Rock fans rejoice!! There are an abundance of rock records out today. There are a variety of other genres as well including a Barry Manilow release, but ROCK is KING today for me. My favorites to listen to are highlighted in Blue. There will be more on the list I am interested in, but will get listened to whenever I have time. I hope there is something here for you! Happy Friday and Happy Listening!!
Crazy Lixx – Ruff Justice – (Frontiers Records SRL): The Swedish “Hair” Metal band is back with a new line-up after losing their major songwriter, Andy Zata. After hearing the first song, they still sound the same bringing us loud rock & roll. Hoping for more of the same on the rest of the album.
Thunder – Rip It Up – (Earmusic): English band, Thunder, is bringing us their 11th studio album. They came about in 1990 right when the 80’s rock was dying out and missed out on being a huge band. They have been going strong (off and on) since and I am looking forward to another great release from Danny Bowes and company.
Rhino Bucket – The Last Real Rock & Roll – (Acetate Records): The gritty rock band from California also came out back in 1990 when this style of rock lost out to bands like Nirvana and what a shame. They remind me of old school AC/DC and I am looking forward to some new material.
Incubus – 8 – (Island Records): A third band from the early 90’s is Incubus. The big difference between Incubus and Rhino Bucket & Thunder is that Incubus’ style of rock is what killed off these other bands from making radio hits. Now Incubus is back with some new music and I am just as eager, if not more so, for this release. Loving “Nimble Bastard” so far…
Adrenaline Rush – Soul Survivor – (Frontiers Records SRL)
Labyrinth – Architecture of A God – (Frontiers Records SRL)
Treat – The Road More or Less Traveled (Live) – (Frontiers Records)
Junkyard – High Water – (Acetate Records)
Axel Rudi Pell – Ballads V – (Steamhammer)
Brad Paisley – Love and War – (Sony Music Entertainment)
Sheryl Crow – Be Myself – (Wylie Songs, LLC)
Barry Manilow – This is My Town: Songs of New York – (Verve Label Group)
Pet Shop Boys – Undertow E.P. – (x2 Recordings)
Ray Davies – Americana – (Ray Davies Entertainment Ltd)
Robyn Hitchcock – Robyn Hitchcock – (Yep Roc Records)
Blackbear – Digital Druglord – (Beartrap)
Preservation Hall Jazz Band – So It Is – (Sony Music)
Procal Harum – Novum – (Eagle Rock Entertainment)
Incubus is one of my favorite bands of the 2000s and I’m glad they’ve released a new album. I don’t like “Nimble Bastard” as much as some of their older songs, but it’s still a good song with great lyrics, which are always a highlight of their music.

“So It Is” is tops on my list. What I’ve heard of it so far is terrific. They’re an incredible ensemble and terrific live. 😃

Cool! I don’t think I have ever really listened to them. I guess I should check them out.

If you’re into a little jazz, big horn sections, and a little funk, I’d recommend it. 😃

It’s the Robyn Hitchcock album that interests me most here; I’ll be at least giving it a listen online.

I always listen on line first unless it is a band that get my money no matter what.

Oh yeah, Thunder! Can’t wait to give it a listen. 🙂 I’m also going to check out Crazy Lixx for sure. I haven’t heard of them, but there’s an excited hair metal fan in me!
