Happy Friday, thankfully we made it through another week. How do I know that you made it? Well, if you didn’t, you wouldn’t be reading this right now would you. As your reward, we have a list of new albums coming out today and one I am really excited about and one I am interested in hearing for comparison purposes (I explain more later). My choices are highlighted in Blue. There are a ton of releases so hopefully there is something for you. Let me know what you’d like to hear and let me know what I might’ve missed so everyone can know. Thanks for stopping by and I hope you all have a wonderful weekend.
Cheap Trick – In Another World – (BMG Rights Mgmt): Cheap Trick is still going strong and they are bringing us their 20th Studio Album. 20th!!! Wow!! That is incredible. After the amazing album ‘We’re All Alright!’, I am super excited to hear this follow-up. I am sure it will be great as they have really seemed to find a new groove and are putting out some solid stuff. This is why they might be one of the greatest American Bands of all time!! And because of that they will be the next band that gets a Series on this site. Now it won’t be for maybe 6 months, but it is coming!!! Get Ready!!!
Taylor Swift – Fearless (Taylor’s Version) – (Republic Records): As you probably know, Taylor has had major legal issues with her former label and she doesn’t own the rights to here early studio albums. So to solve that problem, she is faithfully recreating each and every album. The first up is her second album, ‘Fearless’, and she is calling them ‘Taylor’s Version’. I have to say, I am interested to hear this and compare it to the original to see how she does. She’s not as young as she was, but she still has the voice, so let’s see.
And all the rest…
Blaze Bayley – War Within Me – (Blaze Bayley Recording): This ones for you Harrison!!
The End Machine – Phase 2 – (Frontiers Records)
Sweet Oblivion feat. Geoff Tate – Relentless – (Frontiers Records)
The Treatment – Waiting for Good Luck – (Frontiers Records)
ScreaMachine – ScreaMachine – (Frontiers Records)
FM – Tough It Out Live – (Frontiers Records)
Infinite & Divine – Silver Lining – (Frontiers Records)
Primal Fear – I Will Be Gone E.P. – (Nuclear Blast)
Termina – Dysphoria – (Termina Productions)
Motorjesus – Hellbreaker – (AFM Records / Soulfood Music)
Lynyrd Skynyrd – Live at Knebworth ’76 – (Eagle Rock)
Fleetwood Mac – Live (Super Deluxe Edition) – (Rhino Entertainment)
Rev. Peyton’s Big Damn Band – Dance Songs for Hard Times – (Family Owned Records / Thirty Tigers)
Emily Kinney – The Supporting Character – (EM-K Productions / Julian Records)
Dallas Moore – The Rain – (SOL Records)
Parker Milsap – Be Here Instead – (Okrahoma Records)
You know me too well. And the Mac live album is interesting too. If only I hadn’t just bought the definitive one :). That being said, the Tusk tour of 79-80 is my second favourite era of the band, so there’s definitely a place in my collection for that one too.

The older I get the more I like Mac.

Cheap Trick are legends to keep on trucking for so long. They really shook off that creative dry spell that almost destroyed them in the ’80s. That self titled comeback from 1997 is one of their best albums.

Yes they are. I am itching to start that series, but it will come soon enough.

Swift only turned 31 a few months ago, it’s just that she started so young she feels like she’s been around forever.

I know, it is crazy to think back to how young she was and already so good.

I might spin hers as I loved her in TWD.

I haven’t loved what I’ve heard of her music, but I she has a good voice (I could listen to her singing Tom Wait’s Hold On all day long) and this one sounds quite promising.

Interesting list! Motorjesus is a cool rocker band name. Must’ve come from their Motorheads.
I’m curious about the Taylor Swift thing. I don’t know much about her, or this legal situation. But if there are rights issues with the old albums, how is recreating them faithfully not just giving more money to the people that own them? Isn’t it rights to content, not who released it? I probably don’t understand it.

That is why they made the list, I loved the name.
And with Taylor, I don’t know the situation. My thought is they control the masters and how they are released, but as the writer she owns the song. And therefore, can re-record her own songs, but she just can’t control or make-money on her original albums. IDK!!

Hm, well, if she’d doing it it must be alright, legally. It kinda sounds to me like the Stones and how they didn’t own all those old records from the 60s. Finally in the early 70s they made their own label. Imagine not owning rights to all those old classic tunes that get played a zillion times a day.

The Lynyrd Skynyrd – Live at Knebworth.. I want to see and hear that. From what I have seen of that show they were hot…I’ve heard the Stones night appearance and it was not among their best.

I nearly shat when I read the FM release but it is the fake FM from Britain, not the real Canadian one.
