As we end another month, it is time to go back and see what 2 Loud 2 Old Music added to the collection. This is August 2024 and we have vinyl, CDs and even some 7″ Singles. So much to go through including not one…not two…but four Noble Record Exclusives and or Label records. And to top that off we have another addition to the Rock Candy, the Kiss collection and now starting a Box Set collection. We even hit up a big $5 CD sale at MNRK Records. We are to the end of another month so it is time to what 2 Loud 2 Old Music added to the collection this month. We hit a couple local shops including Noble Records and Mad Jacks. I also ordered some new releases from Amazon and bought a few things off Discogs including one I’d been wanting a while. In fact, had to sell a couple things to be able to afford it. If you like Kiss, Aerosmith, Motley Crue and Billy Idol, then it is a must see. If not, you should still see all that is in store. We have cassettes, CDs and Vinyl for you this week. Enjoy!!!

Welcome to the first Purchases wrap ip of 2024. And January was a big month for CDs, thanks in part to 2nd & Charles and their great sale of Buy 5, Get 5 Free! I always take full advantage of that sale and this time was no different. And instead of only buying 5 and getting 5, I found enough to Buy 10 and get 10 Free. Here are the 10 I bought…

And then shortly after that, something I bought with my Christmas Gift Cards I received showed up. I have been wanting this vinyl for quite some time and I finally bought it. If that wasn’t enough, later in the month I was at an antique shop called ‘Sleepy Poets’ and I found the cassette for the same album. Had to buy it. Now, I have it on CD, vinyl and Cassette…
My local record store, Noble Records, has exclusives vinyl releases for his store and I have been buying them all…well almost as I started late and I am missing the first three he issued. I have about 13 or 14 others though. And this is one of my favorites. It is an album by a band called Poobah and this is their debut release called “Let Me In”. But this is a special collectors edition as it is a 2 LP set with the original album on one LP and a ton of bonus tracks on the other LP. And it is all glorious. If you like early 70’s rock with a lot of distortion, wah wah pedals and some incredible drumming you are in for a treat. Any Sabbath fan, this would be right up your alley as well.
The original album was released in 1972 with founding members, Jim Gustafson on guitar and vocals, Phil Jones on bass and vocals, and Glenn Wiseman on drums and what a monster he is. The original album only has 6 tracks and they are impressive. The band was named after some girl from Jim’s high school that everyone feared. Poobah is weird nickname for a girl. The name makes me think of The Flintstones’ Loyal Order of Water Buffaloes. The cover art of the album was done by artist Jack Joyce and done in the style of American Underground Comix of the 1960’s. Jack had understood that Jim was a huge fan of comics so it inspired him to do this character throwing up in a toilet. Man, that is inspiration.
Then in 2010, the band signed a new deal with Ripple Records and the album was remixed and then on top of that they threw on 13 bonus tracks they had laying around that were recorded back in 1973. The band has seen a resurgence in popularity of the years with songs being in TV shows, critics loving them and seeing re-issues of the 2010 remixed album like this one from Noble Records. It is albums like this, I keep buying Dillon’s exclusives for his store because sometimes they are pure gold.
Welcome to monthly wrap-up of what 2 Loud 2 Old Music added to the collection and it was another good month. I will be honest, I don’t know if December is shaping up to be as good as this one and that is okay. I need a break. I will be in New York City and hope to hit a couple stores so there is still hope, but as far as what has already been ordered, not much. I know there is Christmas, but that list I gave my family was pretty light as I’d like a new laptop and that will drown out most everything else. For now, sit back and enjoy what we have this month.
The month started out with a sale at 2nd & Charles with a Buy 2 Get 2 Free sale on CDs. Well, you don’t have to tell me twice. My daughter and I hit up a different one then our normal haunt as I have picked that one clean and boy did that pay off. I picked up 20 CDs and 1 DVD as well. So technically, the first photo I bought, then the 2nd one was free.
