With Maroon 5 heading out for their next big tour this Summer, I thought I might go through and rank their albums from Worst to First. With a span of 6 albums over 16 years, they have put out some great albums and a couple not so great ones. I am going to keep this strictly to Maroon 5’s studio albums and not include any from them when they were known as Kara’s Flowers or any live or re-mix albums. This will keep it simpler and keep me sane from digging into everything else that is out there.
Now, take a seat and lean back and read on and find out how I rank the Maroon 5 albums from Worst to First. And of course, we will start with the Worst…
6 – THE WORST – ‘Overexposed’ (2012):
‘Overexposed’ was the band’s fourth album and the title pretty much sums up Adam Levine during this time. He was everywhere. With the success of his judging stint on ‘The Voice’, Adam became so overexposed and I tired of him quickly. The album was their most Pop album at the time (yes, even more so than the previous two). They brought in so many outside people including Max Martin and even Ryan Tedder of OneRepublic and it seemed like a giant effort to match the sound of time rather than be who they really are.

My Sunday Song #88 is going to get downright sexy. The song of choice this week is “Lips on You” by Maroon 5. The song is off their most recent album ‘Red Pill Blues’ which was released back on November 3, 2017.
The song was co-written by Adam Levine with a slew of people including Kasher Hindlin, Jason Evigan and two people that are all over the charts right now, Julia Michaels and Charlie Puth. With that many people involved, I would hope a good song would come out of that collaboration and let me tell you…it sure as hell did!!
This is probably my favorite song on the album. The deep bass, the slower groove and the lyrics are all so damn hot. When you throw in Adam’s voice, you have pure magic. This is one song that should be played when you want to get busy and it will make your partner swoon and turn them in to jelly. The lyrics will guid you through what you should do. If this doesn’t do it, let me know and we will file a complaint with Maroon 5 and Charlie Puth.

Maroon 5 started off their career as a Pop/Rock/Funk band back in the very early 2000s and brought us the masterpiece debut album ‘Songs About Jane’. 15 year later the band is still going strong with the newest album called ‘Red Pill Blues’. The resemblance between these two albums is relatively zero. The Rock/Funk part of the band is non-existent and all you have is glorified POP!
Don’t get me wrong, there is some pop music I like. However, there is something about pop music that irritates me and that is most songs on pop radio seem to think the actually have to be “featuring” a hip-hop artist or at least another artist. Singers and bands today don’t seem to be able to do a song that is strictly their own.
Maroon 5 now believes in that theory whole-heartedly. As a result, they have six songs, that is right 6!!!, on their new album that feature another artist. They are as follows:
- “What Lovers Do (Feat. SZA)
- “Help Me Out (duet with Julia Michaels)”
- “Who I Am (Feat. Lunchmoney Lewis)”
- “Whiskey (Feat. A$AP Rocky)”
- ‘Don’t Wanna Know (Feat. Kendrick Lamar – yeah for like 10 seconds)”
- “Cold (Feat. Future)”
