Let the Countdown begin!!!
Starting January 3rd, 2022, we will kick off the EPIC series covering one of my favorite singers, Jeff Scott Soto!! We will go through his entire career from where it all began in 1984 with Panther all the way to his latest solo album that came out this past October called ‘Duets’. Wait, I know it started with a band called Threshold in 1983 (not to be confused with the prog metal band years later), but I can’t find anything on that band or album so it is starting with Panther for this series as I have that album.
No stone will be left unturned! Okay, that isn’t true as we are not going in to any compilations or tribute albums where he wasn’t the featured singer as this will only be albums that Jeff is the Lead Singer and not just appearing on one song as we would be here forever if that was the case. We will also have some great little bonus pieces with Singles and E.P.’s I happen to have in my collection and interesting one-off projects he has done. Heck, I even have a digital bootleg of when Jeff Scott Soto toured as the lead singer with Journey. And as you can see below, it is quite a collection…if I do say so myself…

There will be over 65 Posts in the Series, you read that right, 65!! And that is at least 65 because I am sure he will release 1 to 2 to maybe even 4 albums by the time I’m done. I expect this to take over a year to complete because this isn’t all I’m going to do. No, not at all. We will still finish up the series of Cheap Trick and Aerosmith that we are currently doing in 2022 and when those end I am sure new series will be added in as well. Quite possibly Bon Jovi, Scorpions, Van Halen, Ace Frehley, Poison or even Def Leppard. It won’t be all, just a couple of them, but I can’t decide which ones yet. But heck, I do already have an idea of which epic artist I want to tackle after Jeff, but that will be 2023 and it could be huge. We will announce it next year.
And if you are curious, do I own every album on this list below? The answer is almost, but I am only missing 1. However, there are 3 missing from the picture as they hadn’t arrived in time for the writing of this post. Do I think all of them a great? Uhhh…NO…but we will get in to the whys when we do the reviews of the bad ones. They all won’t be great because not one artist is perfect and everything they put out is not gold. That isn’t being very realistic and very honest actually and any fan that thinks so is delusional. Even an artist will tell you that not everything they do is great. No one is that good…no one!! But MAN! He has some great albums and some great songs that has me hook, line and sinker in to being a JSS fan.
And yes, it is all planned out so do you want to see every post we are doing? Then take a look below as these will be the post for the Jeff Scott Soto Series. The only thing not planned out is the actual dates of all the releases. Outside of the debut review, I don’t know what dates every release will be, I am not that far ahead in my planning. Heck, I’ve only written a couple so far and should have a few more done by the time the first one posts.

We will do one strictly to his Solo Studio albums and then we will do one with ALL Studio albums…and that is a lot!! So I guess that means there will be 68 posts at least.
Here are the albums broken out by Group or Projects…don’t forget, 3 need to be purchased still and 2 are digital only.
Where it all began with me…Talisman…

The Live Shows and cool stuff…

The Talisman related projects…

The Solo work…

The Solo live stuff, compilations and collectibles…

His first real break…Yngwie…

Eyes…

Axel Rudi Pell band…

Takara…

One Off projects…

His newer bands now…W.E.T.

SOTO…

Probably his most successful…

And that is it…get ready as the Countdown has begun!! 2022 is going to be a great year here at 2 Loud 2 Old Music!! If you can’t tell, I am really excited about this series. Spread the word and help me get this in front of Mr. Jeff Scott Soto as I would love to do an interview with him.

Soto needs to hit u up for a chat as this right here is dedication. Look forward to this series as outside the Yngwie stuff and him getting the boot out of Journey I really don’t know much about his career!

Wow this is an epic task. I’ve heard a handful of these, probably most stuck in my memory are the Rising Force albums. But yeah, that’s a lot of music to have done over the years.

I think there will be some stuff in here everyone will like.

HOLY SMOKES! In a way, this will be as, if not more, epic than the KISS series. I mean, this is a labour of love!
Mr. Soto, hit this man up and answer all his questions!!

Wow! My introduction to him was at the M3 festival five or six years ago. I honestly hadn’t known him prior to that. I never imagined he was this prolific! I have the Panther album, and it’s not bad. For such an early recording, the potential and the talent was obvious. I’m looking forward to this.

Cool you have the Panther one as that is one of the more obscure ones. He has been quietly working like a dog for almost 40 years. I probably discovered him 20 years ago.

Well it’s official. You have the best Soto collection I’ve ever seen.
I will join you when you get to the album I own, and review simultaneously.

I am sure some have all the tribute albums he has been on, but I stuck to full albums of just Jeff (mostly).
When we get close to it, remind me and I will make sure to cross-promote.

Cool to get a fanboy respective on the releases. Looking forward to this.
I only have bits of these, some solo, some Wet, some Apollo, some Talisman, Soul Sirkus, some Takara, some Axel Rudi Pell, all of Yngwie but none of Eyes.

You have more than most probably. I’m impressed you have the ones you named. Pretty good! I hope it reaches him and he comes on The LeBrain Train or Scotch on the Rocks and lets me bombard him with those fanboy questions.

well I’m a shredder hater so I never heard Soto’s voice before (I didn’t know the other groups so…)

Oh my god you’re crazy. For the next series, not Poison, Bon jovi or Van Halen (I don’t really like after diver down), there’s too much shit (like the circle and VH III). I think you’ll better do Def Leppard or Scorpions

I’m leaning towards Scorpions for sure. Lep I am probably going to hold on for a while since Ladano is doing a Lep Series that he just started. We will see where I go as my feelings could change.

This will be excellent. One of my favorite vocalists.
Great job on painstakingly acquiring the physical releases.

That was painstaking, but I did it. I might have a surprise coming soon as well.

Hello John, I suggest to add Sentimetal by Gary Schutt to your list, as JSS is featured on all vocals:

Thanks. I actually just bought it about two weeks ago so it will get added. Thanks so much. I hope you enjoy the series and thanks for the suggestion. I think I will have about 7 more than what is on the list as I keep adding.

I stumbled upon your blog following a shoutout by Jeff on his Facebook page a couple of months ago. I’m actually digging the collection series (Aerosmith, Kiss, Queen especially). The Paul Laine interview video was so much fun. Really loooking forward to something similar featuring Jeff: knowing him (not personally), I can easily see it coming in the future. Keep up the good work!

Wow! That is cool. Thanks so much for stopping by and commenting. I have not heard back from Soto’s people yet. I will be meeting him on April 15th though at a concert meet & greet and will remind him about said interview!! And Paul Laine is the nicest guy ever!! He will be back on the show this year to promote the new Defaints and the Jet Set Junkies albums.
