Welcome to a very busy Friday of releases. There are a bunch of releases I am interested in getting, but only one I am buying as that one is so expensive, I can’t afford anything else. As Summer keeps getting hotter, so does the new music. My choices are highlighted in Blue. What are you interested in getting? Let me know what you want and what I missed and most of all…enjoy all the music. Have a great weekend.
Def Leppard – Box Set Volume Two – (Mercury): Finally!!! Volume Two is upon us. Volume One was so awesome, now Def Leppard bring us the next set with the albums Adrenalize, Retroactive, Slang and Euphoria all on vinyl (or CD is you want). I don’t have any of these on vinyl so this is an absolute MUST!!! You also get 4 Vinyl full of Bonus tracks, rarities and live songs that is right…FOUR!!!. What is extra cool about this is that a friend of mine was asked for songs from his collection to go on this set and there of 7 songs of his (live shows, I believe) that are on here and he is credited!! Way to go Mike Ladano!!!
Collective Soul – Blood – (Fuzze Flex Records): I am excited about this one as well. Collective Soul bring us album #10!! I am glad they are still going strong and they keep getting better along with it. I haven’t heard anything off this one yet as I want to take it all in at once. These Georgia boys don’t usually disappoint so it should be great.
There are a few more I want to hear, I just hope I find time after getting through 10 Def Lep vinyls and Collective Soul…
The Raconteurs – Help Us Strangers – (Third Man Records): Jack White’s side project is back! I loved the earlier releases and have been hoping for more.
Drivin’ N Cryin’ – Live the Love Beautiful – (Drivin’ N Cryin’): More Georgia boys. Old home week for me. I didn’t even realize they were still putting out new music so a nice surprise.
Hollywood Vampires – Rise – (earMusic): Johnny Depp, Joe Perry, and Alice Cooper…you may have heard these guys before. They are together for what I believe is their second release. I like Alice & Joe, so no brainer in at least a listen.
And the rest…
Ben Rector – Magic: Live from the USA – (OK Kid Recordings)
Prince – Originals – (NPG Records)
And the even more…
Unspoken – Reason – (Centricity Music)
The Rolling Stones – Bridges to Bremen (Live) – (Eagle Rock Entertainment)
Willie Nelson – Ride Me Back Home – (Sony Music)
Mark Ronson – Late Night Feelings – (Sony Music)
Hot Chip – A Bath Full of Ecstasy – (Domino Recordings)
Phillip Bailey – Love Will Find A Way – (Verve Records)
A few here I’m interested in – Mark Ronson, Hot Chip, Willie Nelson, Stones, and Hollywood Vampires (though I found the first album underwhelming). I listened to the Raconteurs album earlier when I started out on the commute to work… it wasn’t particularly good, unfortunately.

Shucks on the raconteurs. I will still give it a listen at work. The Collective Soul one was good, but didn’t blow me away. Needs a few more listens. Who knows what else I will listen to as I am hoping my Lep box set is at home when I get there!!!

My Def Lep box was delivered at 8:00 AM! Of course… I’m freaking out about the records sitting outside all day while I’m at work. Yes, I looked up at what temperature does vinyl melt! Luckily, it’s not direct sunlight… there is some shade on my porch.

It is awesome. I can’t wait to dive into those rare songs (I have them all digitally, but on vinyl will be cool).

Hopefully it will pop up today. Mine should be at home when I get there! I can’t wait to go through it. I don’t have any of these on vinyl, so I am excited to finally have them in that format. And of course all those bonus tracks. I can’t believe it will be 4 LPs of bonus material!! (which I have digitally, but so what!!

I’m very excited to have Slang on vinyl! IMHO… they’re best album besides High ‘n’ Dry.

Slang is awesome, but like you, I think a High N Dry is the best. For me, Slang is #4 as I ranked them a few months back.

I think it was #4

Yes! That’s how I originally discovered your page… the Def Lep album rankings. I agree 100% with the placement. The top 3 are landmark albums that firmly established Def Lep. I think you would be hard pressed to find anyone that can argue against the top 3. The only placement that I might debate is the self titled album. In fairness, I haven’t listened to it as much as the other releases. I need to go back and spin it a few more times. For Yeah!, the cover of the Kink’s “Waterloo Sunset”, is the highlight for me. Great cover!

I agree on “Waterloo Sunset” that is my favorite on Yeah! That and “Winter Song”. The latest album is really great, but anything to me would have been good after ‘Sparkly Lounge’.
