Welcome to the last New Release Friday of October. This weekend is Halloween and what are the treats in store for you. There are around 50 releases this week so I would say that is a pretty nice treat for everyone. Two of the ones I have on order and will hopefully arrive soon so I can spin them and one is one I am sure I will hear because of my kids plus I am interested in hearing it anyway. My choices are in Bold. Let me know if the releases this week are a treat or a trick and let us know what else is out this week that I may have missed. Thanks, as always, for stopping by and I hope everyone has a frighteningly great weekend!!
Whitesnake – Restless Heart Super Deluxe Edition – (Rhino Records): One thing David Coverdale does well is how to put together a fantastic box set. He has hit it out of the park with ‘Slide it In’, ’87 and with Slip of the Tongue, now it is time for the next in the series, “Restless Heart”. This underrated album and often overlooked album gets the super deluxe treatment and you will get a remastering, unreleased and demos as well as a live show and it will all be amazing as usual! Mine is out for delivery and should be here today!!
John 5 & the Creatures – Sinner – (John 5 / Big Machine Label Group): John 5 is probably my favorite guitarist out there right now. Whether it is his solo work, his work with Rob Zombie or his noodling around on instagram, he is nothing short of amazing. I am sure we will get more rock, metal and bluegrass with this release like we do and I couldn’t be happier about that. I have a signed copy of this on its way to the house very soon. Can’t wait!!
Ed Sheeran – ‘=’ – (Asylum Records / Atlantic / Warner): The biggest release in the pop world is the great Ed Sheeran. He is back with another mathematical titled book. I have to say that the poppiness of the first single Bad Habits was really great so I can’t wait to hear what else he has in store for us.

I like lots of pop music but not Mr Sheeran. I’m checking out the Tori Amos now – I haven’t really kept up but this one interests me for some reason.

I don’t like much pop but i like Ed. I took my daughter to see him a few years back and it was such a good shows. Just him and only him and some how he mesmerized the crowd for 1 1/2 hours all by himself.

There are several here I want to check out, I’ll probably come back tomorrow and run that down a bit. One that I’m looking forward to that isn’t on your list is Marissa Nadler – The Path Of The Clouds. She’s a veteran indie rock/folk/etc artist and has a bit of a guestlist on this new album out today.
Overall this is a loaded release week, at least for my interests, something I guess is bound to happen so that artists can get their albums in for AOTY considerations.

Marissa Nadler, I don’t remember seeing that on any list I steal from . Thanks for mentioning her. I can’t wait for my Whitesnake box set to arrive. My John 5 will be here Monday I believe.

Omg I haven’t listened to Black Veil Brides since high school lol! Also, I never got why Ed Sheeran always used math symbols for his album covers.

I haven’t listened to BVB since, well forever!! LOL!! I don’t know why either on Mr. Sheeran.

He probably just wanted to be creative. I stopped listening to Sheeran because most pop music and love songs are bad for my mental health.

Oh boy, what a great day to take off work! I knew what I wanted to buy today, but now there is more temptation. I already had my eyes on Black Veil Brides and the War on Drugs. Sorry wallet, I must punish you some more!
I absolutely love Pink Floyd’s Momentary Lapse of Reason. I’ll have to consider picking that one up, as well as the Whitesnake album. To be honest, I don’t know Restless Heart at all. I agree that Dave does a good job putting together reissues. REM has me curious too. New Adventures is an excellent album that has held up well.
Ooh, Jerry Cantrell has some new stuff out. His solo stuff is pretty good. The man can write a melody, as well as killer guitar riffs.
My wallet may not be happy, but thanks for the update!

I could use a day off!!! My wallet will be hurting this month with the Whitesnake box set, John 5 and the big Kiss Box Set for Destroyer! Plus, I am itching to go to the record stores as it has been at least 3 weeks.

My Whitesnake is out for delivery too. Looking forward to it. I wasn’t a fan of the album when it came out, haven’t even heard it in decades. I’m looking forward to giving it another try though and I’m sure all the remixes and extras will be worthwhile anyway. Really love these sets.

I wasn’t a huge fan of this album when it came out, but I like it now and when it comes to box sets, these are worth it with all the extras.

Totally. I think it got compromised along the way so it’ll be great to hear the remixes and demos… to hear how it was supposed to be.

It was supposed to be his solo album and they made him add the Whitesnake name.

This is the first time I hear the name John 5 in a musical context. I thought there was only one Johnny 5. Speaking of which, after my trip to the record store, my wallet will be screaming “more input” at me!

John 5 is the BEST!!! He is Rob Zombie’s guitarist and has been with Marilyn Manson and David Lee Roth and he writes for so many artist! If you’ve never checked him out, he is a must if you like guitar albums.

Noted. I’ll give him a listen. I love guitar albums. My record store didn’t have most of the new releases on the shelves. I came home with Whitesnake, Black Veil Brides, and two older albums – Damn Truth’s Devilish Folk, and Royal Blood’s Typhoons. I had to summon the almighty Amazon for Pink Floyd and War on Drugs. Hmm, 28 CDs purchased in a month. I think that’s a record for me! Now cool it with the new releases so my ears can catch up! lol

28!! That is awesome. And that Royal Blood one is great. I really like them.

I’d forgotten about the new Jerry Cantrell solo album, I’ll have to hasten to check that out. The new War On Drugs album is a beaut and those two rereleases – Pink Floyd and REM are both crackers too
