IT IS FRIDAY!!!!! The biggest Friday for me in a long time. Man, there are some great stuff coming out this week and I am sure you will find something. There are over 35 releases on the list and I know it is way too much to listen to everything, but there are so many I want to hear. There are actually 3 albums I have on Pre-Order and they are the first three on my list. All my choices will be in Blue like normal. Make sure to tell me what you want to hear and what albums I may have missed. Thanks so much for stopping by and I hope you all have a wonderful and enjoyable weekend. I know I will as I can feel the sandy beaches and ocean calling my name right now!!!
Mammoth WVH – Mammoth WVH – (EX1 Records): First up this week is the debut album Wolfgang Van Halen. Yes, Eddie’s son is out with his one band and this is going to be awesome. Wolfgang is making his own path with this very modern rock album. And the guy can sing and play all the instruments too!! A major talent in the rock world that is ready to be unleashed. Hold on tight and grab on because this is going to blow you away!!! Can’t wait for the delivery guy to get here with my copy!!
Kiss – Off the Soundboard: Tokyo 2001 (Live) – (Universal / Simstan Music): Kiss!! Is there anything that needs to be said…well…yeah actually. Kiss is starting a series of albums called “Off the Soundboard” and is going to be bootleg type albums from concerts of the past and what a good one to start with. I can tell you if this becomes a regular thing, someone is going broke!!! And it will be worth it!! Yes, I bought this too!!
Def Leppard – Boxset: Volume 3 – (Virgin EMI / Bludgeon Riffola / Mercury): Finally!!! Volume 3 is here. I believe this was supposed to come out last year, but Covid hit and so it was delayed…but better late than never. This has ‘X’, ‘Yeah” and ‘Songs from the Sparkle Lounge’ plus tons of bonus material all on 9 LPs…dang!! One more to go in the series after this and I can’t wait, but for now I will dive in to this. And this is on order!!
Garbage – No Gods No Masters – (Garbage Unltd / BMG): The band Garbage is back after 5 years and Shirley Manson is still got it (hell she’s never lost it). This band always delivers and Shirley is one of great singer. Enough said!!
Maroon 5 – Jordi – (Interscope Records): I will listen to this once!! Once because I am sure it is still the same old crap they’ve been shoveling for years now. The band that once rocked out with a great funk style are now a joke. And seeing this song has Megan Thee Stallion, it tells me all I need to know. The band isn’t strong enough to stand on its own anymore. They need an “it” artist of the time to help them sell music. Adam…I shake my head in disgust!! Ok, maybe I won’t listen to this after all!
Dennis DeYoung – 26 East, Vol 2 – (Frontiers Records): Dennis DeYoung is back with his FINAL album of his career…at least that what he is saying now. The former Styx singer takes his final bow and I think this will be a great way to go out…on his terms and still doing quality work. Thanks Dennis fo all the music over the years…you will be missed!!
Crowder – Milk & Honey – (Sixsteps Records/Sparrow/Capitol): A little Christian rock that will make me feel good as David Crowder always does.!! Let’s turn it up and have some fun!!
And then we have all the rest…happy listening!!
Joe Bonamassa – Now Serving: Royal Tea: Live from the Ryman – (J&R Adventures)
Black Sabbath – Sabotage (Super Deluxe Edition 40th Anniversary) – (Rhino / Warner)
Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds – Back The Way We Came: Vol. 1 (2011-2021) – (Sour Mash Records)
Lukas Nelson & Promise of the Real – A Few Stars Apart – (Fantasy Records / Concord)
Mr. Bungle – The Night They Came Home (Live) – (IPECAC Recordings)
Danny Elfman – Big Mess – (Danny Elfman / ANTI) – Harrison…this one is for you!!
Ryan Adams – Big Colors – (PAX Americana Recordings)
One Desire – One Night Only: Live in Helsinki – (Frontiers Records)
Brother Against Brother – Brother Against Brother – (Frontiers Records)
AFI – Bodies – (Ex Noctem Nacimur Music)
Sleater-Kinney – Path of Wellness – (Mom+Pop)
The Oak Ridge Boys – Front Porch Singin’ – (Lightning Rod Records / Thirty Tigers)
Charles Mingus – Mingus at Carnegie Hall Deluxe Edition – (Rhino Records)
Dave Koz & Cory Wong – The Golden Hour – (Just Koz Entertainment)
Crypta – Echoes of the Soul – (Napalm Record)
Distant – Aeons of Oblivion – (Unique Leader Records)
Green Jelly – Garbage Band Kids – (Cleopatra)
Terra Odiumm – Ne Plus Ultra – (Frontiers Records)
Justin Stone – Bent Rules – (Justin Stone)
Cold Cave – Fate in Seven Lessons – (Heartworm Press)
Skyzoo – All the Brilliant Things – (Mello Music Group)
Islands – Islomania – (Royal Mountain Records)
Julian Lage – Squint – (Blue Note Records / UMG)
Joana Serrat – Hardcore from the Heart – (Great Canyon Records / Loose Music)
Marina – Ancient Dreams in a Modern Land – (Atlantic Recording)
Lin-Manuel Miranda – In the Heights (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack) – (Water Tower Music / Warner Bros)
Todd Dulaney – Anthems & Glory (Live) – (Entertainment One): Sorry…no video
Jessie Ware – What’s Your Pleasure? (The Platinum Pleasure Edition) – (A PMR/EMI – Universal)
KennyHoopla, Travis Barker – Survivors Guilt: The MixTape – (Mogul Vision Music / Arists Records)
I guess I better checkout Mammoth. Seems to be making waves already.

