Oh my!! It’s Friday the 13th! Nothing good happens on Friday the 13th…well…except for new releases and we have about 40 for you this week. I have to say though, for me, there isn’t much I’m really interested in. Three is one I’ll try just because of the people in it, but expectations are a little low. My choice is highlighted in Blue. Take a look through and see what you want to hear this week and let us know what they are (if there are more than one) otherwise just tell us which one. And let us know what we may have missed that came out and is not on the list. Thanks for stopping by and have a great weekend!
Skills – Different Worlds – (Frontiers Records): The band is one of this Frontiers band that they piece together some great musicians. This was cool for awhile, but now it is getting old. However, this one still intrigues me for one member, guitarists Brad Gillis from Night Ranger. The rest of the band is Renan Zonta, vocalist for the Brazilian rock band Electric Mob, Billy Sheehan from Mr. Big & The Winery Dogs and David Huff from David and the Giants. We will see how it it…
And the rest of the field is as follows…
Kendrick Lamar – Mr. Morale & the Big Steppers – (Top Dawg Entertainment / Aftermath / Interscope Records)
The Chainsmokers – So Far So Good – (Disruptor Records / Columbia)
The releases keep on coming and another solid week of new albums for you. Not as many as the prior weeks but still over 20 to choose from. My choices are highlighted in Blue as usual. What are you interested in listening to this week? Let me know in the comments and please add anything that I may have missed so everyone can know what else is out there. Thanks so much for stopping by and I hope you have a fabulous weekend listening to music!!
Myles Kennedy – The Ides of March – (Napalm Records): Myles is probably the busiest man in the music business and somehow he still found time for a solo album. This is his second solo album and his first ‘Year of the Tiger” was absolutely brilliant. Of course, that makes this one have super high expectations. I have this ordered on a really cool green/white vinyl that was exclusive to his site so I can’t wait to see how it turned out. Plus it is autographed so that will make two albums of his I have autographed!!
Sunbomb – Evil and Divine – (Frontiers Records): I was just talking about Myles being the busiest man in the music industry…well, Michael Sweet might be tied in that category as he is constantly putting out new material. This time around Michael Sweet and Tracii Guns team up for their first album. The band is Sunbomb and is another in a long line of a pairings that Frontiers brings together. I am not a huge fan of this unless it turns in to a real band. We will see if this does, but I am sure this will be a one time thing, which is usually disappointing. I will hold judgement until I listen to it though.
Welcome to the LAST Friday New Release post…EVER!! No, I am kidding. It is the last one of 2020 though. I will return with these on January 8th of 2021 as that is the first week of any significant new releases. With that being said, I hope there is something in here you will like as there isn’t much. There a couple I will try out and they are marked in Blue. Let me know what interests you or what I might have missed so everyone knows what’s out there. Thanks for stopping by and thanks for always stopping by week after week. Happy Holidays!!
George Lynch & Jeff Pilson – Heavy Hitters – (Deadline Music): 1/2 of Dokken together again. Yes, please…well we will see, but I am willing to give it a go. It is a bunch of pop cover songs turned hard rock/metal. Some cool songs so we will see what they do to them.
Jordan Feliz – Say It – (Centricity Music): Christian singer Jordan Feliz is back with a new album. I really loved his first couple album, so hoping for more greatness. This is a digital only release today. Hard copies not until February.
We are halfway through the year now, can you believe it? I have to say, I haven’t been blown away by the first 6 months of releases, heres hoping to a better second half. In this final week of June there are a handful of releases I am looking forward to and they are highlighted in Blue. Hopefully there is something in the list that will connect with you and if there is, let me know which one. Also, let me know if I missed anything as it helps our readers find new music. Thanks and have a great weekend!!
Oh yeah…I have a public service announcement at the bottom of the list, please give it a read! It will help us all!!
The Alarm – Sigma – (Twenty First Century Recording Co): Mike Peters returned in 2018 with the album Equal and it was fantastic. I can’t wait to hear this new one and as with all albums I am excited about, I haven’t heard a song until I take it all in at once. So glad he is back and in such a prolific way!!
Generation Axe – The Guitars That Destroyed the World (Live in China) – (earMusic): A live album of Guitar Heroes…yes sign me up!! Oh, and a live album on top of that…YES PLEASE!!! You get Steve Vai, Zakk Wylde, Nuno Bettencourt, Yngwie Malmsteen and Tosin Abasi. Is there anything else that needs to be said…I didn’t think so.
There are ton of songs in rock & roll about cars. However, this is not a list of songs about cars. This is a list of the most recognizable cars in Rock & Roll. Cars that were in music videos or on album covers. Just the coolest cars that you could actually own and drive. Ok, there is one on here that isn’t really cool, but it had to make the list.
10. The Black Keys’ 91 Dodge Caravan: This glorious vehicle graces the album cover for their 2011 album ‘El Camino’. I am a little confused. The album is called ‘El Camino’ and you show a picture of a Dodge Caravan. Now that is rock & roll. I believe the van is actually similar to their first van they used for touring.
