Welcome to the last Friday of August! Fall is coming but the releases are still hot. The only one I have on order currently is Night Ranger’s Best of…not that I need another comp, but the completist in me needs it. I want to check out the new Prince album as well as Alabama Shakes. What do you want to hear this week? Let us know and let us know what we missed. Thanks for stopping by and have a great weekend.
Night Ranger – Best of – (Frontiers Records)
Prince – Timeless – (NPG Records / Legacy Recordings)
Mastodon – Marrow Deep – (Loma Vista Recordings)
Everlast – Embers to Ashes – (Martyr, Inc. / Thirty Tigers)
The Warning – Everything’s Falling – (Republic Records / UMG / Lava Music)
Alabama Shakes – I Must Be Dreaming – (Limestone Listening Club / Island Records)
Billy Strings – So Much For Goodbyes – (Reprise Records)
Little Big Town – It’s A Dying Art – (MCA Nashville / UMG)
Lauren Alaina – Stages – (Big Loud Records / Mercury Records)

Whitesnake – Restless Heart Super Deluxe Edition – (Rhino Records): One thing David Coverdale does well is how to put together a fantastic box set. He has hit it out of the park with ‘Slide it In’, ’87 and with Slip of the Tongue, now it is time for the next in the series, “Restless Heart”. This underrated album and often overlooked album gets the super deluxe treatment and you will get a remastering, unreleased and demos as well as a live show and it will all be amazing as usual! Mine is out for delivery and should be here today!!
John 5 & the Creatures – Sinner – (John 5 / Big Machine Label Group): John 5 is probably my favorite guitarist out there right now. Whether it is his solo work, his work with Rob Zombie or his noodling around on instagram, he is nothing short of amazing. I am sure we will get more rock, metal and bluegrass with this release like we do and I couldn’t be happier about that. I have a signed copy of this on its way to the house very soon. Can’t wait!!
Marilyn Manson – We Are Chaos – (Loma Vista Recordings / Concord): Marilyn Manson is back with his 11th Studio album…crazy to think he has that many. It has been three years since his prior release and I am sure the fans are eager to hear more of his industrial, shock rock brand of metal.
Mastodon – Medium Rarities – (Reprise Records) – Vinyl out 10/16: I love it when a home town band makes it big and these Atlanta boys have done that and then some. This is a cool release and I might dive in to it as it is a compilation of rare tracks from the band. Rare tracks are always fun.
H.E.A.T – Into the Great Unknown – (Frontiers Records): This Swedish rock band brings us their 5th release and first after losing original guitarist Eric Rivers. I am interested to hear it despite 2 of the original members now gone including the lead singer. That usually really bothers me when you lose the singer, but Erik Gronwell can hold his own and has done a fine damn job since taking over. Here is to hoping for more of the same greatness from these guys.
Otherwise – Sleeping Lions – (Century Media)
Macklemore – Gemini – (Bendo LLC)
Matthew West – All In – (Sparrow)
Josh Ritter – Gathering – (Pytheas Recordings)
Midland – On the Rocks – (Big Machine)
Van Morrison – Roll With The Punches – (Exile Productions)
Leon Russell – On A Distant Shore – (Palmetto)
Chris Hillman – Bidin’ my Time – (Rounder)
Steve Martin / The Steep Canyon Rangers – “The Long-Awaited Album” – (Rounder)
Cradle of Filth – Cryptoriana: The Seductiveness of Decay – (Nuclear Blast)
Lecrae – All Things Work Together – (Reach Records)
Haley Reinhart – What’s That Sound? – (Concord Records)
Brian Wilson – Playback: The Brian Wilson Anthology – (Rhino/Warners)
