Friday New Releases – May 6, 2022

Welcome to May! Can you believe it? Time is flying. There are some really juicy releases this week and I am sure any one that follows this site will know what our #1 pick is this week and he is first on the list. But he isn’t the only one that we will be checking out and they are all highlighted in Blue. Let me know what you are interested in hearing and what we may have missed. Thank so much for stopping by and I hope you all have a wonderful weekend.

  • 71FY5Zbr6gL._AC_UY436_FMwebp_QL65_  Jeff Scott Soto – Complicated – (Frontiers Records): His 3rd solo released in as many years and 9th overall and he might be the busiest man in the business. I think he is awesome, but I am biased as I just got to meet him a couple weeks ago and see him and Jason Bieler in concert (sorry, was I bragging…yes I was). Looking forward to dive in to this, but don’t expect a review until the end of the Jeff Scott Soto Series we are doing.
  • 81orzaFh6oL._AC_UY436_FMwebp_QL65_  Halestorm – Back From the Dead – (Atlantic Recording): Man, I have been waiting for a new album from Lzzy Hale and the gang and the have finally delivered. Are they one of the best newer bands out there, no doubt they are. Lzzy has one of the best rock vocals and when they deliver it, they deliver it hard and heavy!

Friday New Releases – May 3rd

Welcome to May and a very dismal week of releases…at least for me.  There isn’t much I am interested in this week which will hopefully help me catch up on what I missed while on vacation.  There is one I am interest in and another I might check out, but that is all.  My choices are highlighted in Blue.  Let me know what interests you or if I missed anything. Or just stop by and say hi!  Whatever floats your boat.  Have a great weekend!!!

  • a1+ap30xvvl._sx522_  Joy Williams – Front Porch – (Sensibility Records):  Is she the better half of the band The Civil Wars that were together from about 2009-2014?  I don’t know.  I guess that depends if you liked her voice or John Paul White’s voice better.  I love her voice and enjoyed her first solo album after the breakup, so I am looking forward to hear what new she has to offer.  The band was more American folk and I can you classify her that still.  Whatever you want to definite it, it is some great songwriting.

  • A1W3vvhDtmL._SS500_  New Found Glory – From the Screen to Your Stereo 3 – (Hopeless Records):  NFG has been hit or miss over the years.  I am not sure I will enjoy this at it their 3rd covers album, but you never know what you will get so I might give it a shot.  Just glad to see a band from the 90’s still going at it as it seems a lot of bands from that decade aren’t around anymore.

Friday New Releases – March 31st

It is the last Friday of the month and even the last day of the month.  There are over 20 albums on the list today including from some old times like Neil Diamond and Bob Dylan up to newcomers like La’Porsha Renae and Jackie Evancho (ok, she isn’t that new, but she is young).  There are also quite a couple 90’s artists back such as Jamiroquai and Ice T’s Body Count.  Only a few I am really interested in hearing right away and they are highlighted in Blue.  I hope there is something on this list that will brighten your day.  Friday new releases are just a great way to end a busy week.

  • 51ahfe18l2l-_ac_us160_  Brother Firetribe – Sunbound – (Spinefarm):  Yes, I know this album came out last week, but I had excluded it from the list for some strange reason. I wanted to highlight the release so I added it to this week’s new releases…Brother Firetribe comes to us from the great country of Finland.  They are a hard rock and AOR band and is a 5 piece band.  ‘Sunbound’ is their fourth release and after three previously stellar releases, I am looking forward to more magic from this band.

  • 170x170bb-5  Mastodon – Emperor of Sand – (Reprise Records):  Mastodon is heavy metal band from Atlanta, Georgia where I lived for 45 years prior to moving to Charlotte.  These guys are heavy metal and deliver the heavy to the extremes. They are unlike most bands I listen to and it is nice to change it up a little.  I have followed their career for awhile and can’t wait to give a listen.
