We had a slow week last week and this week is a little bit better but neither up to the pace of what we have been seeing and will be seeing in the coming weeks. But there are releases which is always a good thing. I have two I am interested in hearing and maybe even buying. I have highlighted those in Blue. Let me know what you want to hear or what I may have missed that is out today and not on the list. That way everyone can know what all is out today. Thanks so much for stopping by and I hope you all have a wonderful and wild weekend!!
The Wallflowers – Exit Wounds – (New West Records): It has been way too long since the last Wallflower album. The last one from Jakob Dylan and company was way back in 2012 so we are talking 9 years ago…crazy. I am excited to have them back on the scene and this will be the first thing I listen to this morning. Can’t wait to see how they’ve changed since the last one and still hoping for that classic Wallflower sound though!!
Almost Famous Original Soundtrack (20th Anniversary Deluxe Edition) – (Geffen Records): In what might be one of my all time favorite movies, I am excited it see this massive deluxe edition out for the soundtrack. The digital is out today and the 2CD set I believe. The big deluxe albums won’t be out for a few more weeks and they will be 5 CDs or 6LPs worth of music. There will be all the songs from the movie including all the Stillwater tracks plus the demos of those Stillwater tracks with the songwriters singing (such as Nancy Wilson). This should be sweet!!
March is over and it will go out with a ton of releases this week. There is something for everyone with this many releases. We have metal, rock, alternative, country, R&B, jazz and christian music all to be heard and spun. Actually, for me, there isn’t much I am interested in and I will highlight those in Blue. Let me know what you found and if I missed anything. Thanks for stopping by and have a great weekend. If you want to see a bunch of the new releases coming over the next couple months, click New Releases here or at the top of the page.
Billie Eilish – When We All Fall Asleep – (Darkroom/Interscope Records): Okay, this one is on my list because it is my oldest daughters favorite artist right now and apparently a lot of people are digging her. She is VERY DARK in her attitude, music and especially the lyrics. But she has something that is the “IT” factor right now. A lot of her stuff is a little too weird, but some songs really knock it out of the park. I will be listening to this one a lot…and not all by choice.
L.A. Guns – The Devil You Know – (Frontiers Records): Is this the real L.A. Guns or one of the two touring bands with the same name?? Kidding…a little. Either way, I will give it a spin and see what this old band still has to offer.
Vacation starts after close of work today and I can’t wait. I wish there was a ton of new music to listen to but sadly that is not the case. The are only a couple I will give a listen and I know one I had to pick up for my daughter (on vinyl of course). I actually think there is more for my kids this week than me. And actually the 5 Second of Summer was released last week. My choices are in Blue, which ones are you interested in or what have I missed. Have a great weekend as I know I will have a great next week…NO WORK!!
Panic at the Disco – Pray for the Wicked – (Fueled by Ramen LLC): Panic is on the top of the list this week. Why? Well, because my oldest loves this band. She is going to Atlanta to see them since they aren’t coming to Charlotte. I am sure I will be hearing this for some time and actually I don’t mind. They are pretty darn good. We should have the vinyl sitting on the doorstep when I get home…if my daughter doesn’t get to it first.
Ben Rector – Magic – (OK Kid Recordings): Ben Rector returns and I really like this Singer/Songwriter’s style. He tells great stories and has a great voice so there isn’t anything he has done I haven’t enjoyed. This is on the lighter side, but some days you just need that to relax.
We are now into April and the releases are still coming fast and furious. There is a little something for everyone today and I am sure you will find something you like. We have pop, rock, metal, country, alternative, christian, classical, techno…basically the whole gamut of genres. My interests are focused on the ones highlighted in Blue.
Michelle Branch – Hopeless Romantic – (Verve Label Group): Michelle Branch?? Am I reading that correctly? It has been over 14 years since she has had a full length solo album. She had an E.P. in 2010, but not since 2003 has she had a full length studio album. This one definitely has me intrigued. I can’t wait to hear what she has to offer.
Deep Purple – InFinite – (Earmusic): Deep Purple just keep on going after almost 50 years. This is their twentieth studio release and quite possibly their last “Big” tour, whatever that means. I think the band members currently (after many iterations) is Ian Paice, Roger Glover, Ian Gillan, Steve Morse and Don Alrey. Looking forward to this release after hearing some great things about the album.
