July was the month of local record stores. I spent a lot of time at a couple this month, Noble Records and Hardy Boys, both excellent local shops. First, we made a trip to Noble Records and I actually had a good trip for vinyl. Meaning I bought a handful not just one here and one there. I grabbed some I’ve been meaning to add to the collection and Tim Durling is to blame for 3 of them as he’s been talking about them a lot.

And if that wasn’t enough, I was scanning the cassettes and I found a ton of Kiss cassettes, those are hard to come by so I grabbed them even though they weren’t in the best shape. I didn’t care too much about that as I just wanted them in the collection. They needed a new home anyway, so why not…I adopted a bunch…

But that wasn’t all from Noble…not in a long shot. Noble has started getting exclusive vinyl for the store. And he is picking really obscure metal and psych rock bands that I’d never heard of. One in particular caught my ear and that was Organ-utan. I streamed it and was blown away so when I was buying the above stuff, I asked about as they are sold out and lo and behold had one left in the store. I bought it and LOVED IT!!! (Review Coming). So, I went back to his website and saw a bunch others he had exclusives on. Two of which arrived from Spain the following week. So, went back the following week and bought them. And more of the same, loved them. I went back 2 weeks later (this past weekend) and asked what else he recommended and boom…bought two more. I am really digging this stuff and listening to FARM now as I type this…

And on one of those trips to Noble, we went by Hardy Boys first and I grabbed a few CDs and a cool Audioslave DVD all really cheap. The CDs were $1 each and the DVD was only $2.50. Sold!!

And the cassettes at Hardy’s were also a dollar, but only 2 I felt moved to buy and so I did…

Now, everything I bought this month was local. No, it wasn’t. I also added more Def Leppard bootlegs to the collection, both CD and DVD. I think I’m done now. You’ll see all these reviewed over the next year so don’t worry…

And I also picked up a Def Leppard Adjacent box set. I picked up Phil Collen’s band prior to Lep called Girl. It was a 6 CD box set of their second album “Wasted Youth”…I can’t wait to dive in to that with all the bonus tracks and live shows. Looks killer.

I also added to my Billy Idol collection. Well, I have this on vinyl and CD already, but this is the new ‘Billy Idol’ debut album that is now an expanded edition. It adds one bonus track and a whole live show from 1982 at The Roxy. Yes, I’ll take that thank you very much…

And finally, I am slowly adding to the Poodles collection and picked up another one called “Performocracy”. Another great album from them. How I wish they were still together!!

And that is all this month. I have a couple albums on order of new releases in August and there is a record show that I hope I can make…we will see. Thanks for hanging around and here it is all in one picture…until next month!

I’m a big fan of “Captured”

A bunch of great scores here. I’m glad I don’t need to buy Kiss on cassette anymore!!!

This is a big chunk of The Kiss cassettes so I don’t need as many now. Soon I will be left with only finding 8-Track.

Nothing on it is anything I needed. I just bought it because it was Hit Parader. Kiss is on it so that helped sway me.

When I was on the Metal Hammer Magazine web forum many years ago, they had like a book club thing for obscure records and it was one of the ones I was told to try

That is cool. I only found it because of our local record store. He has exclusives and this was one of them. He has a new exclusive coming out today that I can’t wait to pre-order.

Nice haul…
Bent out of Shape was my first Rainbow on vinyl, had only cassettes before that. Should still have that one in my collection. Will be getting that Idol re-release.
Don’t have Captured so I’m listening to Trial by Fire instead.

Huh, good to know. I mean, I can find the shows on YouTube, but it’s good to know I can find them on Amazon and Ebay too, if I have the courage to spend the money since I’m already bad at saving money lol.
