Happy Friday! And it is time for another batch of new releases and that always make Friday’s the best day of the week. We have around 30+ this time around so hopefully there is something for you. Friday New Releases – March 5th, 2021

We are already in March, crazy. If I blink, we will be in August or it will be Christmas…either way, time does fly some time. This week there is an abundance of releases worth checking out. Some new, some old in a deluxe format. But all fantastic. And if you make it to the bottom, there is a very special release that is only on here because I took my kids to see them when they were wee little tots which feels like yesterday but was easily 10+ years ago. There is really nothing for me I’m excited about but some I will give a listen and they are highlighted in Blue. Let me know what you want to hear and/or what I may have missed from the list so that way everyone that comes to the site can see what else is out there. My Sunday Song – “Hold Back the River” by James Bay

My Sunday Song #68 is “Hold Back the River” by James Bay.  You could say I have become a huge fan of this young man.  I have his album “Chaos & the Calm” (on vinyl and a picture disc at that) and my daughter and I have seen him in concert (Great show – read the review HERE).  He has been posting pictures on Facebook of him in the studio and a new album coming in 2018 which got me listening to him again.

When I hit this song in the playlist, I remembered how much I love this song.  The quiet opening with just some slow picking on the guitar and his voice.  The slow build up and a little faster pace and faster and faster.  It actually has the feel that as you try to hold back the river, it get harder and harder and more intense.

In an interview with The Sun, James said the following about the song:

“I wrote it after my first really busy period as an artist, when music had taken me around the world for the first time, and at the end of the year, I’ve become really eager to see friends and my family properly. ‘Hold Back The River’ is a metaphor for that feeling.”

Friday New Releases – October 14th

Another Friday and another long list of New Releases.  The wife has gone to Michigan to tour lighthouses with her parents and left me with the kids.  I am going to need something to listen to so I don’t go crazy this weekend.  Good thing there are a bunch I am interested in listening to…and they are highlighted in Blue!

  • cover170x170-1  Tenth Avenue North – Followers – (Provident):  Tenth Avenue North is a pop/rock Christian band out of Florida.  They have been playing since 2000, but their first album didn’t come out until 2008.  Now on their 5th album, I am expecting more of the same energy from the new album and looking forward to it.
