Abba – Voyage – (Universal Music / 1221 AB / Polar Music): If you thought things were bad with the pandemic, they are, but you know the world is doomed when we actually get a new Abba album. Who had that on their Pandemic Bingo Card??? After 40 years, our prayers have been answered or is it our nightmares came true…not sure which. Still, who doesn’t want to hear the new Abba album. I’ll give it a spin…why not!!! Things can’t get worse, can they?????
Crazy Lixx – Street Lethal – (Frontiers Records): Sweden is the hottest Glam Rock country in the world. They have given us hundreds, if not thousands, of Glam Rock bands over the years and one of the really cool ones. Always worth a listen!!
Hanson – Against the World – (3CG Records): The MMMBoop boys are back. Okay, they are really way more than that song. They are still putting out great music even after all these years. Always worth checking out. I wish them the best.

Pretty slow week for sure. I want to hear that Crazy Lixx CD but today is all Varga and Sven Gali to get ready for my interview tonight with Dan Fila, the drummer of those bands.

Oh wow, Stabbing Westward is a name I haven’t seen in over 20 years. Not a ton here I want this week, but I am very stoked for Emma Ruth Rundle. I woke up early to play that before I left for work.

That one surprised me as well, not that I listened to them just hadn’t heard the name in a while. Glad you have one this week that you are looking forward to hearing.

Nothing for me — budget is shot. I’d like the Hip but no.

Yeah, mine is in crisis as well.

Ahh, the Hip! I bought the Saskadelphia EP already. I’ll likely pass on the reissue. For anyone outside of Canada, this is a solid album. The band is a national treasure.
As for Radiohead, I didn’t tune them out after Amnesiac, but I had a hard time listening to their output after that. I’m just not into blips and beats that much. I think I’ll check out Crazy Lixx, but it won’t be for a while. I’m still digging through my October haul.

I am happy for a slow week as I am still going through October’s as well plus a couple other purchases.

Nothing today. Gives me a chance to restore my finances after a run of box set pre-orders!

What’s with all the Christmas albums? Glad that u sorted out that this Billy Idol release is the same one that I already have. It is, isn’t it? Still haven’t listened to mine, not once.
Yep, Crazy LIxx for me too and Bullet for my Valentine. Fans of the Dark sound like fun too.
Have fun with tonight’s show!!
Having a Garfield moment and heading over to kitchen for some lasagna.

Yes, same album with maybe one new song. I only got it to complete the vinyl collection.
Hmmm! Lasagna!!

The Hip & Radiohead would be my choices – I gather Hanson’s been quietly putting out good stuff for the last couple of decades!

Yeah, Handson’s had a few quality records. I don’t know what made me listen to them, but I was always surprised so I kept going back.

I will buy whatever that radiohead is. And I want the Hip boxed set but it’s way too expensive for me.

Maybe some day it will be in a Thrift Store!!

Highly, highly, highly unlikely. Unless it’s in dog’s breakfast condition.

Hey now, don’t you be dissing ABBA! I certainly wasn’t expecting to ever hear new music from them either, but it’s heartening that they decided to put out a new album, just like Billy Idol did. And speaking of Mr. Idol, you crack me up John that you’d buy his Xmas album, despite the fact you don’t like it.
There continues to be an astonishing number of album releases week after week. Many artists complained about the quarantines and lockdowns, but from what I can tell, not being able to tour gave them lots of time to write and record new music. By taking advantage of the technologies available today that make recording music remotely and socially distanced fairly easy, it’s no wonder we’re seeing so much new music being released. I haven’t followed Hanson, and wasn’t even aware they were still putting out new music, but the song you shared is pretty good.

I have every album he has on vinyl, so naturally had to complete the set with this one. I’m a little nutso that way.
Yes, so many releases and it is exhausting. I can’t wait for the last few weeks of the year as there really aren’t enough to do post so I get a break.

Waiting for The Hip box to ship. That live Roxy show included is worth the dough. Ozzy released Diary on Apple yesterday as well much to Ladano’s chagrin!

Maybe some day I’ll get in to Hip but I tried with Kevin’s reviews and it didn’t take. Not real thrilled about Ozzy’s digital only re-releases…kinda sucks!

I can’t imagine what photoshoots must be like for the Christmas albums. Taking pictures with Christmas trees, twinkly lights, hot cocoa, Santa Claus, and ugly Christmas sweaters in May or whenever the album was made. That’s so strange to me.

It does have to be weird. How do you get yourself in the mood. Think about all those Hallmark Christmas movies. You know it ain’t Christmas time when they make those. Crazy.

IKR!!! So weird, they probably make those films like months in advance. It just doesn’t seem normal.

I’m really enjoying a bit of Hammock lately so that’ll be on the list for me this week. Will check out the ‘extras’ element of Kid Amnesia but as much as I enjoyed Kid A, that era didn’t get me as much as OK Computer did.
Abba fall into my worst nightmare category especially given that the release of their album and that of Adele’s has had a massive impact on the vinyl pressing chain – it’s the power of bigger labels to bully their way in. Apparently if an artist / band don’t get their album wrapped up in the next few months there’ll be no chance of it being pressed and out before 2023 now as the pressing of 500,00 (!) copies of Adele’s album and similar levels for Abba.

Nice on Hammock. I had never heard of them, but they were high on a couple sales list so I added them.
Yeah that sucks on the supply chain for vinyl. I have 3 or 4 albums that keep getting pushed back and I probably won’t get until after the first of the year now that should’ve come the last couple months.

Frustratingly I gave up the wait on an album that had been 8 months delayed and cancelled my pre-order. Four days later it was released 😀

Ugh!! That would be frustrating.

The ABBA song was pretty good. I liked them as a teenager in the 1970s but when I became a full metalhead in the 80s, I denied that fact.

Same. I still don’t care for them that much though, but I respect them now.
