Welcome to the day after Valentine’s Day. I hope everyone was with the one you love or at least loving the one you were with. And if you didn’t have anyone, that is okay too. Maybe there is something on here you could love. There is a little for everyone. My choices are highlighted in Blue. Let me know what you are interested in and what I might have missed. Have a great weekend.
Avril Lavigne – Head Above Water – (BMG): Avril Lavigne, what can I say. I actually dig her stuff. I am not afraid to admit it. Even if she married the guy from Nickelback. I won’t hold that against her. I haven’t heard anything off this one yet, but that won’t deter me from giving it a listen as she has earned that respect. Oh yeah, the cover of the album is quite nice!
Jon Fratelli – Bright Night Flowers – (Cooking Vinyl Ltd): I love the Fratelli’s so can’t wait to hear Jon do another solo album. His last one I enjoyed so why would this one be any different. Give him a try, you will like it.
And that is all for me. I might do the Tedeschi Trucks Band, but outside of that…who knows…
Tedeschi Trucks Band – Signs – (Swamp Family Music)
Ryan Bingham – American Love – (Axster Bingham Records)
Foreigner – The Greatest Hits of Foreigner Live in Concert – (Trigger Productions)
Elvis Presley – The Best of The ’68 Comeback Special – (RCA Records)
Chaka Kahn – Hello Happiness – (Island Records)
India.Arie – Worthy – (BMG)
Avantasia – Moonglow – (Nuclear Blast)
Rotting Christ – Heretics – (Rotting Christ)
Florida Georgia Line – Can’t Say I Ain’t Country – (Big Machine)
Trisha Yearwood – Let’s Be Frank – (Gwendolyn Records)
Actually listened to some of the Tedeschi Trucks Band earlier, but turned it off. Not for me. Ryan Bingham on now. He’s an artist I’ve always wanted to like more than I do and this is another that just doesn’t click. I should maybe have given in by now, but he has some great tunes… I think maybe his albums are just a few tracks too long.
Anyhoo, I can’t think of anything else.

Good to know on Tedeschi, i see a lot on them, but never listened to them and thought about trying this one. Don’t know Ryan either, but again, I am trying new things and maybe give it a try. The Jon Fratelli one is so different than his regular band, not sure about it yet.

I see a lot about them, too… genuinely haven’t been that underwhelmed in a while.
Ryan’s good. Liked what I heard of it earlier and I’ll definitely go back to it.

I will check out Ryan, plus he liked the tweet that went out today so he gets points for that.

Foreigner keep putting out any kind of greatest hits sets..man welcome to the club along with KISS/Aerosmith and others…

That’s what happens when you don’t put out new music. You have to keep your name out there so throw a different version of a greatest hits package since that is what the masses will buy

Yeah I would be up more for a vintage Lou led Foreigner live album than Mick and Hired Guns version of what’s out there now.
Speaking of which they are plying here next month and tickets are steep so a no go for me…

I would go to see them when they do those shows where Lou comes back and does some songs.

Morbidly curious about Avril even though she stopped rocking years ago.

Agreed. But I do like her voice and I think that is what keeps me coming back.

I love her second album so much. A few weeks ago she was doing a live Q&A on Twitter. I asked if she’d ever go back to a rocking sound like that, and she didn’t answer 😦

She definitely didn’t go back to it in this one.

My favourite Elvis concert! And I’m definitely streaming Avantasia, pronto.

Cool on the Elvis and I hope you enjoy the Avantasia.

I’ll give Tedeschi Trucks Band a spin. That’s about it.

Is there some world record for number of Greatest Hits albums released within a decade that Foreigner is going for or what? Will give new Avril a listen!
