September 2022 Purchases – Vinyl & CDs & More

Another month gone by which is good news because it means more Vinyl, CDs, books and even a DVD have been added the collection. And we are kicking this month off a very pleasant surprise from a good friend of 2 Loud 2 Old Music. Mr. Books himself, Aaron, from KeepsMeAlive.com has sent yet another care package. The man believes in giving! This time around we got 2 books and 2 CDs all the way from the Great White North. Be careful what you say in the comments on his site as you are bound to wind up with it. Aaron knows my love for Idol and I have made comments before about the other 3 items…and now I have them. Thanks Aaron…and yes, he left a little note as usual!!

Now to start the month out, during labor day weekend, 2nd & Charles had their buy 5 get 5 free sale and so I hit up the CDs section and stuck to the 5 and 5 rule. Here is the 5 I bought…

And the five I got for free…or vice versa, however you want to look at it…

Tuesday’s Memes – Kid Rock

I felt it was time to honor (or poke fun) at Kid Rock.  With doing a My Sunday Song on him, I realized I didn’t have Memes collection with Kid Rock so it is time to remedy that now.  Whether you like him or not, he will always make you laugh…at him…not with him…definitely at him.  So I hope you enjoy.

My Sunday Song – “Bawitdaba” by Kid Rock

For My Sunday Song #115, we are tackling “Bawitdaba” by Detroit’s own Kid Rock.  The song comes off his mutli-platinum selling album ‘Devil Without a Cause’.  The song came out in 1999 and the song had moderate success on the radio, but massive success on MTV.  He seemed to be everywhere in 1999/2000.

The song is a mixture of hop-hop and a little nu-metal and that combination threw Kid Rock into the mainstream, pop culture and made him a star.  Love him or hate him, he was a major part of pop culture at the time.

The lyrics weren’t poetic genius, the song made absolutely no sense, and it is hip hop which I have never been a fan.  However!!  I couldn’t help but love this song.  There was something about driving down the road, with the windows down (I didn’t have a convertible), music cranked up as high as it would go and sing the ridiculous line of “bawitdaba da bang a dang diggy diggy diggy said the boogy said up jump the boogy”.  It was awesome!!

Friday New Releases – September 21st

Another great week and some awesome releases to grab hold of today.  There is not a long list, but some varied and interesting stuff.  My choices are highlighted in Blue. Take a look through and let me know if there is anything that interests you and let me know. Let me know also if I missed something good that is out today…as I always miss a few.  Have a great weekend and Happy Listening!!

  • 61xyEppL38L._SS500  Slash – Living the Dream (Feat. Myles Kennedy & the Conspirators) – (Snakepit Records LLC):  Where does Slash find the time to record with the heavy tour schedule since Guns N Roses reunited (most of the band anyway).  Anything with Myles Kennedy on vocals is a must for me.  Slash’s name just adds to the excitement.  I will be spinning this one for sure.

  • 61UPmpqE+TL._AC_US436_QL65_  Hardcore Superstar – You Can’t Kill My Rock ‘n Roll – (Gain/Sony):  Here is a band that the US has kind of ignored and it is a shame. From what I have heard so far sounds great and this might be first up on the drive to work!!  Give them a chance and check them out.  You might like it!!
