If there is one thing I love to find and that is Kiss Bootlegs. Whether it is on CD or vinyl, I don’t really care. I do prefer vinyl, but I’ll take it on CD as well so I can play it anywhere once I load it up to the cloud. This time around it is a CD bootleg. And not any CD bootleg, but a whole collection of radio broadcast from over the years. In fact, there are 8 shows spread over 10 CDs and includes 119 tracks. A good coverage of years from as early as 1974 all the way up to 1994. I guess there aren’t too many broadcast after the 90’s as you can see from below…

I love that it covers the make-up era and the non make-up era all the way up to prior to the big Reunion Tour. And it even includes one Non-Kiss Show with a Frehley’s Comet one. The are radio broadcast so the quality is good, but realize these are bootlegs and not pure soundboard recordings released by the band with the sound cleaned up. The set comes in a small cardboard box with each individual disc in a fake vinyl-like sleeve. Nothing fancy, but they cram a lot of music in to a small package.

These are raw and rough and that is why I like them. I really enjoy bootlegs and getting all the shows that I can have from throughout their career. The band started releasing their own “bootleg” type albums with the ‘Off the Soundboard’ Series, but after five releases, that has been put on hold currently. I do hope they get back to it soon. For now, let’s go through this set of albums.
Disc 1:
WMMS, Agora Ballroom, Cleveland, Ohio, 1st April 1974 / King Biscuit Flour Hour, The Music Hall, Cleveland, Ohio, 21st June 1975

The first disc goes all the back to April 1, 1974 at the famed Agora Ballroom show. I’ve already reviewed this show with the Kiss – Agora Ballroom 1974: The Cleveland Broadcast plus Bonus Cuts (Bootleg Series) – Album Review (THE KISS TOUR) which is actually one of the earliest bootlegs I think I had picked up. The other show on this disc are bits of the King Biscuit Flower hour show from June 21, 1975 from Cleveland, OH and this one I didn’t have so was a nice bonus to have with this set. Both great early Kiss shows and a part of their history.

DISC 2:
Fm Radio, Selland Arena, Fresno, California, 27st November 1979

This next one is listed as from November 27, 1977 and if you look at the track listing, you know that is a massive impossibility as it has a couple tracks from ‘Dynasty’ which wasn’t until 1979, so I think the show is right at Selland Arena in Fresno, California, it is just the year should be 1979. Though I do have a ‘Dynasty Tour’ show, it is from a July show so this is one I do not have and glad I do. The show I have has 20 tracks and this one only 13 so not a full show, but still so great songs and even a couple solo tracks. I like that.

DISC 3 & 4:
WLLZ Radio, Cobo Arena, Detroit, Michigan, 8th December 1984

I love how the one cover is the right band members, non-makeup while the other is so not. I tis the current line-up of the band…oops. But it is a full show over two discs…

This show is the Cobo Arena in Detroit from December 8, 1984. I actually have two bootlegs from this tour with a U.S. show and a European show. And if you count the ‘Off the Soundboard’ show with Mark St. John, I have three shows from this tour…and now I have a fourth with this one. And I won’t complain as look at that set list. It is pure 80’s era Kiss. This was the time where I really got in to them again so one of my favorite eras of the band.

Disc 5 & 6:
WNEW Fm Radio, The Ritz, New York, Ny, 12th August 1988

Again, another show spread over two discs with one cover an fairly accurate depiction of the band at that time and the other is Pual in full on make-up yet a non make-up era show. Come on guys, get it right.

This is a famous, heavily bootlegged show as I have this already. Well, I have a Part 1, don’t have a Part 2…this is teh one I have Kiss – The Ritz on Fire (August 12, 1988, The Ritz, New York City. A radio broadcast – Crazy Nights Tour) Here we have the full show and again, another great set of 80’s era with a few really deep cuts as well. The fact we get “Bang Bang You and “Reason to Live” which they never play and I get “No, No, No” which is a personal favorite of mine. I can dig this one.

Disc 7:
Fm Radio, Estadio Do Pacaembu, Sao Paulo, 27th August 1994

Here we have a late era non make-up show right before we hit the Reunion years and the make-up back on. We have Eric Singer on drums and yet we get an old make-up era cover. Dudes, I’m shaking my head. I love all the ‘Revenge’ songs on here and then the rest is old classic Kiss. Yeah, I can really get in to that. The only thing is it is not a full show, but a South American Tour show so that is cool.

