November is done and we are now inching towards Christmas. First, it is time for the monthly wrap-up so lets see what 2 Loud 2 Old Music added to the collection this month. This is the November 2025 Wrap-Up and we have a bunch of vinyl and a whole lot of CDs to get through. This month I hit Noble Records & Repo Records as well as ordered from Discogs and Amazon. So much to go through including a handful of new Rock Candy CDs in the collection, Kiss and a Box Set rolled into one plus a selection of items from Black Friday Record Store Day. Lots of great new and old stuff to go through and show for this month so I hope you enjoy the show!!
So go check it out as it is live right now on YouTube. Thanks for stopping by and please click “Like” and hit “Subscribe” as it helps out the site when you do.
Welcome to Friday New Releases and we have a big week for you with almost 50 releases coming out. There is something for everyone. I’m interested in the Mammoth new one as well as the Bon Jovi album that is a reissue of his last album ‘Forever’ and this time with duets for all the songs. There are some interesting people on board. I am sure Demi Lovato will be big this week and cool to see a new one by Big Wreck. Lots to choose from. Let me know what you want to hear or what we may have missed. Thanks for stopping by and have a great weekend!
Mammoth – The End – (I Am the Sheriff LLC / BMG Rights Mgmt)
For My Sunday Song #375, we are at the midway point with Deke’s Choices and this time around it is the song “A Place to Call Home” by the Canadian/American rock band Big Wreck. I say 1/2 American as the band originated in Boston, but ended up in Canada. The song is off their 2014 album ‘Ghosts’ and it is the opening track. The song wasn’t a single, but that track is a standout as it sets the tone for the rest of the album. The band are Ian Thornley, Brian Doherty, Paulo Neta, David McMillan and Chuck Keeping in case you were wondering.
The song was written by Ian Thornley and is about a common problem with a theme on belonging and finding your place in this world. Finding your place to call home basically. The song talks about being defined by your choices and accepting the consequences of said choices. Will making different choices or having a different background effect those choices or will you end up where you are regardless of how you were raised. A lot of thought and contemplation in this song and that is pretty cool.
The song opens with this really distorted, killer sounding guitar riff that drones on into an ominous choir of vocals that make this song seem almost otherworldly. When Ian comes in on vocals, there is an angelic choir feel to his vocals, very spacy and airy. The bass and drum lay down this heavy groove and with Ian’s vocals seemingly sounds a little Chris Cornell like which is really cool. The song is powerful and that chorus is huge. I am really digging this grunge type/Soundgarden sound and very bluesy vibe. A stellar track.
You Wanted the Best, You Got the Best! The Hottest New Release Day of the Year!! TODAY!!! Man, there are so many great releases today and I can’t wait. I have 3 I will be listening to and one is a Massive Box Set. This also seems to be a day for older established artists releasing new albums or anniversary albums and maybe for you younger listeners you might find some of these older artists totally awesome. Now, go check them out and let me know what you want to hear this week. Also, let us know what we may have missed. My choices are up first and in BOLD! Thanks for stopping by and have a wonderful weekend.
Kiss – Destroyer (45th Anniversary Super Deluxe Edition) – (Universal Music / UMG): KISS!!! Man, I can’t wait for this to arrive. I hope it makes it today. Kiss is releasing a 45th Anniversary of one of their biggest albums. It is remastered and there are a ton of demos and unreleased tracks and it is about time the band did a Box Set like this. Now, they need to go back and do them all with this special treatment. They’d get my money!!
The Darkness – Motorheart – (Cooking Vinyl): The Darkness is upon us and that makes for a much brighter day for me! I love these guys. Their love of that old glam rock sound makes for a wonderful listen. They bring that style to today’s market and for that we are lucky. I loved their last album ‘Easter is Cancelled’ and if this is half as good as that one, this will be awesome then!!
We are at the end of August and are getting ready for some huge releases that will be coming in September and October. This week has a ton of releases, but none I am eager to run out and get although one everyone is talking about (but me – well I am talking about it, but I don’t really care). My choices are limited and highlighted in Blue. Let me know what you are interested in hearing or if I missed anything as that is known to happen…frequently. Have a great week.
Sons of Apollo – Live With the Plovdiv Psychotic Symphony – (Inside Out Music). Sons of Apollo are releasing a huge live album/DVD and I expect it will be awesome. How could it not with Jeff Scott Soto on vocals, Mike Portnoy on Drums, Billy Sheehan on Bass, Ron “Bumblefoot” Thal on guitar and Derek Sherinian on keyboards. Their debut was spectacular and this will be nothing short of that. This will get played a lot!!
Tool – Fear Inoculum – (Tool Dissectional/Voyage): Here is the album everyone is talking about. It has been 13 years since their last album and I am not sure if anyone thought they would do another album. This is going to be huge in the world of music. So why do I not care one bit. I have never found them to be anything special so maybe I am missing something. I will listen to see if this finally grabs me, but I am not expecting much as I liked nothing prior. Can someone please tell me why they are so liked…seriously, let me know.