I never understood the desire to name your band something like Garbage. If you’re trying to be ironic, there’s got to be better names that don’t set you up so well for the critics.

It is a name that will lead to numerous puns for sure. Luckily though, I don’t think their work has been garbage so hopefully no one has had to go there.

I can’t wait to read your review for the Def Leppard Volume 3 box set (when you get it, of course)!

I hope I have it by next weekend so I can have a review up the following week.

That’d be awesome. I’m looking forward to it. You just need one more after this to complete the Def Leppard logo for your set. I would’ve bought it too, but I already have two of the studio albums in that box set, so I didn’t want to rebuy the albums I already have (even with the bonus material included in the set).

My Leppard and Kiss are set to ship next week according to Amazon.
I have not ordered Bungled, Dennis or Mammoth yet. I plan on placing an order for the Triumph box set tomorrow with Encore, so I will try to get all four.
Encore opens when I’m interviewing Andy so I’m gonna try and buy Triumph right during the opening credits.

My Lep and Mammoth ship sometime this week. Kiss not until the 29th. I will miss RSD since I will be in the car so I will miss the Triumph box set. I’m a little bummed.

Ryan Adams Big Colors is the one I was most interested in, but it’s not as good as I’d hoped it would be (2 years ago!). I’ll likely check out Garbage and Mr. Bungle (their version of Loss of Control is outrageously good)

I hope you enjoy the other two more than you did the Adams one. Have fun on the show this evening!

Me too. I didn’t think Big Colors was a poor album, just not the album I was hoping for. Unreasonably high expectations.
I’m looking forward to hanging out with the folks tonight… seems I’ve known them for an age, so good to have some proper chat.

Good to know (was kinda expecting that). Gonna give it a whirl in a bit. I’ve been on a wee bit of a Garbage kick lately.

Nothing too exciting for me this week, but my wife will be interested in Lin-Manuel Miranda.

I was totally wowed by the Dennis DeYoung. That was classic Styx! I’m talking my 2 favourite albums, “The Grand Illusion” and “Pieces of Eight.”

Ok, that is great to hear. I haven’t listened to that one yet. I will move it up on the list now.

Did you put Mr. Bungle next to Danny Elfman for a reason?

No, I am afraid that was by chance.

Wow that’s a ton. I must be in a funny mood ‘cos the only one that said it might get my money today was the Mingus…

I’m kind of lukewarm on Mammoth. $45 for it on vinyl, so I can wait. And I want that Sabbath set but $56 for it on CD. I’ll wait for a price drop if it ever comes.

Love the Mammoth. Mine wasn’t that much, but worth it.

Yeah, I might be just bitter that it is so expensive, lol

It is quite pricey. I am sure it will be in a used bin down the road.
