We are at the end of July already and dang the releases are still heating up and this week is a scorcher!! There is a battle going on in my house as one of my favorite bands is releasing and album and one of kids favorite artists is as well so it will be a fight on who plays what in the car. The girls will win because they have me wrapped around every finger!! I will go ahead and admit defeat. My choices this week are in Blue and I am sure there will be something for you as well as there are around 40 releases to choose. Let me know what you want to hear and what I may have missed so everyone knows it as well. Thanks for stopping by and have a great weekend!!
Needtobreathe – Into the Mystery – (Elektra Records): If you follow this site at all then you know Needtobreathe is one of my favorite bands of all time!! While in Quarantine in 2020, they couldn’t tour so they made a new album…hell, why not!! Can’t wait to see where their heads were on this one and glad we got one so much sooner than we probably would have. I guess Covid was good for something!!
Billie Eilish – Happier Than Ever – (Darkroom / Interscope Records): Unless you’ve been under a rock the last few years, you know Billie Eilish is like the Big Cheese!! My kids love her and I will admit she has some great songs and teamed up with her brother who writes a lot of it, they are a pretty dynamic duo right now. I did really enjoy the single “Therefore I Am” so hoping the rest is as good.
Dee Snider – Leave a Scar – (Napalm Records): Dee’s last two solo albums have been absolutely killer! The heavier he gets, the better it seems. I haven’t heard anything off this one, but if it is in the same vein as the last one, we are in for another treat. Keep the head banging Mr. Snider!! Seems to be working.
And all the rest…
Prince – Welcome 2 America – (Legacy Recordings)
7eventh Time Down – I’m Free E.P. – (BEC Recordings)
Blues Traveler – Traveler’s Blues – (Round Hill Records)

Nitrate – Renegade – (AOR Heaven)
Billie’s new retro housewife look is confounding. I guess with the sarcastic album title and the image she’s trying to shake the whole mopey perception people have of her.

Good for her for changing it up. The new stuff has been hit or miss. My kids are losing interest as a lot of the new stuff sounds similar with little variety.

they seem to be counting down for sure.

I respect her for writing her own material with her brother instead of using 15 million producers/guest star featurings on her album.

Agreed, that is what sets her apart from her peers. She at least has some talent that extends beyond singing.

OMG I USED TO LOVE ‘ARTHUR’ AS A KID!!!! I can’t believe there’s been 24-25 seasons of that show (still going on).

I hate to see it ending. My kids and I watched that every day. They loved it and I didn’t think it was too bad.

Then again, I’m not sure if modernism has been kind to this show.

Let’s not go there. That will just piss me off. I still think it was a great show for the kids.

Ok, you’re right. Just focus on the happy memories you and your kids had with the show.

Dee Snider for me. Writing a post about it as I type this. I’ll also check out needtobreathe.

I noticed Kanye’s album never came out either. He’s remixing and re-recording already.

What a mess. This is why I’m not a fan of his.

Is that the only reason? 😉

Nope, but one of many.

I think I have some of the same reasons.
His ego is #1.

I’m still trying to dig into that latest STP release last week. That live show they added is brilliant.

I have Prince arriving today from Amazon. I will look into Los Lobos, King Woman, Axel Rudi Pell, Blues Traveler, Dee Snider. Maybe a few others.
Not on the list is a 4cd Geezer Butler I will be grabbing as well. I think I’ll hit my local record store today.
I think it’ll be expensive.

Dang Geezer! A week ago that was slated for Aug 6th as I put it on that post. I can’t believe they released it early!! Now I have to go fix that post!! Thanks for the heads up. And you have a lot to get through based on your list!!

Scratch that, I removed it from that post as well…maybe it already came out because I don’t know why I wouldn’t have moved it today’s post. anyway, glad you brought it up.

That’s a huge list and not one I need to buy on release. Hm. Son Volt makes me curious though. By the way, I don’t see any text in blue. Or am I missing something?

You are missing something. I see the first 3 in Blue. But that is okay. And yes, a lot on the list. Of course the Needtobreathe will be my big one.

Yeah it’s weird I don’t see blue text.

NTB day! Will have that album streaming strong tonight. I also like to check out Bleachers with their fun, upbeat, 80’s-ish sound. Thanks for the post with the new releases as always!

You are welcome. Thanks for checking in. I have only heard the NTB one once so far in the car with my kids so didn’t get a good listen. My CD will be here Monday (vinyl not until November). Can’t wait to hear it without the distractions.
