Summer is over and School is back in session, now we need some new music. Who am I kidding, I don’t need a reason to want new music. Every week is a good week for that. However, this week is a little limited on the releases. There are quite a few, but not a lot to excite my senses. There are a few I will check out and they are highlighted in Blue. Let me know what interests you and what I might have missed. Thanks for stopping by and have a great weekend!!
Black Star Riders – Another State of Grace – (Nuclear Blast): Black Star Riders are back with their fourth studio release and I am eager to hear what is in store as well as a little apprehensive since Damon Johnson is no longer in the band. He was a big draw. I will keep an open mind and give it a try as Ricky is still on vocals and Scott is still there as well, but I hate they are only down to 2 of the 5 original members.
Lindsey Stirling – Artemis – (LindseyStomp Records/BMG): This young lady plays one mean violin. I find her to be sensational and always entertaining and I don’t expect this to be any different. A couple vocal tracks on this one as well with guest Amy Lee and Elle King which should be incredible, but the highlight is always her playing. If you haven’t checked her out, do yourself a service and do so.
Aaron Shust – Nothing to Fear – (Shust Music LLC): And last for this for me is Aaron Shust. He is a Christian singer and on the more mellow side which I like to travel down that road every once and a while. He has delivered for me in the past and I expect some more great, inspirational music. He might not be for my rocker audience, but you never know.
Melanie Martinez – K-12 – (Atlantic Records): My kids player her debut album so much, I actually became tired of hearing it. I expect they will be all over this one and as a result, I will hear it. I did a review of her debut, ‘Cry Baby’, if you want to check it out, we will see if this one sparks a review.
Miles Davis – Rubberband – (Warner Records)
Iggy Pop – Free – (Thousand Miles, Inc)
The Highwomen – The Highwomen – (Elektra Records)
Sister Hazel – Earth – (Croakin’ Poet Records)
Alessia Cara – This Summer E.P. – (Def Jam Records)
Johnny Gill – Game Changer II – (J Skillz Records)
Death Cab for Cutie – The Blue E.P. – (Atlantic Recordings)
The Allman Brothers Band – Fillmore West ’71 – (Allman Brothers Band Recordings)
The Brand New Heavies – TBNH – (Acid Jazz Records)
Sleeping With Sirens – How It Feels to Be Lost – (Sumerian Records)
Westlife – Spectrum – (Virgin EMI)
Bat for Lashes – Lost Girls – (AWAL Recordings)
You can pretend you’re not going to be out early to be first in line for the Westlife album but it’s not convincing.
Not a thing for me this week though

Highwomen is the most interesting to me this week. I’m burned out on Black Star Riders honestly. It would take a lot to pull me back in at this point.

I got bored with it in the car so I turned it to something else. I get what you are saying on BSR.

J will be happy to see Iggy Pop with something out!
BSR I bought the debut it was ok but it didn’t lead me to buy anything else by these guys.
I see REM is releasing a deluxe version of Monster which I think is there best so we shall see
Alter Bridge and those box sets are coming lets hang in there for a bit longer haha

BSR is a great tight band but I’m not moved by the songs from the last 2 releases. IP Free is just a train wreck, I was so disappointed when it hit the streaming services. There’s always next week 🙂

I hate to hear that about IP. Too bad. On BSR, this one won’t change your mind either.

Checking out Iggy Pop’s release for sure. And it’s cool to see Lindsey Stirling with new material! Her videos are always so much fun to watch.

Like the sound of the Stirling. I am a violin guy. The Davis also has me curious.
