of that deal. Not a bad haul I must say…

And of course, we did get some new releases this month including Extreme, Neal Schon and my personal favorite, The Defiants!! I went the cheaper route of CDs for these mainly because Neal’s isn’t on vinyl and The Defiants isn’t available until September (pre-ordered).

Then I went on a little run of Def Leppard stuff. They had a new book and I found the cassette for the new album, ‘Drastic Symphonies’ as well as a ton of bootlegs thanks to ad money.

And I almost forgot, I broke down and bought the Taylor Swift / Def Leppard Crossroads episode. I figured I needed it for the Lep Series…

This was also a good month for finding two rare pieces. First was the U.S. Promo Single for Matt Nathanson’s cover song “Laid” which was featured in American Wedding. Now I have both the UK and US promos…

And then I found the ver difficult live album from Will Hoge. This had never before been sold on Discogs and I had never seen it on eBay…well Discogs got one and I immediately snatched it up before it disappeared. This CD was only given out (or sold) during his 2016 tour…no where else…and it was still sealed!!

But it didn’t stop there. With a little ad money, I snatched the final Generation X album I had been missing on vinyl, ‘Sweet Revenge’. It was an unreleased album from the late 70’s/early 80’s that never saw the day until the 90’s. I now have a vinyl of that album…

If that wasn’t enough, I want to prove how patience can sometimes payoff. The Kiss compilation, ‘You Wanted The Best, You Got the Best’ is a pricey album to buy on vinyl. It normally goes for around $150 plus with shipping. I had this on a wantlist and I saw one pop up on Amazon for $39.99. I was very hesitant to jump on this at that price thinking what is wrong with it…well…I bought it and nothing is wrong with it. I think I got a dang good deal!! Still has the hype sticker and the shrink wrap!!

Then we took a trip to L.A. to see family and see the sights. One place I wanted to go was Amoeba Records which is supposed to be this awesome massive store in Hollywood. Well, it is massive, but for my taste it wasn’t very awesome. I was hoping for imports, some really rare vinyl, bootlegs or just more unique stuff…unless I missed it, there wasn’t much there for my tastes…

But, I can I say I was there and I did buy a couple things…

Oh, and Billy Idol’s star was near by…

And lastly was a place called The Last Bookstore which is a really cool shop in downtown L.A. and I found a couple books plus picked up a vinyl. The Stephen Pearcy book was actually autographed by Stephen which was a cool bonus…

And that is basically it. Here is it all spread out together…

Thanks for hanging around and we will see you next month for the July wrap-up.

  1. Dang, you got some awesome stuff this past month! I have yet to get the Def Leppard book, but I’m waiting for the right time to do so since I’ve been spending money like crazy these past few months. Those Def Leppard bootlegs are freaking cool, I’m jealous! And one of them is from the ‘Pyromania’ era too, dang it. If you do a review on the Def Leppard book, I can’t wait to read it!

  2. You’re the King man…no one comes close to your collection! Now you need to retire so you can find the time to check out all this stuff or keep working to pay for this stuff!

  3. Nice month! Two questions for you. 🙂 The Winger. Is that an OG press? When you buy records when traveling, how do you get it back home?

    1. Thanks. No. Winger is a reissue. I’ve never seen a man original pressing. As far as getting them back when traveling they are a personal item when I fly and I carry them in a bag. It’s a pain but worth it.

  4. Those are some nice finds, in particular the Def Leppard albums. I need to make the time to visit some of our downtown stores.

I went off on Rock Candy, getting two Europe and two Kix reissues. I also picked up the first three Winger albums in a two disc set.

  5. So this wasn’t your experience?

Sebastian Bach – What’s In My Bag?

Did they have Def Leppard, BJ, Will Hoge, NeedtoBreathe sections? Were there any Soto albums?

    1. Nope. Nothing I didn’t already have. Lots of new stuff, but nothing out of the ordinary or my liking. They had all those sections, but again, I have it all. Disappointed no European import or Japanese import section…although they did have a japanese vinyl section, but small.