And the DVD was for Robbie Williams’ TV concert show called “The Robbie Williams Show” and a review if forthcoming…
We have a lot of treats for you today. No tricks. I promise. It is all good stuff. October was another good month for the 2 Loud 2 Old Music Collection. We have box sets, CDs, Vinyl, Cassettes, books and I would say that is a good month. The month started off with a couple items that were supposed to arrive in September, but sadly did not come until after I had written the September Purchases post. It also ended with a new a new band from this album as well. A perfect booked. So, we have the two Night Ranger Rock Candy reissues and their new album that is a live album done with a Youth Orchestra. Great stuff…
Next up is a bunch of items I picked up when I went to visit a local store I hadn’t hit in a while. It is Repo Records. I dug through the CDs, the Cassettes and the Vinyl and found a lot of good things. First, I found another Kiss bootleg I didn’t have in my collection. That was an easy decisions…
And then I found some great 45’s from the 80’s with picture sleeves. I like picture sleeves. I picked up a Billy Idol, a Loverboy, a Billy Squire and a John Cougar Mellencamp single. All choice cuts…
Welcome to the monthly round-up as we go through the purchases here at 2 Loud 2 Old Music for September 2023. It was another good month for vinyl and CDs, but that was it. Nothing out of the ordinary this month like Cassettes, 8-Tracks or even books. Strictly vinyl and CDs which I won’t complain about because that is enough. The month started out with a couple new releases that came out at the end of August, but didn’t arrive until after the August post was done. I picked the new albums for both Eclipse and H.E.A.T. and both are great…
Then during Labor Day weekend, my wife and I had a kid free weekend and we went out to 2nd & Charles so she could look for books. I, of course, took advantage of the Buy 2 Get 2 Free in the used CD section where I picked up 10 CDs. Two of them were actually still sealed (Lifehouse and Halestorm)!! I picked up a handful of Live including their debut E.P., some Wallflowers and a great Pearl Jam live CD and as Jimmy Buffett passed away, I grabbed his greatest hits in memory of him.
Another month comes to a close so it is time for another monthly wrap up of what landed in 2 Loud 2 Old Music’s collection this month and it was another decent month, if I do say so myself. It started off with a couple of new releases. First being the vinyl for the 2nd Mammoth WVH album and I like it as much as the first one…
And the second that item that came out the same time was the new album for Rick Springfield. 20 songs on one disc and it is classic Springfield and I have enjoyed it a lot as I do most of his albums.
I will start out by saying, always know the owner of your local record store. It is a great connection to have so treat them well, support their store and good things can come of it. I say that because my local record store, Noble Records, has started getting records that are exclusive to his store. They are usually a limited run and something really obscure, like this one. I had never heard of Organ-Utan prior to his mentioning of this album so I streamed it and when I did, I was blown away. I went to the website of the store to go ahead and order the vinyl, but sadly, it was sold out. There were very few copies printed (1000 per Discogs).
Fast forward to a few weeks later and I am in the store and I mention to the owner, Dillon, that I listened to the album and loved it, but missed out on the vinyl. He asked if I really wanted a copy and of course I said, yes I did. He got up, walked to the back and brought me a copy. I was over the moon appreciative for that and so I bought it right then and there. So, that is why you always want to get to know the owner of your local record store. He apparently had a few copies stashed for his most loyal customers and I am glad to say, I might be one since he was so kind to do that for me. So, enough about that, let’s get to this beauty.
If you’ve never heard of Orang-Utan, you are not alone. This was their only album and the UK band never knew it was released. Yep, can you believe it. There is a long story behind that so I am going to butcher it and shorten it as to not bore you too much. The band was called Hunter and their manager, Leo Rappaccioli, singed a publishing contract with Adrian Millar who put up the money for the recording of the album. Leo signed the deal in an alley on a trash can, so not sure he actually sat and read through it. The band recorded the album in two days and then went about their business.
