Last year, there were a few artist I was hoping would release an album that might have or might not have released one. It is always fun to hope for new music from these bands, but were disappointments. Here is who I was hoping for new albums from last year…
- Def Leppard – Nope…nothing but the Vinyl Collection, Volume 2, thank you very much.
- Kiss – Nothing…but saw them in concert one last time
- Van Halen – Nothing…but I hope Eddie is feeling better
- Ratt – Nope, but looking good for 2020
- Guns N Roses – Nope but keep hearing rumblings
- The Winery Dogs – Still nothing.
- Queen + Adam Lambert – Nothing, but saw them in concert
- Scott Stapp – YES!! Great stuff…SEE REVIEW
- Billy Idol – Nothing
- Royal Blood – Nothing...I think I saw that 2020 is looking good!!
Okay, are there albums I want to see this year from some of my favorite bands that haven’t been announced or in some cases even rumored? Of course there are. These are the bands I want new albums from this year…but it might not happen.
- Def Leppard – please give me another one!!! There are some box sets coming which is great, but I also want new music.
- Kiss – I will keep this on the list until I die!!
- Van Halen – not very likely, but we can always wish
- The Winery Dogs – Still keeping my hopes up
- Guns ‘N Roses – Rumors, Rumors, Rumors!!
- Talisman – they released a song to celebrate the 10 year anniversary of the death of Marcel Jacob…is an album far behind???
- AC/DC – Rumors are insane on this one…I think we will see this one for sure!!
- Motley Crue – Big Tour in 2020 with Def Leppard & Poison…is a new album far behind???
- Poison – Same as Motley statement above!!!
- Aldo Nova – He keeps talking about a 2CD set, but will he get around to releasing it??
- Matt Nathanson – I am greedy, give me another one
- Needtobreathe – Time for a new one fellas!
Now if you didn’t see a band mentioned above it might be because the release date has already been set. Here are the albums we already know about. I will highlight my most anticipated in Blue as well. I will be honest, the year isn’t shaping up to be stellar for me, so I hope there are more to come that I can get excited about. Happy New Year!!!

Thanks for doing this most extensive list, John! Some stuff definitely worth checking out. Maiden for sure as I think they have an album in the can as has been reported which is amazing considering they fitted it in while they are still touring.
What work ethic they possess!
VH they are done I wish they would reissue some stuff with live shows from the different years with Roth even Sam.
I look forward to the Triumph and ZZ Top docs…
Umm lets see KISS I wish they would reissue that Live at the Ritz show…
There’s a Canuck act called Stormforce that is releasing something this month as well so I look forward to that…
I know what you’re saying about all the classic bands releasing new albums but I think that’s a thing of the past as the masses don’t want to hear new tunes just do box sets haha

I always like to see what is coming in new music. Gives me something to look forward to.
I know the old bands don’t think new music is worth doing, but there are still a few of us out here that want it, crave it, need it…I need the box sets too!!!

I hear ya John. But if KISS were to put something out maybe one song from it would squeeze into that set list if that.
Ah hell, let’s give them another KISS comp. is what Gene and Paoul would say!

I would love it if they would do one song. Anything would be nice.

So ready for some new Iron Maiden. Also pretty excited for Anti Flag and Royal Blood’s next release. Thanks for compiling these, it’s going to be such a good year for music!

New Cure, yay!
And I too am hoping those GNR rumblings turn into music this year, hope you’re having a good start to 2020, John!

I just want AC/DC to stop it now, please.

Oh and I wish KISS would release either a live album or a greatest hits of some sort – just to help their fans out.

Just what we needed. It has been a least a year since the last one.

Some good stuff to look forward to this year. I’m keen to hear new Deftones and Pearl Jam (they’ve been promising that for a while). As for the stuff that’s properly scheduled, I’m curious about new …And You Will Know Us By The Trail of Dead, though I really don’t listen to them at all anymore. Drive-By Truckers should be good (they so often are).
The big releases for me this year are Dulli’s solo album (Random Desire – February sometime) and the new Mark Lanegan release (Straight Songs of Sorrow).

I am hoping for a good year as 2019 was not the best for music. Some good releases, but not enough of them. I hope the new decade improves on that.

I still struggled to whittle down a short list for a top 10, so I was happy enough. That said, I think 2010 – 2018 were particularly kind to us, so maybe things had dried up by 2019?

We will go with that theory or just say that they were saving the good stuff for the next decade.

We’d be lucky if we see much of the next decade the way things are going!