Disc 8 & 9:
Fm Radio, Obras Sanitarias, Buenos Aires, Argentina, 5th September 1994

Oh, I love the wrong covers. More Make-up pictures and band members not on this tour. Ugh!! This time around we at least get a full show…and what a setlist…

A month after the Disc 7 show, we get another one from the South American Tour. 23 tracks of Primed Kiss. And the crowd at this show was rowdy! Damn they were loud and involved. It is nuts. But I do love this setlist…some great stuff on here and anytime I get ‘Revenge’ era songs, I’m a happy guy.

Disc 10:
Ace Frehley – Fm Radio, Summerfest, Milwaukee, Wi, 29th June 1987

This is my first Ace bootleg, but to be fair, it isn’t really “Ace”. No, it is his band ‘Frehley’s Comet’ on tour supporting their debut album. The show was June 29, 1987 and it is fantastic. You get Ace on vocals for some songs and Tod Howarth on others. It is a set chock full of hits and you get all the great Kiss songs that Ace was a part of and all the great Frehley Comet songs as well. What more could you want. This is the main reason I wanted this set and I am glad I have it.

And believe it or not, that is it. Man, there is a lot of music on here and a must have for a Kiss fan who loves to have live shows as you get your money’s worth here. This isn’t hard to find, but be patient and you be able to get one for around $50 if you look around. I waited until I found one within that range as that is the sweet spot for me. You get shows from 3 different decades plus an Ace show so not sure I really need to say anything more than that as that is a huge selling point right there. They are radio broadcast so the sound is fine. The shows are not touched up and as you would’ve heard them if you were there and that is good enough for me. I hope you nejoyed the walk though as this is an easy 5 out of 5 Stars as you get a box full of rock!!

A CD bootleg box set? I didn’t even know that was a thing. What a score! Eight live shows, including an Ace Frehley show, for $50? Not bad at all! I wish bootlegs would insert correct photos of the band during that specific time, but the fire design for that Kiss box set is cool.

I do like the pictures on these, it looks really good, but yeah. At least get the right people on the right disc.

Yeah the pictures on the Kiss bootleg set are cool, but it’s just frustrating when bootleg people are too lazy to get the correct members on their packaging. It’s deceiving for the casual fans too.

A lot of repeat from what I do have here, but still a great set.
Interesting that they stopped doing broadcasts after 94. My guess is $$$!

Some repeat for me as well but most was on vinyl so I’ll take the CD.
And yeah, that seemed to stop being a thing. Always boils down to $$

Around the time they stopped signing full sets of autographs, too – $$.
My buddy Peter bought me a copy of Greatest KISS signed by all four members – knew it was a fake for that reason.

That would be worth some major moolah if that was real.

Yeah and it’s unfortunate that it is so easy to fake. I never pay extra for autographed merch for that reason.

I never purposely bought something for the autograph. I’ve bought things that I realized had an autograph after the fact. Wait, I just bough the ESP CD knowing Eric had signed it.

Yes exactly. And that’s a little bit of a bonus. I have lots like that especially from Canadian bands. Helix, Harem Scarem. Like, “Oh look, Harry Hess signed this for someone named Jill.” LOL

Wow, that’s a glorious set, John! Discs 3 & 4 have my attention for sure, as that very show from Cobo Hall was released on home video as “Animalize Live Uncensored”. It’s such a good show, and as I’ve said before: I love Paul’s explicit banters from that era, lol!

Paul’s 80 banter was the absolute best and cheesiest. It was so much fun. I saw a ton of shows in the 80’s and that was always one of the most fun things to hear as you never knew how bad it was going to be.

All your one stop KISS Live shopping in one box. That Ritz show from ’88 is awesome. I wish they would put out something from the Dynasty tour officially, maybe at some point. Some good titles in here John as well as great job showing all the pics etc. from each show.

Basically it is a one-stop shop. I’m glad to get CDs as I only had some of these on vinyl and now I can listen to them anywhere

John when I think of Bootlegs…I think of the sixties and seventies…”I tape recorded a show in a concert” type with iffy quality. If these are radio broadcasts…they probably are pretty decent. Doesn’t Gene and Paul try to stop these? This isn’t from the band is it…no it can’t be if it included an Ace show.

I have a few early 80’s boots, but yeah, this is a boot and I don’t know if Kiss can stop it as how would they. Plus, being radio broadcast, do they even own the rights to them.

Regardless….I’m glad someone did it for the fans.

The bootleggers do a better job at packaging and releasing material than the labels.

Sometimes I think they do.
