August 2023 Purchases – Vinyl, CD’s & More

Another month comes to a close so it is time for another monthly wrap up of what landed in 2 Loud 2 Old Music’s collection this month and it was another decent month, if I do say so myself. It started off with a couple of new releases. First being the vinyl for the 2nd Mammoth WVH album and I like it as much as the first one…

And the second that item that came out the same time was the new album for Rick Springfield. 20 songs on one disc and it is classic Springfield and I have enjoyed it a lot as I do most of his albums.

There was also a record show this month, but I didn’t really get a lot from it. I bought only one vinyl and it is for Danger Danger’s debut album which I’d always wanted on vinyl…

There was only one 7″ Single and this one was from Motley Crue for the song “Wild Side”. I like 80’s picture sleeves so had to have it…

And lastly from the record show were a bunch of cassettes. I got 2 more Kiss cassettes which I think that gives me like 17 so far and then I found 4 Def Leppard and one that is so rare, it is even listed in Discogs (this cover is not). Then there was a Night Ranger Greatest Hits and a Cheap Trick compilation that was only available on Cassette.

And while we are mentioning Kiss, I did pick up Julian Gill’s latest Kiss book about the Unmasked time frame. Can’t wait to dive in to this one…

There were a few other CD’s I bought this month as well. First is a Night Ranger CD that was one I had at one time and needed it again. This is a Night Ranger from the 90’s that only had two original members. It was a weird time for the band. But, still a good album…

Then there was a rare, hard to find CD for Limp Bizkit’s latest album…’Still Sucks’. They originally were doing no physical releases, but for some reason they changed their mind and I got a hold of one. It’s a fun album…at least I think so.

Then there was a really cool 50th Anniversary Greatest Hits Edition for Aerosmith. 50 Years…Damn!! This Edition is the Japanese Edition with 6 CDs, 3 of which exclusive to this set and those 3 are live albums…yeah!!

And there was one really, really cool album I get this month thanks to Tim’s Vinyl Confession. Tim pointed me in the direction of an 8-Track for an artist I’m a big fan of…Aldo Nova and it is a thing of beauty!!

Then this past weekend I hit up Noble Records to pick up more than I expected. First is a Triumph compilation on vinyl called Rock ‘N’ Roll Machine and I love me some Triumph!!

But the main reason I was there was to pick up Noble’s newest Exclusive vinyl for Thunder And Rose. While there I asked about the three I was missing from the store’s exclusive and he stated they were running low and about out so might want to get those sooner than later. I know, a great sales technique, but they are pretty honest and so I truly believe them so I bought the 3 so now I believe I have all the exclusives now…

And that is everything. Another solid month. September has a lot of pre-orders in for new albums so already so good stuff that I know will be in that one. Can’t wait to get all of those. For now, enjoy all of these…

And thanks for stopping by!!

  1. Nice finds!

So u got that bigger set of Aerosmith. Been eyeing it myself but so far no go. Looking forward to your review!

Would love to find that Night Ranger Mojo one.

U got me listening to Limp. Read your ranking piece too. I was a huge Nu-metal fan, still am. Never got into Bizkit though. Listening to Gold Cobra at the moment.

  2. I will wait for the live Aero to be released separately just like when they pulled that RSD move and released it domestically a few months later. I don’t trust those guys.lol Mammoth I will get at some point on vinyl but for some reason I haven’t and its good.
That Gill book is fantastic as I have been going through it. Dude does his homework. Triumph to boot! Great stuff Johnny

  3. Those are some great finds.

Lately, I’ve been on an original album kick. In August, I bought a Faster Pussycat box set. I followed that up with a Ratt box set.

When Aerosmith remasters some CDs, I’ll probably get those (Permanent Vacation, Pump, Get a Grip).

  4. That is some nice stuff. I didn’t even know Limp Bizkit did physical versions of that album, I was honestly very impressed with that one. And I’m not familiar at all with any Night Ranger stuff from the 90’s, never heard a note of it. That’s some trippy cover art for them.

    1. Thanks. The Limp album I think is legit. It was a link on their website. Very cheap release in a cardboard sleeve and it looks like a CDr with limited writing on it. very basic. There is a gold limited edition CD that is sold out. It was less than $20 with shipping.
